Core DJ producer JButtah, and Edley Shine formerly of Born Jamericans, have teamed with British R&B singer Mark Morrison to deliver "I Am What I Am (Refix)", a hot new Dancehall remix for the summer of 2012, of Morrison's upcoming single. The refix pays tribute to Jamaica's 50th year of independence.

Mark Morrison, born in Germany, to Bajan parents, released hits such as "Return of the Mack", and "Moan & Groan". Currently finishing his third studio album, also titled I Am What I Am, last month Morrison featured on Trae Tha Truth's "I'm On 2.0", the video landed MTV's Jam of the Week. Edley Shine, formerly of hip-hop/reggae duo Born Jamericans, who were among the first to transcend the barrier that conventional dancehall music now enjoys, by creating a hybrid of hip-hop and dancehall music, has also worked with legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder and KRS-One. VA native, DJ JButtah has garnered recognition with production credits including Trey Songz, Swizz Beatz, Cassidy, Fat Joe "Blackout" and Jadakiss new single "Hold You Down".

@ZionI Announce 2012 Shadowboxing Tour & 7th LP (@Zumbi808)

Hip-Hop Duo Zion I Announce 2012 Shadowboxing Tour & Ready 7th LP

Courtesy Ballin PR.

Oakland, CA-Hip-hop duo Zion I invite live music fans from all over the country to spar at the 2012 Shadowboxing Tour. Beginning October 4 in Fresno, California, the duo, consisting of emcee Zumbi and producer Amp Live, will hit 30 cities from Brooklyn to Boulder and Atlanta to Orlando with up and coming Santa Cruz Dubstep DJ Minnesota.

The Shadowboxing Tour will kick-off in conjunction with Zion I's newest album, Shadowboxing coming out October 2 on Live Up Records. A move from the live instrumentation of their last record towards the gritty, beat heavy sound, Zion I continue to forge new ground musically. Attached is Float, a track from the forthcoming LP. But thematically, Shadowboxing is signature Zion I: "This is an album about metaphorical kicks and throws at oneself," explains Zumbi, "looking inward at the shadow self, and seeking awareness in the darkness of one's own psyche."

On the group's 7th LP they've enlisted guests such as Bassnectar, Grouch and Eligh, Clyde Carson and Goapele.

Since 1999, Zion I has released six critically acclaimed LPs, including Mind over Matter (1998), Deep Water Slang (2000), True & Livin’ (2003), The Take Over (2009), and Atomic Clock (2010). They also have two highly acclaimed albums under the name Zion I and The Grouch with long time collaborator The Grouch, Hereos in the City of Dope and Hereos in the Healing of the Nation. Voted best Bay Area hip-hop group by the SF Weekly numerous times, Zion I have been featured in media outlets from XXL, The Source, Vibe, YRB, 944,, Popmatters, 7+7, SF Chronicle, and SF Bay Guardian.

Muscle Car by Sontiago f/ Therese Workman, Ango, Alias (@Endemik)

Muscle Car Maxi-Single by Sontiago f/ Therese Workman, Ango, Alias

Courtesy Endemik.

Portland, Maine based hip-hop artist, Sontiago drops her first release in nearly five years. Sontiago’s 2007 sophomore album earned her a number six spot on the CMJ hip-hop charts, landed her on the pages of URB’s Next 100 and was named “your Ipod’s best friend,” in Bust Magazine.

After a US/Canadian tour with her last album, Steel Yourself, Sontiago returned home and focused her creative passions on working with youth in her community. Busying herself as a teaching artist with a local non-profit writing center, Sontiago has spent a significant amount of time leading songwriting and video workshops for area high school students. The results can be seen in a series of recently completed video shorts titled, “The Whole World Waiting.”

Returning to her own music, Sontiago found some inspiration with a group of influential collaborators. Lucky Me Records producer Ango saw Sontiago perform in his hometown of Halifax in 2003 and after relocating to Montreal years later,sought out Endemik Music’s Scott Da Ros, who helped get the two artists together.  Ango, who had just returned from the Red Bull Music Academy in Barcelona, was armed with energy and a thundering palette of beats, while Sontiago, revitalized, was bursting with ideas.

Back in Portland, Maine, Sontiago was bar-tending at a local venue when a girl in a bluegrass band caught her eye. She was wearing a pair of sneakers that suggested she was more than a bassist in an all-girl folk ensemble. Indeed, she was. The two exchanged music the next day and Sontiago found out that Therese Workman was one half of Oh My Goodness, a brilliant duo that made songs infused with humor, future-pop, R&B, and a healthy dose of Cosby Show. From there it was on. The two pushed each other, wrote together, recorded together and cheered from the sidelines as Anticon’s Alias mixed their vocals.

Muscle Car Maxi Single is the kind of music that might cause groups of strangers to burst into spontaneous and elaborate dance numbers as it flows from the stereos of cars cruising the Saturday night strip. Sontiago is back. Life is good. It’s time to have a bit of fun.  Without sacrificing her ability to make a point, Sontiago steers Muscle Car with a carefree abandon that is both infectious and exhilarating.  On the b-side, Okay Okay’s anthemic beat and fierce determination is the perfect counterpoint to the title track – the moment when everyone suddenly realizes they’ve been caught up in unconscious choreography but shrugs off their inhibitions and keeps dancing anyway.

Sontiago's Muscle Car is a digital maxi-single including two new songs produced by Ango, a remix by Alias and two instrumentals. Muscle Car will be released through Endemik Music and is available at and other online retailers August 14, 2012.
