@ProdigyMobbDeep Drops July 3rd f/ Wiz Khalifa, T.I. Havoc

From Kelly K:

PR: Prodigy's H.N.I.C. 3 Drops July 3 f/ Wiz Khalifa, T.I. Havoc & More

New York, NY - Prodigy, one half of seminal rap duo Mobb Deep, will release his third solo album H.N.I.C. 3 on July 3, 2012. The album marks the first full length release on Infamous Record. The imprint, which inked a distribution deal with Sony/RED Distribution last year, released the Mobb Deep EP Black Cocaine at the end of 2011.

For the current project, Prodigy has enlisted producers The Alchemist, S.C., Young L, Sid Roams, Ty Fyffe and Beat Butch. Among other guest appearances, Wiz Khalifa joins the HNIC on "Co-Pilot" while T.I. guest stars on the track "What's Happening" which he also produced. Havoc lends a verse on "Who You Bullsh****n" and Willie Taylor of Day 26 provides the hook for the track "My Angel."

The album will be released in both physical and digital formats and it will be available in a variety of versions: the regular full length version in dirty and clean versions (sixteen tracks), the Deluxe version (explicit full length plus four bonus tracks) and a Prodigy documentary on DVD, a FYE Exclusive version (explicit full length plus a Mobb Deep documentary on DVD), a iTunes Exclusive version (explicit version plus four bonus tracks) and, last but nor least, an exclusive Crickett Wireless Mobile-Only version (explicit full length plus two bonus tracks.)

H.N.I.C. 3 is the third installment of the H.N.I.C. series. The first H.N.I.C. album dropped in 2000 and received notable critical acclaim. The second H.N.I.C. project dropped in 2008 as Prodigy was entering prison to serve a three year bid for illegal gun possession.

Prodigy, along with long time partner Havoc, joined the line up of the Rock The Bells festival in 2011, as well as the Rock The Bells Tour that kept the group on the road for most of the summer. This year, Prodigy will join the festival again to promote his solo effort.

The week prior to the album release, the HN will embark on a series of promo activities that so far includes a take-over at Sirius XM Radio, guest editor position at prominent media outlets, a guest appearance on Hot 97's "Street Soldiers" show along with writer Michelle Alexander, author of the best selling book The New Jim Crow. Prodigy is also featured, along with "trainer" Killer Mike, on the episode of the MTV show Made that will air on June 19 at 4 pm EST.

G.Huff & Vice Souletric Get Co-Sign from Scarface & Pete Rock

From Matt B:

PR: G.Huff & Vice Souletric Get Co-Sign from Scarface & Pete Rock On New Track

G. Huff and Vice Souletric have quickly become two of the most respected new Hip-Hop artists to come out the Midwest. The Ohio MC/Producer duo made waves in 2011 with their debut album, Where Do We Go From Here?, which featured a who's who of talent such as Guilty Simpson, REKS, Termanology, and more. In addition, Vice will have production on upcoming albums from Scarface, Reek Da Villian and others in 2012.

As a duo G.Huff and Vice are now set to follow up with a new EP, Are We There Yet?, a carefully crafted masterpiece packed with lyricism, soul, and energy. It’s a recipe the duo knows how to cook up so well! Not only do Huff and Vice receive the co-signs of hip hop legends Pete Rock and Scarface (who grace the intro of “Tears In A Bucket”), they create their own lane with an original sound that is unique yet universal enough for all to enjoy!

"Tears In A Bucket” was created and influenced by a domestic violence incident as G.Huff explains "Tears In A Bucket” is a song that is based loosely on an event that took place not too long ago involving an acquaintance of mine. Domestic violence is a subject most artists shy away from, but I felt we could bring light to this issue in a dope way, without being  preachy, and still making good music. I hand-picked male vocalist, JTronius, and female R&B singer, Alison Carney too add authentic emotion to the track. The sample Vice chose for this beat provided the perfect backdrop for the story I told. I think this song will hit home with both men and women."

@Oddisee "Way In Way Out" + NEW ALBUM RELEASE!

From Mello Music Group:

Oddisee "Way In Way Out" + NEW ALBUM RELEASE!

Oddissee’s new full length LP, People Hear What They See, seems poised to cement its author as one of the elite MCs/producers in underground hip-hop. Mello Music Group is proud to let off the first leak with “Way In, Way Out" to celebrate the new album's official itunes debut today!

* *

One of the shining aspects of Oddissee’s work has always been its implicit emphasis on inclusion rather than exclusion. In other words, while certain platinum selling artists might constantly reinforce how different he is than his audience, the DMV’s prodigal son’s bars come from a much more grounded place. “Way In, Way Out” opens with a robust brass line and a pounding kick to match. Oddissee waste’s no time painting an allegory exploring the gaping American divide between the truly wealthy and the rest of us, and the precarious cycles that emerge from it. Much like his synesthetic title suggests, Oddissee’s rhymes are vivid and visual.
Towards the end of the second verse, Oddissee integrates a bar from Jay-Z’s “Can’t Knock The Hustle” into a scathing analysis of the American justice system, seamlessly of course.  While he might not have the paper and popularity of Hov , there is something to be said about the level of mastery Oddissee has shown in so many aspects of underground hip-hop in a relatively short time. Far from being God but he works goddamn hard.

MP3: St. Joe Louis x Flying Lotus - "Say A Prayer" (@Dub_MD)

From DubMD84:

MP3: St. Joe Louis x Flying Lotus - "Say A Prayer"

Sexting is not direct enough for NJ / Texas trio St. Joe Louis. Each group member delivers a phone call full of game on their freshly minted first single 'Say A Prayer,' from their upcoming St Joe Lotus EP. Say A Prayer capitalizes on the lush Flying Lotus production with each lucky lady receiving her deepest desires by the earful.

* *

The 'St. Joe Lotus EP' is St. Joe Louis collaborating in a very internet way with Flying Lotus. Obviously fans of Flying Lotus in that his production is presented untouched except for vocal additions. Beginning with the Lotus Sutra each song is almost a meditation on a diverse array of subjects from dangerous relationships (Lion and the Lotus) to idolization (So Much More). It currently has no scheduled release date but expect it sooner than you think.

From Matt B:

Video: Illus f/ Chuuwee - "Son Of A Beat"

On Family First, Illus collaborates lyrically and sonically with some of best emcees and producers in the business. Each emcee featured is also the producer of the track they appear on and this collaborative process is a first for any Hip-Hop project.    Family First is also co-produced by Public Enemy luminary DJ Johnny Juice and the star-studded guest emcee/producer list includes; Apathy, Ill Bill, Blueprint, J-Live, Erin Barra, Headsnack, Phashara, Chuuwee, Esoteric and more.

"Son of a Beat” is a hard hitting, soulful track by two of Underground HipHop's most talented emcees. Together, Illus and Chuuwee, utilize the the mic to invoke the power of positive social change, and revolution for peace, equality and justice. The very essence of HipHop."
