For songwriter, producer, and singer ZAKEE, 2011 turned out to be an outstanding year. In September, the triple threat released his debut album, Assimilations, a project that showed off a mix of ZAKEE's new sounds and earned him acclaim from a variety of outlets, not to mention year-end list nods from the likes of OkayAfrica and MTV Iggy.

Now, having parted ways with his former label, Green Owl Records, and having entered into new management under Jay Jackson who also manages Santigold and SPANK ROCK, ZAKEE is looking forward to an exciting 2012, and is kicking off the new year with a trippy new, TriggerHappy-directed video for "Snakes."

Since the release of his first singles "Fast Lane" featuring Gucci Mane, Slycka Slyck, & Lil Ru and "Goin' Ham," also featuring Gucci Mane, this Charleston, SC native’s classic mixtape, "No Mo Mista Nice Guy," has put the streets and clubs on fire. After a few compilation releases under his own label, Dirty Dollar Entertainment, Dirty Dave decided it was time to take over a bigger audience, so he called upon Gucci Mane, Lil Ru, Pastor Troy, and few other independent artists for his debut release.

Montreal based MC Bless saw his video for the poignant April Showers featured on some of the most prominent Hip-Hop sites when it was unveiled last month, but the success it has secured on German video channel MyVideo.de has been unbelievable. The site premiered the video on Friday and it has secured 55,000 views since.

"I'm super excited about the New Year and overwhelmed by all the support April Showers is getting overseas, particularly in Germany," Bless shared. It just goes to show that there is still a great market in Europe for quality independent hip-hop and I am happy to be able to provide that."

April Showers was written after Bless lost two significant people in his life, his sister and Guru from Gangstarr who was a huge influence in the emergence of the Canadian lyricist back in the early days of his career.

"The idea for April Showers was already in the back of my mind after losing my sister, but strangely, I was unable to come up with a third verse. Guru ended up passing away in April so I found it only fitting to call the song 'April Showers,' and dedicate the rest of the track to him. This song represents the changing of seasons, the cycle of life, and new beginnings."
