Portland, OR: February 2012. Here is a brand new, free single and some accompanying visuals. "Word Processor" is the first leak from my upcoming "LameStream" album, which I plan on releasing this spring (official release date TBA soon). Produced by Smoke M2D6 (Oldominion). Thanks for caring, sharing, and blaring.
On March 13th, 4th Pyramid will release his latest album, The Pyramid Scheme. The LP will be released through the Toronto rapper/producer's newly founded label, Silk Ivory, in conjunction with Lyrics To Go and Universal Music, and while Pyramid's video for lead single "Webslinger" is still making rounds, he's excited to release a brand new video and non-album track for fans.
First up is "Let The Drummer Play," a self-produced track that gives listeners a more personal look into Pyramid's life. "'Let The Drummer Play' is a peak-behind-the-curtain type song, where I talk about where my head is at when I'm making records living in a fast pace environment," explains Pyramid. "It's an extension of the album, and a song for people to really get to know me." Pyramid drives that point home lyrically, as he raps, "Too dizzy in the crib from stuffing weed in cigars / Too busy in the city skipped my meeting with God."
Joining the song is a video for "It's So Hot," a track that will be included on The Pyramid Scheme. The song features Greg Nice and Cosmo Baker – together, Pyramid and Baker make up the duo Sheen Bros. – and is built around an up-tempo instrumental loop that sits perfectly underneath Pyramid's rhymes and Greg Nice's hyping. The video, directed by The ICU, is an equally fun affair, following Pyramid and Baker as they cruise the city in a throwback yellow cab, before hitting a club to catch up with Greg Nice, who, along with the rest of the crowd, is already in full-on party mode.

First-ever family authorized documentary on the life of Bob Marley – VH1 to partner on TV and promotion through VH1 Rock Doc franchise
New York – February 2012 – The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures announced today they have acquired US rights to MARLEY, the definitive documentary about legendary musician Bob Marley, directed by Academy Award-winner Kevin Macdonald (One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland). Produced by Steve Bing (Shangri-La Entertainment) and Charles Steel, and executive produced by Bob’s son Ziggy Marley and Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, MARLEY will have its world premiere at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February, and its North American premiere at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX in March.
The film will open in theaters on Friday, April 20th, launching day and date with all VOD and digital platforms.
VH1 has come onboard to license the first TV Window of the film as part of their Emmy-Award winning VH1 Rock Doc franchise and will work with Magnolia and the filmmakers to promote the film across their music lover channel.
Made with the unprecedented support of the Marley family, MARLEY is the first film to tell the definitive life story of the musician, revolutionary, and legend, from his earliest days to his rise to international superstardom. Along with an incredible soundtrack, the film features rare footage, archival photos, and incredible performances and interviews with his family, friends, and bandmates – the people that knew him best. The film is sure to be a revelation to Bob Marley fans, of which there are many (the triple-platinum artist has nearly 35 million fans on his Facebook page alone), and newcomers alike.
“Bob Marley is a fascinating, towering figure in musical history, and MARLEY is the biography that he deserves,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Kevin Macdonald has once again shown himself to be a master documentarian with this eye-opening, entertaining, beautifully crafted film.”
“This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father’s life,” said Executive Producer Ziggy Marley. “The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey."
The deal was negotiated for Magnolia by SVP of Acquisitions Dori Begley and Head of Business Affairs Chris Matson and for VH1 by Ben Zurier and Brad Abramson with Liesl Copland of WME Global on behalf of the filmmakers.
Free EP: Fatal Lucciauno & Jake One - The Message EP
Courtesy Audible Treats.
Fatal Lucciauno's sophomore album, Respect, will be released February 21st, but first, the Seattle emcee is excited to release his collaborative EP with distinguished producer and fellow Seattleite Jake One. Fatal and Jake are offering the EP, titled The Message, to fans free of charge through Fatal's Bandcamp.
For Fatal, The Message EP serves as his most personal work to date, showcasing a collection of stories that show listeners a deeper side of Fatal. "I poured my soul onto the songs," explains Fatal. "The have-nots, the hustlers - we have real stories that transcend pain and beauty, and this music is a bridge to the new me." In keeping with the personal nature of the EP, Fatal chose to keep features to a minimum. "If the person I had on the song wasn't emotionally capable of reaching into their soul," notes Fatal, "they aren't on the EP."
Jake One handles production for the EP, and the chemistry that the two developed while working on "Amazing (the lead single from Respect), is on full display throughout. "Working with Jake is the best; he don't require shit, just that I be creative and honest in my music," explains Fatal. "The Message couldn't be illustrated without Jake One's help." And that message, says Fatal, is, "We are here - and we ain't going nowhere." But there's more to the message than that, remarks Fatal, "and if you listen, you'll hear it."
Fatal Lucciauno's sophomore album, Respect, will be released on February 21st via Sportn' Life Records.
Spree Wilson has returned with his latest leak, "Sharpshooter" from his much anticipated project The Spark. Sharpshooter equally shows Spree's diverse creativity as well as the skillful incorporation of his influences.
Random: 4 Ways to Help The Vs Tour Become a Success
Courtesy Random a/k/a Mega Ran.
Since I've quit teaching to do this music thing, you guys have come through in ways I couldn't have imagined with your support. Whether telling someone, or buying merch, or coming to shows, I haven't felt this kind of genuine love ever in my career, and I'm so appreciative.
At the same time that all this was going on, some things were just totally lucky flukes; like me getting picked to tour with mc chris last Fall. That was an amazing experience and we want to try to build on that momentum as best we can, so enter THE VS TOUR.
The VS Tour is like no other tour that i've been on, in that it's been COMPLETELY booked by myself and Willie's team-- no agents, no publicists. We're playing some pretty big spots, and we need this to go well. We did all the groundwork and got it done. I'm super excited to get out on the road but we need your help to make sure we knock it out the park!
I'll be playing with some names you know, and some you don't: Willie Evans Jr, of Jacksonville, is an amazing producer and MC, and does some amazing things with video that you have to see to believe. Also DJ DN3, who's been producing my stuff since 2006, finally gets to get out on the road and see the life we brag about...sometimes.
Along the way, some old favorites like Adam Warrock, The OneUps and more will pop up.
BUT, with this being a self-funded and booked tour, we know that costs come up. We need to rent a vehicle, pay for hotels, gas, tolls, snacks, and emergencies that tend to come up on the road.
The best way you can help is to buy a ticket at http://megaran.com/shows and get some merch too, but even if it's just telling 5 friends about the music and what we're trying to do, that will help immensely.
There are so many ways to help: here are 4.
* our INDIEGOGO campaign, which will get you shirts, hats, cds, dvds and more (BEST VALUE!) http://www.indiegogo.com/The-VS-Project?a=401677 . * Buying a ticket to any of the shows - which gets you a 40% coupon off purchases and a FREE new Tour EP I'm working on now. go here and do that. http://megaran.com/shows/ . * just drop a donation in the Mega Ran Music Fund - goo.gl/kUNkt. * Buy stuff!! :-)
Today, Bay Area rhythm section The Park (backing band for BIG K.R.I.T., Freddie Gibbs, Alice Russell, Jesse Boykins III and more), unveil the first video for their new three song release "These Are The Days."
Set over a grinding synth-based groove and featuring vocoder and a cinematic guitar jam, the track is a funk-drenched take on life in the U.S. right now. The video echoes the song with a kaleidoscope of visuals featuring working people, classic lyrical themes such as "Let It Be" and "Things Fall Apart", California sunsets, and the theme of cherishing right now because "these are the days."
