Hip-Hop group Zion I continue to forge new ground musically on their latest LP ShadowBoxing, a beat-heavy hip-hop album decidedly grittier than past projects. Always pushing the literal—and figurative—needle forward, the duo, consisting of emcee Zumbi and producer Amp Live, have once again created something experimental and heartfelt. ShadowBoxing features guests such as Bassnectar, Grouch & Eligh, Collie Buddz and Goapele.
In hip-hop, as in life, there are few things more important than family. And no one embodies the bonds of brotherhood better than The Lytics, the five-man Winnipeg crew whose bid for genre supremacy has long been a family affair.
Kae’s latest work explores themes of spiritual growth, fearless exploration, and vulnerability. As the artist explains, “the way I came to music was as a part of a bigger search. Exploration and fearless expression was a part of a spiritual journey for me and continues to be. It was never initially about a career or a certain style or anything like that. It was about easing anxiety and being closer to God. In that sense I'm always creating to satisfy that part of me. The songs on this record are deeply personal for that very reason.”
Flavor Flav Arrested for Assault With a Deadly Weapon
"Flavor Flav was arrested early this morning in Vegas after allegedly threatening a teenager in his house with a deadly weapon, TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement sources tell us, the teenager is the son of Flav's fiancee -- and the rapper had allegedly gotten into a heated verbal argument with both the teenager and his mom before it turned violent."

Freeway, in conjunction with Karmaloop and Rocksmith Tokyo, is excited to release his new mixtape, Freedom Of Speech. The 16-track tape, hosted by famed DJ and producer Don Cannon, is available for free download.
This past Friday, Freeway released "Jungle," the first official single from his forthcoming album, Diamond In The Ruff. Freeway also used the occasion to announce a new release date, November 27th, for the album, and while fans may be saddened at the news that they'll have to wait an additional two weeks before getting their hands on the Philly rapper's fourth official studio album, Free has released this new mixtape to hold his loyal supporters over along the way.
Largely, Freedom Of Speech is a solo effort for Freeway, but where guests do show up –Young Chris on "Real Shit," Jakk Frost and Malik B on "Beards R' Us" – it's often a Philly affair. Elsewhere, Freeway spreads the love, enlisting Atlanta rapper Diamond for "Ice Cream," and he also collaborates with Free, former host of 106 & Park, for the soulful "Ghetto Love." For production, Freeway called on long-time producer Jake One, along with a number of first-time collaborators, including Cardiak, Thelonius Martin, and upstart producer B. Jones, who handles production on four of the tape's 16 tracks. The tape is mixed by Mike Jerz, who also contributes production on "Master Of Ceremony."
For Freedom Of Speech, Freeway partnered with streetwear clothing line Rocksmith Tokyo and fashion retailer and culture outlet Karmaloop, the latter of which also partnered with Freeway to shoot a number of videos from the mixtape, including previously released clips for "Let You Know," "We Up," "Master Of Ceremony," and the Young Chris-featuring "Real Shit." For Freeway, the partnership was a natural decision, given his long-standing relationships with the companies.
Karmaloop is equally excited to take part in the release of Freedom Of Speech, a partnership that's been a long-time coming. "It was an easy decision to partner Rocksmith and Freeway on this project for Karmaloop Music," says Tom Keough, Special Projects Coordinator for Karmaloop. "These are two brands that Karmaloop stands behind and believes in. Free has always supported Karmaloop so it was a no-brainer – he's part of the Karmaloop fam."

Ideal music is music that is more than the sum of its notes. The perfect beat can transcend time and space, lifting your spirit and taking your mind on a journey through the universe with your feet still on the dance floor. That is Blackhouse. Influenced by Afrika Bambataa and The Soulsonic Force, Kraftwerk, DJ Omega, Knights of the Turntable, Frankie Knuckles, and Kurtis Blow, Blackhouse is dance music with an IQ.
