Adam's World Weekly - No Fools Allowed (@AdamsWorldBlog)

Welcome to the new week everyone, and happy April Fools' Day! Don't worry, this edition of Adam's World Weekly is completely prank free. I hope everyone closed out their March with a bang. I hit up NYC to see Lily and The Parlour Tricks, who you'll read more about in this email, and the Nat Osborn Band, on Thursday night, and on Saturday I went to Robin de isles' show in CT. I'm stoked to be attending, and doing a little work at, this Friday's Props to Hip-Hop show in NYC, which is celebrating the year 1993. In fact, I caught up with a bunch of celebs to get their thoughts on the year 1993 for a special feature for RapReviews that's in this week's update. Also in this week's update is a feature on the aforementioned Lily and The Parlour Tricks, as well as a brand new Pop Shots, which takes a look at the charts, and a great Vid Pick from Vinnie Scullo.

If you dig any of these features please feel free to forward this email to a friend. Thanks, and enjoy!

Pop Shots - A Look At The Charts

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with some Billboard singles chart analysis. Right now we have a plethora of great pop music climbing the charts, as well some independent hip-hop, and a little pop-rock, so let’s take a look at what’s working, and why. The chart positions I'm using are from the Billboard Hot 100 as it was listed on Billboard.com this past Friday, and since this is Pop Shots, you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

Lily and The Parlour Tricks Will Murder You With Melody

When you describe your music as "murder ballads," you probably don't want life imitating art. That's nearly what happened to Lily and the Parlour Tricks' bassist Brian Kelsey at a recent show, however, with the band performing their unique combination of 50s infused rock and lyrics rife with true crime imagery.

Lead singer Lily Claire remembers the scene, saying, "We were like three songs into our set and I turn around in the middle of a song and Brian has blood streaming down his face, just pouring out of his forehead..."

Remembering One Of Hip-Hop's Best Years

The year 1993 was a special one for hip-hop. It didn’t really matter which type of hip-hop you preferred, there was a classic album released that year that you still treasure to this day. Wu-Tang Clan, Dr. Dre, A Tribe Called Quest, Onyx, Snoop Dogg, Cypress Hill, 2Pac, Guru, Naughty By Nature, Ice Cube, Black Moon, Souls of Mischief, De La Soul, Digable Planets, and KRS-ONE all released classic albums in ’93, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

On April 5th, at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in NYC, Props To Hip-Hop will be putting on a 20th anniversary show celebrating the year 1993, featuring a live band, and two dozen emcees covering some of the year’s most memorable songs.

With Props To Hip-Hop’s celebration in mind, RapReviews caught up with some of our favorite artists and entertainers to get their memories of ’93. Some of the memories are insightful when it comes to finding out more about the music from that era, and some of the memories are just downright hilarious. Enjoy this trip down memory lane.

Blunted Astronaut Records present a collaborative effort between IceRocks of DXA and rapper Eastkoast.

Eastkoast has been in and out of New York City’s rap scene for years. He’s no stranger to the art. Most recently Koast has been spotted doing guest appearances, on select Lewis Parker releases. Armed with razor sharp flows and a distinct raspy voice Koast is here once again to prove a point.

Entirely produced by IceRocks, the 12” consists of four precisely crafted head-nodders. Each track has its own dramatic and eerie tone. Hard-hiting drums blend perfectly with atmospheric canvas served by the NYC native. An instrumental to “Ghost” and an acappella of “Laser Beam Profits”, featuring Meyhem Lauren are a bonus for DJs and re-mixers alike.

Below are snippets of the 4 tracks featured on the record for your listening pleasure. Enjoy and grab a copy before they are gone forever.

Tracklist:

Side A:

1. Tango & Cash
2. Laser Beam Profits feat. Meyhem Lauren
3. Laser Beam Profits (Acappella)

Side B:

1. Ghost
2. The Ave

The Hip-Hop Shop #215 - 3.1 MPS Average

It's time for another new edition of The Hip-Hop Shop. Episode #215 is entitled The Hip-Hop Shop #215 - 3.1 MPS Average. I tried to cram Binary Star, Bambu, MC Pennywise, Gee Watts and Sankofa into just 30 minutes, but it was worth the overrun! Thanks for listening and remember to share the show with a friend and tell them to check it out every Tuesday on RapReviews.com. (PS: If you exclude the intro and outro it's probably closer to 3 minutes, but that's not as fun as 3.1!)
