MP3: Mike Beatz & Adonis f/ Wrekonize - "My World"
Mike Beatz and Adonis are proud to release the first song off their upcoming album Boom Bap. On "My World", Adonis brilliantly samples Charles Bradley's "The World (Is Going Up In Flames)", something not often seen since most hip hop samples tend to come from prior generations of music. Mike Beatz takes hold of the mic and brings you into his world fresh from touring for his feature on the UK platinum selling "Riverside" single as a member of Wizard Sleeves for Sidney Samson. They feature Wrekonzie from !Mayday! for this vivid record where both Mike Beatz and Wrekonize observe the changes over the past few years and know that no matter what, they must continue their grind in this gridlock industry life. Boom Bap will release later this year and features Guilty Simpson, Termanology, Royce Da 5' 9", AZ and more.
The track comes from the upcoming "Sucker Punch: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" out March 22nd - the audio companion to the film director Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) describes as "Alice In Wonderland with machine guns."
The wildly re-imagined versions of classic songs that make up "Sucker Punch: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" plays an integral role and the backbone of the film. "Sucker Punch is a film created with multiple levels of reality, so this same layered construct had to be considered and applied when approaching the music. The selection of songs we chose and the various ways in which they were each re-envisioned had to add depth, dimension and meaning to the sequences they exist within. Marius de Vries (Moulin Rouge!) and composer Tyler Bates (Watchmen, Californication) did an amazing job creating an intricate musical landscape to accompany the surreal imagery of the film" says Snyder.
Check out the brand new single "Jackie Chan" from up and coming artist Genasis out of Los Angeles CA by way of Decatur GA. Already heating up at West Coast powerhouse KMEL and buzzing in the streets of LA. This is the perfect amount of energy for any mixshow/club DJ!
Waka Flocka Flame at B.B. King Blues Club on March 23rd
Waka Flocka Flame didn't want to be a rapper when he grew up. He didn't want to write hit songs, perform in front of thousands of people at packed clubs or hear his songs played on radio stations across the country. But more than a year after bursting onto the scene with his debut single, "O Let's Do It," the Atlanta rapper has managed to make more of an impact on the music industry than most rappers who have spent their entire lives trying to do it. And thanks to an influential cosign from fellow ATLien Gucci Mane, and a string of chart-topping singles, including the remix to "O Let's Do It," featuring Rick Ross and Diddy, "Hard In Da Paint," featuring Gucci Mane and the newest “No Hands,” it doesn't look like Waka Flocka is ready to quit rapping anytime soon.
