On the heels of releasing two critically acclaimed projects (2008's "Children of God" and 2011's collaborative effort with Rugged N Raw "Mohammed Dangerfield" which featured the well-circulated cut with Immortal Technique "Break Of A Star"), Hasan Salaam returns with a new EP "Music Is My Weapon" (appearances by Steele of Smif N Wessun, Chace Infinite, Reef The Lost Cauze, Eternia and production by Snowgoons) which is scheduled to be released on 12-6-2011; and even loftier goals.
While Hasan already spends a great deal of time doing community outreach (he organizes food and clothing drives in New Jersey every month), he is using his EP to spearhead another cause he is very passionate about and hoping it can help change people's lives--- literally! Hasan will be donating all of the proceeds from the release of "Music Is My Weapon" to the "It Takes A Village" foundation to help aid the building of a school, medical clinic and clean water well in Guinea-Bissau, West Africa in an effort to provide change to a Country that remains one of the poorest and least politically stable in the world (Hasan saw this first hand in 2010 as he became the first U.S. Hip-hop artist to perform in Bissau as he headlined a concert there to promote freedom of speech).
On Monday October 31st, Hasan will release the video for "1911" and we will include more definitive information on the "It Takes A Village" initiative.

MP3: Big Pooh - "They Say (Legendary RMX) f/ Phife Dawg & T3
Courtesy Audible Treats.
Big Pooh has conjured up a whopping new remix with some big names to go along with it. "They Say," the most recent single released from Pooh's upcoming album, Dirty Pretty Things, gets a once-over by producer Focus..., along with some stellar guest verses from two rappers who have spent much of their now legendary careers unjustly overshadowed, namely, Phife Dawg of A Tribe Called Quest and T3 of Slum Village.
"I wanted to do a remix that felt like when Pete Rock or DJ Premier used to remix records, give it a whole new feel," says Big Pooh. "As I was listening to the track and thinking about the message, I reached out to two legends from legendary groups who's contributions and skills may have also been overlooked." With Big Pooh's first verse untouched, the remix moves on to Phife's honest dialogue, sparring with the opinions of music fans who have may doubted his skills as a solo artist. T3, who closes out the track, offers his own scathing bars. For his part, Focus... doesn't disappoint, flipping the Cali-vibe of the original in favor of some classic horn chops of heavy drums, swapping out Choklate's singing in lieu of some sharp scratching that serves to keep things entertaining between verses.
Devo Spice Update - New Song and The Return of Manic Mondays
Courtesy Devo Spice.
Manic Mondays is a 15-20 minute comedy show that I did from 2005-2009. It featured 3 comedy songs, News of The Stupid, and whatever other comedy bits I could think of and had time for. It was posted online late Sunday night so that it was ready for your commute back to work Monday morning. In September of 2009 I ended the show for various personal reasons. During my set at Con On The Cob I surprised the crowd by bringing it back.
Please note that iTunes still lists the old SuddenDeath.org feed which no longer works. I am trying to contact Apple to fix this but haven’t had any luck yet. I may have to just submit the new feed and hope they remove the old one.
--== NEW SONG: HOW TO SING ==-- The other thing I did at Con On The Cob during my set was debut a new song. This song is a parody of “How To Love” by Lil Wayne called “How To Sing.” It features horrible singing and annoying music, just like the original song, but unlike the original song my version has witty lyrics that actually say something.
