As gritty as the Mississippi streets he grew up on, Bryant Williams, better known as Brian Grind, is smashing through the hip hop game with an impeccable flow and fascinating lyrical content. Fresh on the heels of his new EP, Grind Hard and Play Later, this budding Dirty South superstar is putting his talent on display for fans across the country. With an ironclad reputation and a relentless work ethic, Grind is quickly making a name for himself as one of the top up and comers in the constantly growing and changing hip hop music scene.
Born and raised in Mississippi, Grind was heavily influenced by two different worlds with polar opposite values, creating a distinct air of conflict throughout his upbringing. Despite his close relationship with a pair of loving, religious grandparents, he was quickly enamored by life on the streets, which helped shape his raw lyrical flow and gangster-inspired content. His experiences with hustling, which inspired his moniker of Brian Grind, run deep throughout each of the tracks, serving as a soundtrack to the streets and lifestyle of a determined, young entrepreneur.
Grind's uncle, Napoleon Williams also played an integral part in his musical upbringing, flying him out from steamy Mississippi to the sunny Bay area to lend a hand on projects with his record label, Napo Entertainment. Drawing from classic influences such as Tupac and Scarface, as well as Southern heavy hitters like 3-Six Mafia and Project Pat, Grind continued to sculpt a unique, captivating style which only continues to improve with age.
Loaded with stories from the streets and references to gangster culture, Grind's debut weaves interesting tales with infectious club beats, keeping the vibe fresh from start to finish. Tracks such as "DJ Turn it Up," "She's Choosey," "Boppers," and "Don't Play No Games" are clear cut standouts, exhibiting some of this Mississippi native's most skillful work to date.
Grind commented on his record, saying "It's what you hear in the streets…but yet it is fresh enough to move crowds in the clubs."
Grind Hard and Play Later is currently available in stores, with digital downloads, as well as other singles available from retailers such as iTunes, Amazon, Best Buy, FYE, and Borders. Check out his official MySpace and ReverbNation pages for streaming audio, upcoming tour dates, and photos of Mississippi's next hip hop phenomenon.

UNDRCRWN and Mixstream presents Excursions: Rarities and Remixes of A Tribe Called Quest by Mick Boogie
Here's a quote from Mick Boogie regarding this excellent mixtape, " A Tribe Called Quest is one of my favorite groups of all time... in any genre of music. After seeing Michael Rapaport's amazing documentary on the group, I felt inspired to put together a mix and this is the end result. This is NOT a greatest hits mix. This mix is for the true Tribe fans only... the die-hards who know every lyric and remember every interlude. I thought it would be cool to basically create the "lost" Tribe album... with all the rare songs, demos, limited-edition remixes, and collaborations you may have missed over the years. I hope when you enjoy this as much as I do, and hear some things you have never heard before. Special thank you to UNDRCRWN for the amazing artwork. Long live A Tribe Called Quest!"
So Cecil Otter & Swiss Andy thought of this crazy idea of Wu-Tang Clan spitting over hardcore D.C. punk band Fugazi's thrashing beats. And guess what? IT SURPRISINGLY WORKS! Don't believe me? I'll let you check it out yourself. Wu-Tang Clan and the $5 Band ain't nothing ta F wit'!

