Jaimar is a fresh exciting rapper Born in London UK, raised in Ohio USA. He is developing an impressive following within the Hip Hop scene, which is constantly growing from all directions. Although being British born, Jaimar spent a majority of his life living in the US, it was at this stage in his life where he managed to develop his unique sound. Growing up listening to Hip Hop artists such as Kanye West, Common and Tribe Called Quest gave him inspiration to start writing, Jaimar expresses that his meaningful lyrics is influenced by his experiences and those around him.

DLBA's Long Beach Funk Fest This Saturday, July 6

The culture and sustainability series Summer and Music (SAM), sponsored by the Downtown Long Beach Associates (DLBA), will host its fifth annual Long Beach Funk Fest (LBFF) this Saturday, July 6, from noon to 11 p.m. at the Downtown Long Beach Promenade (east of Pine Avenue between 1st & 3rd Streets).

Organizers are excited to host LBFF over the Fourth of July weekend, dubbing it “Funk of July” and highlighting it as a fun way to celebrate the holiday. 2013 LBFF Funk of July artists include Shuggie Otis, Charles Wright and the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, Blackbyrds, Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Circle City Band, Jungle Fire, Henry + the Invisibles, and the Funk Angels.

LBFF will also feature the first ever Freedom of Funk Fireworks Display, presented by Farmers and Merchants Bank and City Place shopping center. The show is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:30 p.m., immediately preceding the evening’s final act -- legendary Funk artist Shuggie Otis.

Funk of July will include a full day’s worth of memorable funk performances on two stages, several DJs, dancers, two beer gardens (presented by Beachwood BBQ & Brewing and Congregation Ale House) and a variety of on-site activities and vendors.

$15 presale LBFF tickets can be can be purchased at www.lbfunkfest.com or in person at Fingerprints Music (420 E. 4th Street Long Beach). Tickets will also be available at the gate for $20.
