Devo Spice Update - 5/10/2011

From Devo Spice:

Devo Spice Update - 5/10/2011

What’s up, everyone?

I’m finishing up a big project for The FuMP.  Watch for an announcement about that, and then possibly for another announcement about me being committed to a mental institution.  But I mainly just wanted to bring your attention to The FuMP because the most recent song there is mine!  My song “The Dumbest Song On Rock Band” from my new album Gnome Sane? is now available as a free download from The FuMP.  I even set up a nifty shortened URL for you to pass around to your 3,782 closest friends (no more, no less!):

http://thefu.mp/dumbestsong

Several people have asked and yes, I’m planning to post this song on the Rock Band Network so you can download it and play it.  It’s going to be a little while before this happens because it’s not exactly a fast process, but I have gotten things started.  The only caveat is Harmonix won’t allow a song with the phrase “Rock Band” in the title so when it goes up it will simply be called “The Dumbest Song.”

And as a friendly reminder (BUY MY CD) my new album Gnome Sane? is (BUY MY CD) available on CD from http://www.thefump.com (BUY MY CD) or from http://www.devospice.com (BUY MY CD) or if you prefer virtual things to physical things (BUY MY CD) you can get the album digitally from iTunes, Amazon, Bob’s Discount Download Hut, (BUY MY CD) and other fine retail establishments.

From Audible Treats:

Video: Drums & Ammo - "U Funnystyle" Feat. Bambu (Prod. by 6Fingers)

Drums & Ammo are back with another hard-hitting track, this time teaming up once more with Los Angeles emcee Bambu for "U Funnystyle." The song, produced by 6Fingers, is the third single off the group's debut instrumental album, Vol. 1, and was created to sound like "the music you would hear in a old cartoon, with the shadow of a big ass dude lurking around looking to stomp on suckas," says 6Fingers. "I had no idea what Bam was going to come with because the beat is a little out-there, but as usual he ripped it." Drums & Ammo's REL directed the video, a psychedelic, fish-eyed visual that captures 6Fingers beat-making in the studio and Bambu rhyming around the Bay.

At the end of the month, Drums & Ammo will be dropping an EP that will serve as a supplement to Vol. 1 and will include the songs that have been featured as a part of the instrumental album's music video series. In addition to "U Funnystyle," songs on the EP will include "Blame Game" featuring DaVinci and produced by Al Jieh, "We Mobb In That..." featuring Bambu and produced by REL, "Speak Up" featuring and produced by Ammbush, and more.

PR: Chilly Gonzales Announces World First Orchestral Rap Album

From Girlie Action:

Chilly Gonzales Announces World First Orchestral Rap Album

Download “The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales”
Medley MP3
HERE!

Chilly Gonzales, never one to stay quiet for too long, is back with the announcement of his new album, The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales, the world’s first all-orchestral rap album, the dramatic next step after piano-rap classics like “The Grudge” and “Crying” from his last album, Ivory Tower. The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales will see a digital release on June 7th via Canadian tastemaker label Arts & Crafts. Gonz is giving the world a sneak preview of the ambitious album, in the form of an orchestral-rap medley, which you can download above.

Today, he brings some “Gonzpiration” to the rap game. Accompanied by Hollywood swells, tympani rolls, noble French horns, hypnotizing bells and influenced by Prokofiev, Morricone and Phillip Glass, this record is Chilly Gonzales’ professional confessional, revealing more of himself on these monologues than ever before. The arrangements found on The Unspeakable Chilly Gonzales were done by his Hollywood-film composing brother Christophe Beck, and take center stage alongside Gonzo’s eccentric personality.

After his Guinness World Record and the Locarno film festival prize-winning feature film (and accompany album) Ivory Tower, the single “Never Stop” was chosen by Apple for their iPad ad. Ivory Tower’s inter-planetary video hit “You Can Dance” helped bring the musical genius to the forefront of American culture.
