PR: Azad Celebrates Album Release & Performs at Woodstock

PR: Azad Celebrates Album Release & Performs at Woodstock

Los Angeles, CA ~ The week or so since his debut street album, "The Time Is Right" dropped has been a very busy time for up-and-comer Azad Right, beginning with his Hollywood release party at Hemingways. Known to think outside the box, Azad had local live artist Gena Milanesi capturing moments from the night on canvas during the event, including a painting of his album cover, during his performance. Azad debuted "Alone" and "Showtime" from his newly released project.

Azad was joined on stage by his producer, Professor O, at the Dolce Vodka sponsored event with an additional performance cameo by EQ. The happy crowd walked away with specially-created Azad Right chocolate bars.

Then it was off to New York's Woodstock Film Festival for Azad where writer-director Katja Esson's documentary, "Poetry of Resilience" won for 'Best Documentary Short.' The 40-minute film documents a gathering of six poets from around the world who survived some of the worst political atrocities of the 20th Century, including Azad's own father, renowned Iranian poet, Majid Naficy. "Trapped Outside", a song Azad wrote at the age of 18, were featured in the film, which touches on how his father's talent and love for writing have been passed down to his now 23 year old son. Azad then performed his spoken word piece "The Choir" before the spellbound audience.

Rapping since the age of 14, Azad is no stranger to laying his thoughts before a live audience. He was in fact discovered by Adidas in 2010 and tapped for their international spoken word campaign. He has since gone on to open for the likes of Redman and Method Man, Kendrick Lamar and most recently, Jay Rock at his recent Key Club concert. Azad released his debut street album, "The Time Is Right" via DJBooth.net on September 21st - http://www.djbooth.net/index/mixtapes/entry/azad-right-time-is-right

Presented by Animal Bikes and Chess Move Cartel, Live from the Streets is a video series created by beatmaker Mr. Green and director Sam Lipman-Stern. The series is based around showcasing street musicians and turning their performances into hip hop beats. New episodes will be released every two weeks.

In the second episode of Live From The Streets you find yourself at Philadelphia's First Friday with Peter Gaffney, the co-founder/director of Cabaret Redlight. Cabaret Redlight is a Philly based theater group that performs vaudeville, burlesque, spoken word and puppet theater, set to original music by the band The Blazing Cherries. Peter was playing his accordion on the street while promoting for his show "The Man from Orphan Island" (which unfortunately is no longer running) and was cool enough to agree to be a part of Live from the Streets. The beat "Live Gypsy Swing Music" will be available on itunes and at greenhiphop.com very soon. For more information on Peter and his group, check out cabaretredlight.com.

If you know of a street musician or sound that you would
like to see in a future episode, contact: livefromstreet@gmail.com.

A full Live from the Streets hip hop album
featuring rappers and singers is in the works.

Press Release: Jailhouse "Lockdown" f/ Sir Tomz, Cyrus & More

There's been no doubting that Sir Tomz and his label Jailhouse Records have been making noise. Sir Tomz is no new comer to the UK Hip-Hop scene and has indeed featured on, produced and remixed tracks for Big Dada Records including a Roots Manuva remix, as well as featuring on a compilation album by Tim Westwood. Sir Tomz has played live all over the UK, Spain, France and other European countries and is an artist with a vision and a work ethic to compliment it. With this experience in check and general passion for music running through his veins, Sir Tomz & Jailhouse are holding it for the Midlands and the whole of the UK.

'Lockdown' is the latest release from Jailhouse and is a must buy epic twenty track album. Featuring some of the finest artists in Birmingham the album features the talents of Sir Tomz, Nih'illi, Cyrus, Blackitude and Juice Aleem, and is produced entirely by Sir Tomz. Sir Tomz also decided to remix five of the tracks from the album over industry beats and then dropped two music videos for them both having over 4000 hits on You Tube. Remixes have been used on mixtapes from DJ Ames, as well the remixes being used on US released mixtape from DJ 5X & Coast2Coast Mixtapes 'International Speaker Box 2' which was hosted by Sir Tomz.

Support for the album from Hip-Hop fans has been overwhelming for an underground release with various leading websites all posting frequent news about the album release. New York based website RealHipHopDaily.com said 'Jailhouse Ltd look like a camp to offer and with a more universal sound that a lot of the grime/pop rap that is coming from that side of the world', while the long running UK website RagoMagazine.com said 'there's a lot of good music here, its Birmingham Hip-Hop with style, finesse and originality' and UndergroundPhenomenon.com said 'This is quality and a level above your average UK Hip-Hop album, this is a massive release that has been made with honesty, integrity and honour.'
