From Wanja Lange:

Mixtape: Infinite Marvelous - "Spotted Horse" (Host Thomas Handsome)

This project is made off the feeling of my hood. Red hook projects. I did this for me and all my people. This story has never been told before. If you know anything about Red Hook projects; it was a hard place to live in growing up in the 70’s and the 80’s.

Not only Al Capone was born here. But there were many other gangstas from my town. A lot of crime and killing was done here. "Before the time before time". This is how Red Hook got its name. Shipmen and navy sailormen would stop at this port and trade, drink and party and death would occur from this. Red Hook was once called "Green Hook". The story will tell you how Da Hook became Red. But outside of all of that there are myths and legends and also truth to the story. There is not a lot of proof, so everybody has their own story, bits and pieces of it.

From Jerry Graham:

Video: Block McCloud & DJ Waxwork - "True Lies" f/ Vinnie Paz

An official video for Block McCloud and DJ Waxwork’s song “True Lies” featuring Vinnie Paz (Jedi Mind Tricks) is now viewable via Youtube or Vimeo (see link above). “True Lies” will appear on Block’s upcoming full-length with DJ Waxwork (formerly of Snowgoons) album “Four Walls” to be released on August 14th. The song gives an example of the dark and ponderous lyrical and musical territory on the album as Block and fellow Army Of The Pharaohs cohort Paz spit critical venom on world leaders and our Government. The video, directed by Prime Cut Film, is bookended by a video for the song “End Of Days,” which includes both emcees and originally appeared on Paz’s debut solo album Season Of The Assassin (2010).

Audio: Dark Time Sunshine - "Take My Hand" Ft. Aesop Rock & Swamburger of Solillaquists of Sound

With the July 24th release date for Dark Time Sunshine's new album, ANX, right around the corner, the duo of rapper Onry Ozzborn and producer Zavala are excited to release their latest single, "Take My Hand", a track that features Aesop Rock and Swamburger (of Solillaquists of Sound). Accompanying the new single, Dark Time Sunshine is also excited to announce that, as of this week, they're embarking on a 31-city tour opening for "Take My Hand" guest Aesop Rock.

The goal for "Take My Hand," according to Dark Time Sunshine, was to make a song that shows depth and style, and for his part, Zavala, with a layering of serene, bubbling synths, eerie vocal samples, and rolling tom-fills, kicks things off nicely. And while Onry and Aesop both impress with their verses ("The most challenging part of the song was having to re-write my verse after hearing Aesop's," jokes Onry), the standout lyric comes from Swamburger, who raps, "I am not the one to make sense of it all/ I'm a tourist, a guide/ Walk along and take my hand." "That lyric sums up the song," says Onry. "We're gonna throw a lot at you, but it's up to you to take it all in, and whatever you get out of it - that's what it is."
