With Little Rock located just north of Texas, and only hours away from Houston, screwed and chopped music has long influenced the city's hip-hop scene – and SL Jones' musical tastes along with it. SL has been pulling from those influences since his C.O.L.O.R.S. mixtape, and they continue to permeate throughout his forthcoming mixtape Flight Risk, including on the hypnotizing, screwed chorus of latest single "Actin' Bad."

While "Actin' Bad," produced by Blitz, seemingly plays as a cold hearted and reckless day-in-the-life account, the song was penned – therapeutically, almost – as SL went through the process of putting recent adversity in the rearview. "I've been dealing with a lot of stress lately due to my current legal situation," explains SL. "At some point you just gotta say 'Fuck it'; sitting around feeling sorry for yourself isn't gonna change anything. I'm gonna face this – or any situation – with my head held high."

And with "Actin' Bad," SL balances his uncertainty with defiance, a mix of positive sentiment ("I'm moving forward regardless/ I call it positive yardage",) with the kind slick brash talk that likely earned the song its title. "I ain't got no Grammy for my mammy/ Or no Oscar for my pops," raps SL, "But I got real gangsters in my family/ No imposters on my block/ Some of my ni**as been to prison/ Some of my partners done been shot/ All of my dogs stay on call – rise or fall – they're all I got."

SL Jones' new mixtape, Flight Risk, will be released on December 14th and includes production from Lex Luger, Shawty Redd, Sonny Digital, Young L, Metro Beatz, and more.

MP3: Mike WiLL Made It Ft. Daz Dillinger & Kurupt - "Who Fuccin' Wit Me"

Mike WiLL Made It has been teasing fans on and off over the past weeks with new tracks and exclusives from his forthcoming mixtape, Est. In 1989. Now, the Marietta-born, Atlanta-based producer is excited to announce a December 27th release date for the tape, and also give fans the latest single, "Who's Fuccin' Wit Me," a song that features legendary Dogg Pound Gang rappers Daz Dillinger & Kurupt.

"Daz reached out, just to tell me that he respected what I've been doing," explains Mike, discussing how the song came together. "I told him I'd been respecting what they've been doing for years – they're legends – so let's work. Kurupt and Daz came through on this one, knocked it out instantly."

Throughout his career, Mike has lent his sound to a variety of up-and-coming artists, not least of all being Future, for his recent Big Boi- and Young Jeezy-featuring single "Ain't No Way Around It" and a host of other tracks, but Mike gets just as much gratification out of working with artists he followed as a youngster. "It's always fun working with hot artists, or discovering new talent," notes WiLL, "but it can be even better working with the artists you grew up listening to and admiring."

The song is also a statement of sorts for Mike WiLL, a message to those who have his style pigeonholed as strictly southern. "I can fuck with any coast – any style of hip-hop," he remarks, "and I can make something dope."

After thousands of downloads, a slew of live dates across America and countless hours spent chopping beats to blunted perfection in the lab, New Orleanian producer/deejay Quickie Mart proudly presents the Space Monkey Radio EP, a collection of artist-approved dubstep remixes of songs by rapper Freddie Gibbs, California ska-funk outfit Slightly Stoopid, New Orleans bounce pioneer Ricky B, and singers Shyvonne and Justina.

The SMR EP is a prelude to a forthcoming full-length album of Quickie Mart dubstep remixes with the likes of Galactic, Her Majesty & The Wolves, Murs, Irma Thomas, the Soul Rebels and many more. To commemorate SMR's release, QM offers his remix of "Wasted" by singer/songwriter/musician Jes Hudak for free download. Jes was introduced to the world via her stint on Bravo's reality show Platinum Hit, and has been recognized by Billboard, AOL, ISSA and the LA Music Awards for her talent. Her most recent release is last year's National Holiday EP. In the last two years alone Quickie Mart has released three volumes of the Haze Diaries mixtape series with rapper Gotham Green, featuring Freddie Gibbs and Planet Asia. Gypsyphonic Disko, his klezmer/New Orleans bounce/hip-hop fusion project with Ben Ellman of Galactic, was included in Nerve.com's Five Albums You Should Be Listening To Right Now and his Brain Salad Surgery mashup tape was released in late 2009.
