VICE's Noisey premiered the track, noting how the combination of her vocals and the "lush, pillowy arrangements" leads the listener to reflect on life. Nylo gives a little guidance about the sort of reflection she is encouraging: "People, even more than things, need to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Never throw anyone out." Nylo's full project Indigo Summer will be released for free on July 16th.

Chicago's musical landscape is built around clear binaries, just like the city from which it has grown. While Jahzel draws from the soulfulness of the city's musical past, he is focused on showing the full range of his artistic complexity, contradictions and all, and breaking down possible categorizations.

"As a human being, I go through a range of emotions. Some days I might feel righteous, some days I might feel braggadocious," he says. "I wanted to communicate that range on In God's Image," his new album that drops today. This range is mirrored by the musical influences that pop up throughout the album, from breezy jazz to torturous soul to trunk-rattling trap-this melange comes together around his stories, giving them each their space.

As the album came together, Jahzel felt the difference from his previous works: "I took this serious as more of a full album release, while my last project Jet Lag was a true mixtape." The care is evident as he taps into the different strands of his city, collaborating with Noelz Vedere, Mathien, A-Cross, Meagan McNeal, and Whitney Rene. The project also features extensive collaboration with Maybach Music Group/Wale producer Tone P.

Somewhere between poverty and fame - is the rest of us: Ugly Heroes. We're regular people doing what we've got to do to get by. That might mean working dead-end jobs; it might mean drinking a little too much; it might mean thoughts of petty crime. For many without a rope to hold onto to, without a way out to make that move, we wonder what we're supposed to do. It's enough to make you desperate.

Before reading the press release for YC The Cynic’s new album GNK, I thought Kickstarter campaigns were something that only worked when supported by megalithic selfish celebrities in the vein of Zach Braff. However, having raised $5000 in funds, the Bronx MC is set to put out his new LP this summer.

On Friday, June 28, 2013, Jadakiss was featured in the Hip Hop Improv Show - TAKE IT PERSONAL presented by Hot 97's Cipha Sounds and Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), the top improv theatre and school in NYC. Improvisers Nick Kroll, Eugene Cordero, Joe Weingert, John Gemberling, Fran Gillespie, D'arcy Carden, George Basil, Mile Still, Cipha Sounds, Anthony Atamanuik Abra Tabak, Brandon Gardner, Phil Jackson, Ryan Karels, Neil Cassey, Annie Barry, and Christian Capozzoli reenacted stories originally told by Jadakiss.

Jadakiss told an unforgettable story about the first time he met The Notorious B.I.G. and invited him to his 21st birthday party. Cipha Sounds said, "Hip Hop improv is taking over the world. Jadakiss walked into the event not knowing what the hell was going on and what I wanted him to do. He ended the night laughing hysterically and saying he wants to do the actual improv next time. Everyone loves it after they see it one time."

Take it Personal will continue every Friday at the legendary UCB Theater.

Music was provided by Hot 97's DJ Spynfo.
