PR: "DMC: Walk This Way" - TV Documentary on DMC on July 10th

From Ballin' PR:

"DMC: Walk This Way" - TV Documentary on DMC on July 10th

July 2011, (Los Angeles, CA) World renown artist and author Justin BUA is proud to announce his directorial debut of "Walk this Way," the untold story of one of music's greatest legends Darryl 'DMC' McDaniels. As one of three founding members of the iconic group--RUN DMC--DMC brought rap to the mainstream of American culture, only to be left behind as hip-hop exploded and became one of the most significant cultural movements of our generation. Featuring Ice-T, Eminem, MC Lyte, Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip and many more, BUA paints a picture and chronicles DMC’s battle--and ultimate triumph--over his addiction to alcohol, the loss of his voice, and ultimately, the reclaiming of his life.

"DMC: Walk this Way" premieres Sunday July 10, 10 pm PT/ET on Ovation TV. To find Ovation in your area, go to www.ovationtv.com. For more information on "Walk this Way": http://www.justinbua.com/ .

MP3: Hawthorne Headhunters - "If You Were My Baby"

From Nora Ritchie:

MP3: Hawthorne Headhunters - "If You Were My Baby"

Black Spade and Coultrain have joined forced to become the official torch-bearers of Hawthorne Headhunters. The duo went in the studio last summer and Myriad of Now, the group's full-length debut was born, a 14-track collection of funk, electro and R&B that speaks on spirituality, sexuality and everything in between. Carrying on the lineage of Black music dating back to the blues and the inception of jazz, Hawthorne Headhunters melt influences together to break new ground. Myriad of Now will be released via the LA-based label Plug Research (Bilal, Quadron, Exile).

Explaining the meaning behind the album title, the group says, "it's many directions of this now. All we have is this right now, so you can go in many directions with this record, that's why we have so many different genres. It all depends on who you are."

Coultrain explains the significance behind the single's A-side "If You Were My Baby (Reprise)": "The subject matter touches on the chase of, surrender to, and polarization of love. Our message is that true love can be found through searching within, hence lines like ‘the people who can't make love make money.'" Still, even when describing their own sound, ‘Train never allows for the kind of perspective that allows Hawthorne Headhunters to marry so many styles and topics so effortlessly, "these descriptions are only a small portion of what this is about. The song's importance and our feelings towards them evolve as we do. The listener decides what the song is about, what it means. It is up to their own interpretation, our story is only one perspective of an infinite amount."

PR: Ray Sytes Puts It On For His Country Guyana

From Yo! PR:

Ray Sytes Puts It On For His Country Guyana

Introducing Hip-Hop fused with Dancehall artist Ray Sytes, a soon to be well known artist, whose blend of both genres is sure to lure you in. Having collaborated with hit producers who've worked with superstars like Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, Talib Kweli, and 50 Cent, as well as recording a song with multi-platinum recording artist T-Pain entitled "Everybody Else", Ray Sytes is determined to put Hip- Hop on the map for Guyana.

"Welcome To The Far South" is Sytes' official mixtape series, with the release of his first installment entitled "Tote My Flag." Sytes' mixtape includes a blend of Hip-Hop and Dancehall, featuring established artists featured on his project. Ray Sytes isn't just doing music for his fans, but for his country as well.

"We have many talented artists in R&B, Reggae, Dancehall, and Soca but not in Hip-Hop, so I’m filling that void," says Ray Sytes.

Originally from Georgetown, Guyana at a very early age, Sytes relocated to the States where he found a love for music other than Dancehall... Hip-Hop. Living in Flatbush, Brooklyn, Ray Sytes gained knowledge of rhyming and writing then moved to Queens where he now resides. With a large success rate of artists coming from the Tri-State Area like Biggie, Nas, and Jay-Z, Ray Sytes has an opportunity he won't let slip through.

"Tote My Flag," features a remix of the hit "Star Bwoy," with Jamaican musician Mavado, as well as features including Choppa Zoe, Clova, DJ Latan and many more. With 5 singles doing well on iTunes, you can anticipate Ray Sytes' upcoming mixtape "Welcome To Guyana", the second episode in his "Welcome To The Far South" series.

Proclaiming leadership of the "Far South Movement", Ray Sytes is reppin' for his country!

PR: Macsen Apollo - "Matters of the Heart" (EP)

From Wanja Large:

PR: Macsen Apollo - "Matters of the Heart" (EP)

Artist: Macsen Apollo
Location: Oakland, California
Genre: Hip Hop, Rap
EP: "Matters of the Heart"

Links: MacsenApollo.com  VeraClique.com

About the EP:

“Matters of the Heart” is about Life and Love, about Trust and Betrayal. It is about those kind of relationships we all have experienced at one point in life.

Starting with the Aagee (Compund 7) produced track “Around the world” Macsen Apollo takes you on a journey, an emotional one, so real that you can relate to each and every line: "We can go around the world girl, just for one night", a song about the admiration you can feel for a person when you first meet, whose company you want to enjoy for a short enough time to leave them with untarnished memories. Very different from "Like this", a love story, about a connection so strong that it can take you to the moon and back. Yet producer Daniel J kept the sounds light for this to be a joint you can vibe out to in the sunshine.

After the love story, just like in real life, come the "Problems" which is a song about heartache, the pain you feel when you loose a woman you love, about the mistakes that lead to this loss and how it makes you feel in the end. About realizing mistakes you made when it's too late, and how you don't know what you have until it's gone. And a lot of times problems lead to "Heartbreaks", which is Macsen Apollo's true story of betrayal and hurt. The lies a woman told which eventually had to come to light and led to a dramatic break-up. Arranged beautifully by Kev Choice and accompanied by cuts from DJ Quest.

The EP is closed by "City Girl", which is a tale of friendship and admiration, the fragile kind of love that feels like a crush, the one you want so bad but just can't be because of the circumstances you are in.

In the end Macsen Apollo proves to be a real Emcee, a real person who is not afraid to share his life, his feelings and his experiences with anyone who wants to listen. “All Rap, No Gimmicks”.
