I Don't Know Ya is the first single off of THE EMPTY THEATER, a project from one of North Carolina's best kept secrets; New Bern native Chedda Chapp. The project was produced primarily by Nerv Reck, best known as J Cole's mentor, who also serves as Chapp's manager. Jack Davey, frontwoman for the electro-soul duo J*Davey, who've graced the cover of LA Weekly's Beautiful People issue and won over the hearts of your favorite musicians' favorite musicians such as Prince and ?uestlove, has been experimenting with a solo sound, one that's much more rock-driven than before. Says Jack, "This project is definitely a departure from the lush soundscapes and sexual overtones that make J*Davey special; it's straight to the gut, a bit easier to swallow, but still edgy."
Although Seattle's Dyme Def hasn't released new music since last December's full length release of Yuk The World, group members Fearce & BeanOne have been steadily dropping new material, which include their mixtape There Goes The Neighborhood, in addition to several leaks, as well as a hail of videos for their songs "Let It Be," "I Want It All," and "Bully," the latter of which shed's light on the international epidemic. For the duo's latest leak "That Aint Hip Hop???," Fearce challenges your right to judge what is or is not Hip-Hop over BeanOne's moving guitar loops and boom-bap percussion. This song has not been tied to any forthcoming projects, however you can rest assured that more material is underway.
Following the success of the first single "Going Nowhere" off of his forthcoming project The Storm, Raleigh, North Carolina native S.GOLD just dropped another track off of the project called "Hey Baby" produced by Streets.
