VAlien....It's what I've become over the years. Being a VAlien is not solely about being from Virginia. It's about accepting who you are in a society full of so many people trying to fit in. With this project I wanted to give people something to feel proud of, relate to, and enjoy life to all in one. As long as one song touches somebody then my mission is complete. We are all VAliens.

With this summer being one of the hottest summers Chicago has seen in recent time (nationwide for that matter), it is only appropriate that Simeon Viltz of The Primeridian and Mulatto Patriot (collectively named Ray Elementary) drop the first video for their song "Hot Day" off their self titled debut album dropping October 5th on World Teacher Day. The collective consists of Simeon Viltz as the emcee and Mulatto Patriot on production while the Ray Elementary album includes features from Uncle Imani of The Pharcyde, Psalm One, Pugs Atomz, Neak, Sincerely Yours, Maggie of Sidewalk Chalk, Squair Blaq of Animate Objects & The Chicago Afrobeat Project, Race of The Primeridian and more...

Courtesy 'Stache Media.
Slightly Stoopid is sitting on Top of the World this week, as the band's seventh studio release entered the Billboard 200 at #13 as well as the Billboard Independent Albums chart at #3. It's the long-running band's highest charting album on the Billboard charts. Top of the World also debuted on Billboard's Rock Albums and Alternative Albums charts with a final position of No. 4. Helping power the band's march up the charts is a loyal fan base that has come out in droves to support the band as they heat up the summer on the Unity Tour 2012 with 311. Meanwhile, a radio version of the album's title track recently became a popular addition to radio playlists nationwide, including tastemakers KROQ (Los Angeles,) 91X (San Diego) and SF's Live 105.
In reaction to the chart success, Slightly Stoopid co-founder Miles Doughty noted, "It's a good feeling to have our best-ever Billboard debut. We owe it all to our fans for their incredible loyalty and support."
To give fans worldwide a taste of what's put them on the charts, Slightly Stoopid will perform live four times over the next month. First up is the "Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ" at 4:20 pm PST on August 23, when fans are invited to take a front row seat via www.kroq.com/soundspace and www.redbullusa.com/soundspace. Tastemaker indie music website Daytrotter will unveil a previously recorded acoustic session with the band on August 31. Then on September 17, they will perform live on SiriusXM. Television viewers across the nation will also get a chance to check out Slightly Stoopid when the group appears on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, September 12 to play their single, "Top of the World," and previous radio hit "2AM" from their 2007 album Chronchitis, which was the #1 most played on more than 20 stations nationwide.
Also, Slightly Stoopid and Promojam just announced a contest by which you can connect and share with your friends to receive a free exclusive "Top of the World (alt mix)" and the song "Don't Stop." Video: Jamieson - "Devil You Know, Devil You Don't"
Jamieson teams up with MonStar films to create the visual for “Devil You Know, Devil You Don’t,” the latest track from his EP “I Came, I Saw Vol. III” released earlier this summer. After the success of "I Get Busy" his lead single, Jamieson takes the opportunity to do what he does best, as he narrates the story of an unfortunate soul whose night out leads him right into a devious plot for revenge against him.
