Do they still make those giant Tips and Tricks books? Pretty helpful, if you ask me.
Anyway, I have some tips for you, but first, new music from myself and my crew.
1) "Language Arts."I used to rap this song to his students on the first day, as a former middle school educator. The track is produced by Richie Branson, who this week exploded with his #BringBackToonami campaign, even landing play on 2 Adult Swim bumpers. Props!
2) "Armed." The Writers Guild (Mr. Miranda, MC Pennywise, RoQy TyRaiD, Random, aka Mega Ran) is back, this time tapping the hottest producer in AZ, Kanye West's latest signee to G.O.O.D. Music, Lifted, who shows his versatility as the Guild sets it on wack MCs on "Armed," their new single.
The tips. I decided to do my own tips and tricks for the crowd funding resource known as kickstarter. My good friend Kevin at the so much silence blog posted my 5 tips on How To Win At Kickstarter. Peep!
Next week, on May 22nd, Hieroglyphics rapper Casual will release his latest album, He Still Think He Raw. The album, which will be released through Hiero Imperium, is produced entirely by DJ Fresh & The Whole Shabang, and today, following a string of previous video and single leaks, Casual is excited to release a brand new track from the album, "Sushi" featuring Mr. Town.
"This song was inspired by the production," says Casual, pointing out the beat's loose, heavy drums and slickly chopped sample. "DJ Fresh's beat did it all." Atop that beat, Casual, with the help of Mr. Town, unwinds a series of stroies, each one a sly, salacious tale. "I sip wine, with this chick of mine/ When I see a little fine mama, with a behind on her," raps Casual. "See, mama didn't know that I was sushi/ 'Till she seen other baby trying to seduce me/ No she's choosing/ And I'm her top pick/ That's what she get/ For thinking she was hot shit."
After laying down a strong and sturdy foundation of high-profile mixtapes and a string of regional hit singles, Team Fetti, Inc. artist Tom.G AKA Tommy Gunz further builds upon his rapidly growing fan base with new single and video "Kill It" featuring fellow Tampa-based rapper Tae Bae Bae.
MUSIC: Random - Language Arts (prod. Richie Branson)
Random aka Mega Ran is ready to drop his new album/comic/game experience "Language Arts Volume 1" next week, so here is his 2nd leak from the project, the upbeat title track "Language Arts." Ran says he used to rap this song to his students on the first day, as a former middle school educator. The track is produced by Richie Branson, who this week exploded with his #BringBackToonami campaign, even landing play on 2 Adult Swim bumpers.
Following two successful collaborative efforts alongside fellow producer/rapper The Alchemist as the power duo Gangrene -2010’s Gutter Water and 2012’s Vodka & Ayahuasca- and the 2011 gem with The Alchemist as Gangrene & Roc Marciano, the Greneberg EP; The Oxnard, California based beat-smith and emcee Oh No returns for a solo mission.
OHNOMITE WILL BE RELEASED ON 6-5-2012
Oh No (born Michael Jackson; younger brother of Madlib and son of singer Otis Jackson) was granted unprecedented access to the Rudy Ray Moore / Dolemite audio archives and given free rein to slice, dice, chop and sample his way through the classic-yet-absolutely-filthy catalog. He was able to use legendary material from The Human Tornado, Petey Wheatstraw, the Dolemite Soundtrack and more, plus a multitude of previously unreleased and alternate acapellas and instrumentals. The end result is Ohnomite, a 19 track head-banging extravaganza of sloppy funk, dirty soul, and brainy lyricism, all aimed at one thing- making your head nod and your ass shake. And when you add to that guests spots from the likes of MF Doom, Evidence, Phife Dawg, The Alchemist, Erick Sermon, Rapper Pooh, MED, Guilty Simpson, Roc Marciano, Sticky Fingaz, Chino XL, Roc C, Prozack Turner, Termanology, Frank Nitt and more, and you are left with a one of a kind album from a one of a kind musician. Ohnomite- 19 songs of pure whoop ass from Oh No and Dolemite!
