MP3: Donwill - "Love Junkie (Wallpaper Remix)" Feat The Park
Second Remix From 11 Inch Records' Love Junkie EP Matches Donwill With Wallpaper, The Park
The Song:
The song that started it all. In March 2010, Donwill released his debut solo album, Don Cusack In High Fidelity, a concept project themed around the cult classic film High Fidelity. Following the release, Donwill created this remix, which ended up in the hands of DJ Eleven, who early last month released an entire Love Junkie EP, featuring a variety of remixes and renditions on the original single. "When I heard the remix Donwill did with Wallpaper, I was sold," explains Eleven. And now, following last month's So Shifty Remix of the "Love Junkie" single, Donwill, DJ Eleven, and 11 Inch Records are excited to release this remix for fans.
This track, which debuted this week at number 33 on the CMJ Hip-Hop chart, features The Park and Wallpaper. While the So Shifty remix resonated with the heavy bass and beating drums of dubstep, this new remix once again comes complete with an entirely new feel; a pulsing, four-to-the-floor drum line and an infectious guitar vamp, courtesy of Wallpaper's production work and the live sounds of The Park, offers the listener a more soulful take. Wallpaper, serving double duty as producer and singer for the track, laces the song with a catchy hook: "I'm addicted to your touch / When you're near me I lose control / And we ain't never met / Baby I need you tonight / I'm addicted to the feeling / But somehow end up empty inside / And I can't find the love..." While these two 11 Inch Records remixes of "Love Junkie" have offered fans with contrasting makeovers and refurbished vibe, the one constant remains Donwill, as he raps, "A well done fling is a beautiful thing."
Love Junkie EP tracklist: 1. Love Junkie (Wallpaper remix) 2. Love Junkie (Wallpaper remix) (clean) 3. Love Junkie (Wallpaper remix) (inst) 4. Look At Me (dirty) 5. Look At Me (clean) 6. Look At Me (inst) 7. Love Junkie (So Shifty remix) 8. Love Junkie (So Shifty dub)

For Immediate Release -- Rapper/entrepreneur Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter continues to expand his $450 million empire with the announcement his Roc Nation, www.rocnation.com, will acquire German-American netlabel Block Starz Music LLC, www.blockstarmusic.com, in a move that has taken industry insiders by surprise.
Mr. Carter, who sold his Rocawear clothing label for $204 million in 2007, signed 10-year $150 million Live Nation deal in 2008 and holds stakes in the New Jersey Nets, 40/40 Club chain, ad firm Translation and various other businesses, reportedly won a bidding war between Universal and Jive Records for the fledgling Block Starz imprint.
While terms of the deal had not been disclosed at press time, the purchase of Block Starz, a full service online music company founded in 2008 to scout, develop, and market new independent talent, culminates a busy month for Jay-Z.
Earlier it was announced that Roc Nation had signed deejay/producer Mick Boogie, singer and songwriter/producer Santi "Santigold" White to its management division. It is unclear in what capacity Block Starz Music will operate under the new business arrangement, but experts speculate it will involve A&R and talent scouting.
Representatives for Jay-Z, who Forbes recently revealed as the second "Wealthiest Artist" in Hip-Hop, were not immediately available for comment.
