New Music: The One (feat. Knightstalker, Praverb the Wyse, Cira, Dj Fejm) - Year of the Dragon

Polish beatmaker The One contacted me (Praverb the Wyse) about this song a few months ago and we agreed that the title "Year of the Dragon" would work. We recruited the insanely talented German emcee Knightstalker, Polish emcee Cira, and Polish Turntablist Dj Fejm. Adam's World Weekly 5/28 - Separating Yourself From The Pack

Adam's World Weekly 5/28 - Separating Yourself From The Pack

Welcome to the new week everyone. I hope everyone who has today off is enjoying their Memorial Day. My week was an interesting one. On the good side of things I saw my friend Darian Cunning perform (the pics from the show are in this update), on the bad side of things I severely sprained my right big toe, which is now a lovely shade of purple. Thankfully the injury wasn't to my hands, so I can still give you this week's update, which is led off by an article on how some of the publicists I work with have separated themselves from the pack. I also have great interviews with Blockhead and Molly Moore, photo galleries from Darian Cunning's show and Enter The Cypher, a super creative Vid Pick from Vinnie Scullo, and an all new Pop Shots that takes a look at the Billboard singles chart and does a little ranting and raving about some of the songs on there.

If you dig any of these features please feel free to forward this email to a friend. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, and enjoy!

Separating Yourself From The Pack - The Story of My 450 PR Contacts

Last week I cleaned up my contact list and found I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 450 publicist email address, the vast majority of which have been obtained through receiving emails promoting artists. When you work with that many people at once, and that many people are sending you emails on a regular basis, a lot of it can become a blur. Since there isn’t enough time in the day to read every press release and listen to every album download sent, an obvious question is how have some publicists made it so that I always open their emails, listen to the music they send (even if it’s not in my preferred physical format), and set up features for their artists on a regular basis? The answer is - it’s all about the relationship.

Everyone starts out with an email relationship. The publicists that go beyond that are the ones who win. With that in mind, I’ve put together a quick list of four ways I’ve witnessed publicists make themselves stand out from their peers, and separate themselves from the pack. These ideas don't just apply to the publicist - writer relationship, though, they apply to all business relationships, so extrapolate away!

Pop Shots - A Look At The Charts

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with some Billboard singles chart analysis. I haven’t done this since February, so I felt it was about time to break down who’s making moves, and what I really think of their latest hits. The chart positions I'm using are from the Billboard Hot 100 as it was listed on last week, and since this is Pop Shots, you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

Blockhead - The Sweets Sounds of Public Access TV & Breaking Tradition
Interludes after midnight can be anything from a frantic rush to catch a train, to an encounter with someone you’d like to slow down and spend some quality time with. For producer Blockhead it’s the title of his latest album as he looks to use his unique brand of hip-hop meets downtempo instrumental production to encapsulate one of the biggest post-midnight influences from his childhood - New York public access television. It may seem like a non-traditional topic to create an album around, but as Blockhead told me, it’s not the only way he’s breaking tradition with Interludes After Midnight. When he sat down for our exclusive interview he revealed not just how public access TV inspired him, but also the intricacies of his evolving relationship with music.

Molly Moore - The Daylight Cometh

Everyone experiences darkness in their lives, which is why 19-year-old pop singer/songwriter Molly Moore made her debut album about pushing oneself Into The Daylight.

"This EP is about getting through that darkness," she explains, "reminding yourself that there's light on the other end and that it's worth fighting for. [It's about] learning from the mistakes and pain you go through and figuring out a little more about who you are as a person from those experiences."

Moore is speaking, and singing, from firsthand experience...
