Roach Gigz Announces New EP Bitch I'm A Player, Drops First Single
In case you thought Roach Gigz was going to take a break, you're dead wrong. This San Francisco representing, Bay Area die-heart is just starting to pick up steam in 2011. You probably heard his second mixtape Roachy Balboa 2, and you might have caught his MTV2 Sucker Free interview just last month, but he's been staying busier than ever and with two recent sold out shows alongside Too $hort and his upcoming New York City debut this Sunday, April 24th and Highline Ballroom, Roach is excited to announce the release of a brand new project, the Bitch I'm A Player EP dropping this May. This EP's entire production was handled by C-Loz, a frequent collaborator responsible for producing the fan favorite "Can I Rap" in addition to countless other Roach songs, and sports such features as Lil' B, Husalah, DB The General, and long time comrade Lil' 4-Tay, daughter of Bay legend Rappin' 4-Tay and also one-half of the duo B.I.G. which she and Roach formed back in high school.
The first single off this EP is the aptly named, "F A Chorus" and, spoiler alert, there's no chorus; once Roach gets his charismatic, bouncing flow worked up it doesn't stop until the beat goes silent. And, as with other chorus-free past favorites such as "Can I Rap" and "Respect It," the mission is clear for Roach: Try as you might, you're just not as good as he is, and you probably never will be. Or as Roach puts it, "I'm just making it clear to the male and female bitches around the world that I'm a player."
All fans in the Tri-State area should be sure to swing by Highline Ballroom this Sunday, April 24th for Roach Gigz' debut NYC performance, taking the stage alongside Kreayshawn, Andre Nickatina, Roxy Cottontail, and more. For more info and to buy tickets, please visit the Highline Ballroom website.
2011's comeback kid, Yung Berg, scores another couple wins this month, along with fellow producer Ayo; their tribute to Chicago Bulls Point Guard, Derrick Rose, is a slam dunk and the video for Lil Wayne's "John (If I Die Today) ft. Rick Ross", which the two produced, went out for public consumption this past Tuesday (47,440 views on YouTube.) The single will appear on Wayne's upcoming album, "Tha Carter IV" which drops May 23rd. "Derrick Rose ft. Marvo" will be featured on Berg's upcoming mixtape, "More Money, More Condoms."
What most have seen as Berg's hiatus from the music scene has actually been time spent locked in the studio completing his recently released, self-produced "Mr Ward" mixtape and a frenzy of work behind the boards with Ayo for artists like Drake ("Do It All"), Diddy/Dirty Money ("Make Love To You"), Soulja Boy ("Kush on Deck", Na Na Baby") and Roscoe Dash. Fans can also expect production from the duo on projects from Ray J, Diamond, Dawn and Young Cash in addition to many more Yung Berg songs to come.
Early March saw Yung Berg take a brief break from all of the recording and video shooting for a quick media blitz in support of the release of "Mr Ward" but word has it that he has once again sequestered himself behind those boards to work on upcoming projects. Stay tuned.
