Underground rap legend R.A. The Rugged Man is currently wrapping up work on his highly anticpated new album Legends Never Die. During a recent studio session, R.A. and Danish singer Amalie Bruun took a break from recording to preview some exclusive new music from the album. R.A. also gets Amalie to sing her part from Vinnie Paz's recent single "Nosebleed," and attempts to get her to recreate R.A.'s infamous collaboration with The Notorious B.I.G. Shockingly, Amalie's a little uncomfortable singing about ripping cunts out with spoons. Legends Never Die coming soon on Nature Sounds.
PRODUCTION BY: THAIONE DAVIS x THE GEAUX 'SEVENTEEN' AVAILABLE NOW (BANDCAMP) + iTUNES (28TH)
After taking a break from film, Thaione Davis returns with a brash offering of poignant lyricism over temperamental beats. Officially noted as his 8th studio album, 'Seventeen' takes shape over a non-sample based canvas and is largely self-produced by one of Chicago’s most elusive contributors to the culture. 'Seventeen' is a care-free journey of youth with no fear or inhibitions from establishment. It is the attitude of pure disregard towards failure and the premise of abandonment. Pure grit. The overtone is calm yet the delivery is as paramount as ever. Since his original debut on vinyl, and twelve years later of rhyming, producing, and djing worldwide, it comes as no surprise the depth of control displayed and the passion that interweaves along this 13 track opus.
Although there are no guest appearances on the microphone, there are a few slaps produced by his musical partner in crime, the GEAUX. With every track being played live, the array of sounds ranging from sparse upright bass, circuit bending Moog, electro-Theremin, and drippy drums combine to create collages of no nonsense hip hop. The album will be available via iTunes on August 28th, for more information check the website: http://www.thaionedavis.com/ .

TOPE is back with a new beat tape and follow-up project to last year's FREELEMONADE, entitled NEWKICKS. Available as a free download through FRESHselects, NEWKICKS is 19 tracks long including samples from R.Kelly, Bell Biv Devoe, Cody ChesnuTT, PRTLND's own Reva Devito and more!
"For our 11th installment, returning champ, TOPE (of both TxE and Living Proof) follows up on last year’s highlight, FREELEMONADE with a fresh batch of NEWKICKS. Just as he did on FREELEM, the PRTLND producer again offers up another solid collection of for-sale instrumentals made out of mostly old soul records (& this time around – some contemporaries as well). Except, here on NEWKICKS, TOPE re-emerges a noticeably more seasoned producer, apparently learning a lot in just the year since, w/ sharpened chops & new techniques heard without - making for an even more enjoyable listen than the previous crowd favorite." - Kenny Fresh of FRESHselects

Beanie Sigel to join the Conversation before beginning Two-Year Prison Sentence Next Month
New York, NY - Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco will sit down with MTV News' Sway Calloway on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. ET on MTV.com during "RapFix Live" to debut his new music video for the controversial single "Bitch Bad." The music video will air simultaneously on MTV.com, MTV Jams, mtvU and MTV Hits. Immediately following the premiere, a few notable industry experts will be on-hand to discuss the clip and its overall effect on pop culture. Fans can join in on the conversation LIVE via Twitter using the hashtag #RapFixLive and the @MTVRapFix handle.
Joining Lupe on "RapFix Live" this week will be Philadelphia's finest, Beanie Sigel, who premiered four episodes of his "Man to Man" webisode series on "RapFix Live" over the past month. The series finds Sigel having heartfelt conversations with civil rights activist Dr. Ben Chavis, as the rapper gets ready to begin a two-year prison sentence in September for tax evasion. Beanie will release his latest album "This Time" on August 28, before beginning his two-year prison sentence.
"Whether right or wrong, some things need to be said in order to start a conversation… that's all I try to do with my music," said Lupe Fiasco.
"Bitch Bad" is the current single from Lupe's upcoming fourth album Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Part 1 out September 25, 2012, which addresses the overuse of the word "bitch" in hip-hop culture. "Bitch Bad" sparked controversy over the effect that negative stereotypes have on pop culture, and now the record looks to keep the conversation going with a visually jarring video directed by Gil Green.
During his last visit to the show last month, Lupe watched footage of himself and host Sway Calloway hanging out in his neighborhood on Chicago's West Side back in 2006. The video brought Lupe to tears, as he admitted that he was seeing "ghosts," referring to old friends who had died or were currently incarcerated. Fans showed an outpouring of support for Lupe on social media as they the moment watched live. He's since premiered the new single "Lamborghini Angels," which came with a disclaimer because of its controversial topics.

"Paid Dues", the lead single for Esohel & Ricky Dub's forthcoming project 'On Purpose With A Purpose', features Brooklyn's female spitter Nitty Scott, whom alongside Esohel trade bars schooling rappers on the notion that paying dues is not about money, but more about the grind and work ethic which both artist hold to be most valuable.
Inspiration for 'OPWAP' came from the chemistry built from Esohel's live shows that are assisted by his DJ, Ricky Dubs. After rocking shows together, the need to translate the live energy into a studio LP was inevitable. To solidify that, "On Purpose With A Purpose" was created. OPWAP brings a modern touch to the 90's inspired hip-hop from Ricky Dub's production accompanied by Esohel's delivery of bravado, feel good, and conscience lyrics. Features include Nitty Scott,MC , Scheme, Astonish, Add-2, Neak, Vic Spencer, and more!

A couple weeks ago, True Tiger took to Maida Vale on Mistajam's BBC Radio 1Xtra show to perform tracks from their new EP, Eye of the Tiger Volume 2. Whilst there, they were nice enough to film some of the live action for us.
