From ArtistPR Music Wire:

Hot Unsigned Talent Krusaphixxx

If you're looking for an artist that has substance & soul to their music then look no further that Krusaphixxx. When listening to this emcee you will be able to close your eyes and go on a musical journey of fun, pain, happiness and excitement!!

Krusaphixxx was born Jeremy Roberts in Mississippi to Hazel Roberts. At the age of 2, Ms. Roberts, moved herself and young Kru to Memphis, Tn. There they experience many hardships and road blocks; to escape most of the violence and havoc in the hood Kru turned to rapping. Kru’s been rapping since age 13. Kru released his first solo project at the tender age of 15 entitled “Trapped” under the guidance of a man he prefers not to name.

At age 19 Kru was signed to a regional deal with Priority Records which fell through on contract disputes. Kru also was signed to Infinity Records a subsidiary of Capitol Records in 2000. That deal didn’t last as of they kept Kru on the self for two years and both sides felt it was best to part ways. So Kru along with his brother Treflon and close friend Tony Snow started their own label (P.L.U.T.O. Entertainment/P-9 ENT.) in 2002 after being sold so many dreams, so many dreams!!!

Since then Kru and his brothers Da Delta Boy Click (D.B.C.) along with the rest of the P.L.U.T.O.A.P.E.S. have been trying to get it in. Kru has performed in many concerts and worked with many local, underground and major artists, but his goals far exceed those accomplishments. He wants to be one of the most successful label owners and artist in music history. Krusaphixxx was named by Robert Kidd aka BK Juice when they were touring Mississippi together. Krusaphixxx was the perfect name because the truth in his lyrics made people want to crucify him. So, BK told him he was the Jesus Christ of Rap. Now, the way his music and lyrics touch people, the name is fitting.

Krusaphixxx performs live all over Mississippi, Tennessee, Kansas, and the entire DIRTY SOUTH! "Every show is special to me,” says Kru, "the fans are the reason I do what I do.” Nothing feels better than interacting with true fans from the stage."

Kru’s biggest influences are Scarface, The Ghetto Boys, 8 Ball and MJG, Beanie Seagal, Jay Z, Jadakiss, Mc Ren, & U.G.K.

Before the tour began, last weekend Mike and I did two shows in Toronto as part of the NXNE Festival, including opening up for Raekwon and Ghostface in front of nearly 10,000 in Yonge-Dundas Square...if you know me you know how I feel about the Wu-Tang Clan (and Mike feels the same way) so you know this was an amazing experience for Gabe the Rap Fan.

As for the first two shows of the actual tour...New Orleans was crazy last night (Curren$y stopped by) but the first show in Atlanta was insane. Mike brought out Big Boi and a few other Dungeon Family cohorts for Kryptonite and a few more jams...it was most definitely an honor to share the stage with half of the greatest hip hop group of all time.

Speaking of Big Boi, in case you missed it:

MP3: billy woods - "DMCA (Blockhead Remix)"

From Audible Treats:

MP3: billy woods - "DMCA (Blockhead Remix)"

It's been only a few short months since billy woods released his dense, mission-statement of an album, History Will Absolve Me, and already the Washington, DC-born, NYC-based lyricist is back in the studio working on new music. This time around, however, he's working with long-time Aesop Rock-producer Blockhead, and the two are currently deep into a collaborative album scheduled for release later this year. Today, Backwoodz Studioz is excited to release a remix for the the History Will Absolve Me standout "DMCA."

Although "DMCA" became a fast favorite from History Will Absolve Me, to hear billy woods tell it, the track almost didn't even make the album. "DMCA is one of those songs that I really loved but didn't expect to get the kind of love that it got," explains billy, noting that while he wasn't originally planning a remix for the track, it turns out that other artists, especially, have been drawn to the song. "I think I managed to sum up stuff that a lot of artists are dealing with right now."

While the original track, produced by Willie Green, is one of the more "boom-bap" tracks on the album, Blockhead's remix offers a darker take on the song, an ethereal swirl of bouncy congas, winding guitar riffs, and brooding synths. "Once Blockhead and I connected, I was bugging him about a remix," explains billy, recalling how the remix came to be. "We got sidetracked on the new music we're working on, but I'm glad we got this out there - not only is it a new take on 'DMCA' but it's also a little taste of the project that Blockhead and I have coming."

Film School With R.A. The Rugged Man

From Nature Sounds:

Film School With R.A. The Rugged Man

Class is now in session with Film School With R.A. The Rugged Man, a must-see new web series from MTV's Film.com hosted by rapper/film historian R.A. The Rugged Man.  "I've wrote and produced full length features, was a film columnist for Mass Appeal Magazine for 5 years, and wrote movie articles for Vibe, The Source, Complex and others," says the Rugged Man. "Basically I'm just a total geek when it comes to cinema." Shot at R.A.'s apartment, where DVDs line the walls from floor to ceiling, Film School takes you into the vaults of classic Hollywood, as R.A. waxes poetic on everything from campy horror to film noir to Blaxploitation cinema and beyond. You may not get a degree here, but you will get schooled. "I'll be dropping cinematic jewels on people every two weeks," explains R.A.  "The first episode is just an introduction but we're about to get crazy with it." Check out the first episode at the link below.
