Coming on the heels of a prolific 2012, which included a 45-city tour with Mac Miller in the first half of 2012 and a recently completed West Coast run with Pac Div in the fall of 2012 and becoming a full-fledged member of Curren$y’s Jet Life crew, Sir Michael Rocks took the music world by storm with the advanced and mature sound found on his stellar Lap of Lux mixtape as he continues to show why he is one of Hip-Hop’s top emerging talents.
Lap Of Lux has been featured in XXL Magazine, Wall Street Journal, MTV, Playboy and a virtual who’s who of A-List Print magazine, net sites and blogs and even became a “Trending Topic” on Twitter. With over 150K downloads alone on Datpiff.com (where it was also the top download performer for the month of August 2012) Mikey also premiered videos from the project with esteemed outlets such as Fader.com, Complex.com and MTV (who premiered the fan-favorite “Great,” which also featured Mac Miller & Casey Veggies).
Just as he did with his break-out solo mixtape, Premier Politics, Sir Michael Rocks is releasing a revamped and entirely new companion piece to Lap Of Lux; Lap Of Lux 1.5, which features collaborations with Harry Fraud, his Cool Kid brethren Chuck Inglish and Cardo.
In addition to the release of Lap Of Lux 1.5 today, Sir Michael Rocks will also be releasing a new video for another Lap Of Lux standout, “Reservations,” which features G.O.O.D. Music signee Teyena Taylor and will be exclusively premiered by MTV.

Bay Area based label, Browntown Wreckords, is proud to announce the upcoming Ep from Paulie Rhyme + Deedot (aka Public Radio) with the release of their first single, T.R.A.N.S. Connecting in 2007 to drop their debut album, Paulie Rhyme and Deedot present Public Radio, the project hit the top 10 on the CMJ charts, garnered international acclaim, and established the duo on the indie touring circuit.
Both have continued to put out music together and separately, with Deedot engineering and producing for national Hip Hop, Reggae, and Pop artists and Paulie Rhyme working with the likes of Prince Po, Mick Boogie, The Bangerz, Nomak, and Tofubeats. For those still out the loop, MMG and Blackhouse offer up “Lectrivunkin” for you to sample. Let the proverbial needle drop on a decent sound system and watch as people’s heads begin to bob, hips start to sway, and vibrations rise. The synth carves deep, producing a sound both beautiful and ominous. The nearly four minute song is vocal-less save for a sample reminding you the energy of this track is “out of control.”
Veteran Bay Area Rapper/Producer E-A-Ski Gearing Up For The Release Of His Long Overdue, Eagerly Awaited "Official" 2nd Solo LP, "5th of Skithoven!"
Courtesy Todd Davis.
Veteran West Coast rapper/producer, E-A-Ski, is currently prepping for the release of several high profile projects throughout the remainder of 2012 and beyond.
E-A Ski just unleashed the mega-popular, star-studded, “Cruise Control,” short-film video featuring Award-winning actor Danny Glover and long-time Ski collaborator, rapper Ice Cube. The Rock Jacobs-directed visual has already garnered more than 4 million views through a variety of major media outlets; MTV, Vibe, HipHopDX, AllHipHop, VladTV, among others. The single is the follow-up to another Cube-assisted, equally infectious, joint entitled “Please,” with both songs taken from Ski’s long overdue, highly anticipated 5th of Skithoven, due out early next year.
Before that, however, the Oakland, California native musician is planning to drop an EP, 4th of Skithoven, as a precursor of sorts to his next solo LP, just to tide over his legions of fans worldwide. In addition, E-A-Ski was recently nominated as Producer of the Decade at the 2012 West Coast Hip-Hop Awards.
As if that isn’t enough, “Mr. Ski” is staying very busy in the lab behind the boards contributing his sample-free unique style of live instrumentations for a who’s who of A-list artists; including, Ice Cube, Kelly Rowland, Nelly, former Dr. Dre protégé Slim The Mobster, and many more soon-to-be announced.
E-A Ski is also in the midst of expanding his I.M.G.M.I. empire by serving as current spokesperson and consultant for Native Instruments’ new groove production studio, known as the “Maschine,” as well as Akai’s new “MPC Renaissance,” which was first unveiled at the NAMM [National Association of Music Merchants] Show in Anaheim, California, in January ‘12.
About Ea-Ski: The musical roots of E-A Ski can be traced back within the concrete history of Bay Area soil -- where you can find his musical fingerprints with Spice-1 before -- and during -- his tenure with Jive Records, and Master P’s early success with No Limit Records, where Ski served as an original member of The Tank’s TRU collective, alongside P, King George, Big Ed and Rally Ral. E-A Ski dropped his debut offering, “1 Step Ahead of Y’all,” through In-A-Minute/No Limit back in 1992.
5th of Skithoven, which also contains appearances from Freeway, Tech N9ne, B-Real of Cypress Hill fame and Locksmith, to name some, will finally be unveiled in early 2013...
