We proudly present the debut EP on Uncommon Records of DCK VNNGT (Pronounced Dick Vonnegut). DCK VNNGT is what would happen if the DNA of the Dead Kennedys and Dr. Octagon were spliced together.
The Portland, Oregon-based duo, consisting of emcees/producers Bloodmoney and Yunsloth, lobs aural molotov cocktails at the world on the EP MRDR DTH KLL, their debut release. The EP is FREE and features their own original production along with a Remix by Nasa, that also includes a verse from ADAM (formerly Adam Warlock) and a beat from Ormo.
Rakin Niass is a conscious emcee who is no new comer to the UK Hip-Hop scene. Starting life out with the legendary UK Rap outfit Cash Crew, Rakin also went on to form the well-respected Mecca 2 Medina, the UK's first Islamic hip hop group in the UK. Paving the way for other great UK acts, Rakin dropped his debut solo mixtape 'The Road Less Travelled' in September 2010. The project was well received by media and Hip-Hop fans and featured collaborations with the likes of Tyson Amir (US), John Graham (US), Poetic Pilgrimage, Mohammed Yahya, Iron Braydz, Nomadic Poet just to name a few.
December 13th 2011 -- After releasing a trio of critically lauded solo outings; Good Girl Gone Bad in 1995, '97's gold selling Unlady Like and her most successful effort-to-date, Mama Drama, that following year, veteran New Orleans, Louisiana, rap-stress Mia X, nee' Young, quietly stepped away from the rap game. Now, over thirteen long years later, and the former No Limit Records' femcee has triumphantly returned, only this time around the self professed "Mama Mia" is, pardon the pun, cooking up quite a few different things...Check the menu!
After contributing a few of her very delicious recipes, many of which were adopted from her beloved granny, "Mamaw," to select national magazines, most notably Complex and Glam, Mia has since secured her very own food column with "The World's Most Dangerous Site," All Hip-Hop, which "officially" launch yesterday [12/12/2011], where she will continue to share her scrumptious meal ideas. In her debut entry, and just in time for the holiday season, Mia offers up one of her personal favorite dishes, Southern Dirty Rice. Yum!
In addition, the Unladylike Diva is currently prepping for the launch of her first cookbook/memoir, appropriately titled, Things My Grandma Told Me, Things My Grandma Showed Me, which will be released as a CD/DVD companion project, with its soundtrack serving as her long overdue musical comeback. The lead single is slated to be the title track of her debut literary work. Mia X is also in the midst of shopping around her own reality show vehicle, In The Kitchen With Mama Mia, which will cover all topics at hand; food, life, and, of course, music.
Things My Grandma Told Me, Things My Grandma Showed Me is scheduled to be unveiled in early 20-12! Stay tuned...
Boog Brown lays down her version of what a King is on the song My Love, describing in no uncertain terms why things are just right with her. Rich lyrical displays along with candid expression is what makes Boog so potent behind the mic Meanwhile, Georgia Anne Muldrow adds another level of glory to the track with some of the smoothest, unsampled west coast bump around. Georgia stomps her claim as the fonkiest, female Dr. Dre of beats, ready to line up toe to toe against any west coast producer. Combining Boog's heavy delivery and lyricsim to Georgia's ever relaxed puch on production is a recipe for success. "Breath of fresh air, never fair weather, push me to be better, the one y'all." Enjoy!
Months after Youtube banned the video for his "Can't Take Our Freedom" single, Libyan-American rapper Khaled M was headlining the 22-city Freedom Tour, performing in Egypt, Europe and the U.S., and sharing his perspective on the Libyan revolution with CNN and NBC as the world reeled from the fallout of the Arab Spring. Now, Khaled presents the Raphah Anderson-directed music video for "Lights Out", the new single produced by Killa Beatz. Next week Khaled lands for his first time in Libya where he will shoot a documentary before a performance in Dubai, which will kick off another string of worldwide dates. Khaled was named "Lyricist Of The Year" at the Chicago Urban Music Awards.
Hey there! We're back again with a second offering from the new Proe album "Be Brave, Gladiator" which will be released on Jan 1st, 2012. The song "City On Fire" features a sharply more melodic style than more dirty blues influenced "Box Cutter Johnny" which we sent last week. Both songs produced by Proe and both a good representation of the range of music on the album "Be Brave, Gladiator".
Proe has been making music and releasing albums for close to 10 years with a scattered yet impressive back catalog. His debut album, "Tags On The Wall" as well as his follow up "Perfect" scared up some acclaim when there were released and even landed him an interview on suicidegirls.com. On his most recent release, "Whatever You're On I'll Take 2", Proe goes into mixtape mode proving that he can hang with any and all of the punchline witty-rap wordplay rappers making any noise today.
Proe has always been an artist rooted in hip hop, but pushing his sounds as far as they can stretch from the original source. Some love it, and some dont' get it, but the general concensus is that no one else makes music quite like he does. The new album is no exception, and the two songs we've sent seem to exemplify that. There will be more leaks and releases as the album release date approaches. As always, we appreciate your interest and coverage. Thanks for your time.
