August 2011 (Oakland, CA) Bay Area recording label Live Up Records and its founders Zion I are proud to announce the return of Hella Fresh Fest on Friday, September 16th at the historic Fillmore Ballroom in San Francisco. After a short hiatus, Zion I are bringing back the festival with an array of local talent from Tha Jacka & the Husalah of Mob Figaz, Latin hip-hop group Los Rakas, Trackademicks & the Honor Roll crew, and KMEL's DJ Amen.

"Hella Fresh Fest is one night where we give the fans a showcase of the diversity of our region's hip-hop scene," notes Zumbi, emcee of Zion I and resident of Oakland for close to fifteen years. "This year fans will get a taste of boom bap, conscious rap, turf music, fresh coast, Plena/Reggaeton, Spanish hip-hop, new school hip-hop, and champagne soul music."

Zion I have been holding down Bay Area hip-hop for close to two decades now, including their 2010 album, Atomic Clock. In addition, the duo have six critically-acclaimed LPs under their belt: Mind over Matter (1998), Deep Water Slang (2000), and True & Livin (2003), The Take Over (2008) and they've released two albums Heroes in the City of Dope (2006) and Heroes in the Healing of the Nation (2011) with hip-hop artist and Living Legends member, The Grouch.

“Rockin’ shows at the Fillmore is dope because of the legacy of acts that have been on that stage before,” explains Raka Rich, one-half of the Spanish hip-hop duo Los Rakas.  “The fans are gonna get a dope show, and we get to show the whole Bay and the world how we get down on one stage.”