Seattle MC Macklemore and his producer/DJ Ryan Lewis have released the riveting and heartfelt video for “Wings,” which premiered over at XXL Magazine's homepage yesterday. On the track Macklemore raps in his distinctly soulful and raspy tone, crafting a vivid narrative that transforms into a mini-epic over Lewis’ cinematic production. Since teaming up two years ago, the pair have been on a non-stop tear, garnering critical acclaim and a dedicated fanbase through a series of self-released projects. They now have multiple songs with over 1 million views on YouTube, and last year’s VS (Redux)EP landed at #7 on the iTunes Hip Hop charts.
Additionally, the duo’s highly praised live shows have led to performances at places like the Rock The Bells Tour, Fader Fort at SXSW, Sasquatch Festival, and Outside Lands. Macklemore and Lewis are now one of the premiere hip hop acts out of the Pacific Northwest, and with the release of the “Wings” video, are on the brink of their national breakthrough.
Producer and bassist Headnodic is a musical time-traveler. His exploration into the furthest reaches of rhythm and melody, from golden era rap to 70's fusion jazz, has inspired an original and profound voice in hip-hop. Whether he's sampling, chopping, and re-constructing breaks, or fluently performing on any number of vintage instruments, the aesthetic of a well seasoned crate-digger is apparent.
His collaborations with many of the most notable names in Indy hip-hop have yielded dynamic results, exhibiting his musical elasticity. Some of these collaborators include, MF Doom, Jr. Gong Damian Marley, Brother Ali, Mr. Lif, Lyrics Born, Ladybug Mecca, DJ Shadow, Tash, People Under The Stairs, Oh No, Chali 2na, Zion I, The Grouch, Casual, Mystic, Sadat X, and Del the Funky Homosapien.
Trained as a bass player at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, it was there that he met the members of what would later become the hip-hop band, Crown City Rockers, (originally called Mission: ). He has furnished the "low-end" for Crown City Rockers for over a decade now and he has produced, recorded, and engineered a bulk of the group's catalog. In 2008, Headnodic joined forces with Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Lateef the Truth Speaker (Latyrx) to form the indy-hop super group, The Mighty Underdogs (Def Jux / Quannum).
Headnodic has also released a number of instrumental albums including "Tuesday" and "Headnodic Beats Vol.1" (Insiduous Urban Records), as well as the "Now A Daze / The Drive" 12" (with MC Zion & The Procussions) (Tres Records). Headnodic's forthcoming album "Red Line Radio" (7-26-2011) will mark the full length debut of Headnodic as a headlining artist, and it's a firm indication that his musical explorations are already becoming the classics of the future.

Cold Heat - 'Raising The Bar' (LP) - Is Now Available
The Queens based hip-hop duo consisting Jak D (MC) and Jay W (producer), better known as Cold Heat, are pleased to present their third LP, Raising The Bar, which drops today through Soulspazm Digital. Raising The Bar continues in the tradition of both of their previous ‘bar’ themed releases, Bar Hoppin and LIfe Behind Bars, respectively. With their latest effort, the duo declare their emancipation, showcasing a discernible maturation as artist and producer. The duplicity of the title suggests that they have raised their own quality standards, but have also upped the ante in the game as whole “…the price of liquor just went up” says Jak D.
Features on Raising The Bar include Sadat X, mixtape icon J-Love, Blaq Poet (of Screwball), Craig G, Blacastan, Meyhem Lauren (of The Outdoorsmen), Nico The Beast, SR, Neta and Keith Spitz.
There is no question that the Queens-duo break new ground with their latest effort. Cold Heat deliver their benchmark album that is as conceptually diverse and honest as it is braggadocio and animated. As of today, there is a new gold standard - the bar has officially been raised. Be sure to show support for this album which is now featured in the New Albums and EPs section of iTunes (Hip Hop/Rap).

Animal Farm Surprise Shows and Gen.Erik Says Goodbye to Portland
July 21, 2011- Portland, OR: As the promising Hip-Hop group Animal Farm continues to increase their International buzz, Producer/ MC Gen.Erik has decided to leave the group's Portland, OR home base in favor of New York City. The move is geared to expand the reach of Animal Farm, as well as Gen.Erik's Focused Noise Productions.
As a going away present, Gen.Erik is giving away a free song entitled "Dear Portland", an ode to the city where he made his musical mark and has called his home for over 10 years. In the clever song, Gen.Erik addresses Portland in an extended metaphor in which he painfully breaks off a relationship with the city he loves. He also utilizes a number of references that are best associated with the City of Roses and home of the Blazers to tell his story. "Dear Portland" was also produced by Gen.Erik and features the precise DJ Wels, also from Animal Farm.
Prior to Gen.Erik's departure, the Animal Farm crew decided to give the city of Portland another present, executing three recent surprise pop up shows in one day. Without prior warning, Animal Farm's Hanif Wondir, Serge Severe, Fury, Gen.Erik, DJ Wels, and B-boy Deff Ro pulled up to three unadvertised locations, jumped out of the back of a rigged up U-Haul, and proceeded to attract crowds who were magnetized to their high energy showmanship. The footage from these shows will soon be available. In the meantime, check out this entertaining trailer at http://youtu.be/74eME8O1fV0 .
