PRESS RELEASE: Stretch Money Joins Forces With Veteran Producer Nick Speed For The April 24th Release of '25 Miles Per Hour'
Burgeoning Detroit-based emcee Stretch Money gears up for the April 24th release of his sophomore album 25 Miles Per Hour, through Hot Lava Records. Stretch, an artist defined by overcoming the odds of emerging from the trials and tribulations of the Motor City’s street life, expresses a myriad of themes and issues found throughout this LP. The production featured on 25MPH is composed entirely by G-Unit affiliate beatsmith Nick Speed, who has crafted songs for the likes of 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Talib Kweli, M.O.P. and Danny Brown, among others. The collaborative efforts of Stretch and Speed on 25MPH showcase the successful fusion of emcee and producer, which is made evident from the album’s introduction all the way through the outro.
In recent years, there resurgence of the one emcee, one producer album has permeated back into the fabric of the genre, remindful of celebrated combinations such as Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Scott La Rock & KRS-One, Dr. Dre and Eminem, Gangstarr (DJ Premier and Guru), Atmosphere (Slug and Ant) and Lord Finesse and DJ Mike Smooth, for example. 25 Miles Per Hour is representational of these successful combinations and is the first of a series of projects to be released by these two Detroit natives, with a follow-up 45 Miles Per Hour already in production.
In release of 25 Miles Per Hour, Stretch issues the following statement on the significance of this release: "25MPH means a lot to me. I'm cool and laid back and by teaming up with Speed, we average out to 25 Miles Per Hour (laughs), so this album is symbolic of that emcee/producer chemistry. This project is especially sentimental because it's my chance at creating something on the level of the artists that I've always looked up to."
Weighing in at twelve tracks with limited guest features, the creative narration of Stretch Money's lyrical abilities displayed on 25 Miles Per Hour transcends effortlessly to his audience. "Smile,' the album's flagship song serves as a powerful reminder to keep your head high and smile despite life's hardships. "It's a green light, you got to go just do your thing, If you woke up this morning, then there is no need to complain, baby try to live stress free, forget the strain, listen close to what I'm saying to you, cause this is game..."
On "They Aint Listenin'," Stretch details the dichotomy in what today's rap audience seems to prefer from their artists, verses both the artistry that he portrays and the message that he delivers. "And I'm sick of this fake shit, the ni@@as who can't spit, be gettin' recognition, they treat me like I ain't shit...I guess if I had a chain and put shoes on the Range, I'd look up and hear my music bang, but nah, they ain't listenin." On the infectious street banger "What's Hapnin," Stretch breaks down where he stands lyrically amongst his competition: "It's just how I'm feeling at the time, and these ni@@as need to put some feeling in their rhymes, instead of all that rappin' and tappin', I guess that's what's hapnin..."
Speed, whose production work started in the late 90's as a founding member of Detroit's 9-2-5 Colony describes his experience with working with Stretch as "exciting." "I was able to witness an artist document his own life and create a musical time capsule through his words. Stretch brings a fresh new approach to the game and he has the support of people everywhere!" As for pairing up with Speed, Stretch states: "Working with Nick seems like we've been friends for years. The creative process has been interesting cause on the one hand it's a very natural and smooth process to rhyme on his tracks, but on the other hand, I'm on my toes to make sure that I'm bringing my A game."
With this release, Stretch continues to prove why he is one of the most promising artists to emerge from Detroit's flourishing Hip-Hop scene in recent years. Both a previously featured ‘Next To Blow' (Hip Hop Weekly) and ‘Show & Prove' featured emcee (XXL Magazine), Stretch is eager to both feed his fan base and build upon his brand.

Producer/dj Quickie Mart and Ben Ellman of funk/jazz band Galactic are Gypsyphonic Disko, presenting a free download of "Booty Poppin'", a song from their new free full-length NolaPhonic Volume 2, the New Orleans natives' second foray into their unique fusion of bounce and Balkan music. "Booty Poppin'" features bounce star Katey Red, widely regarded as the first homosexual rapper and pioneer of "sissy rap". Quickie Mart produced three volumes of the Haze Diaries mixtape series with East Coast emcee Gotham Green, and recently released Space Monkey Radio EP, five artist-approved dubstep remixes of tracks from Freddie Gibbs, Ricky B,Slightly Stoopid and more. Galactic's most recent studio album is Ya-Ka-May featuring Irma Thomas, Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty and more. A 22 year old rapper from Chepstow, Wales, who describes himself as "pretentious white boy who who's main influence is getting rejected by women."
A one-time stand-up comic and a full-time writer of rhymes filled with quick-witted metaphors, similes and hokery-pokery, echoing the sentiments and tomfoolery of a generation under the influence of modern life, Elro gained notoriety when his F64 for SBTV quickly became one of the highest viewed videos in the channel's history.
Whilst Elro was clocking up 1.5 million views and perfecting his rhymes in his Mum's backroom, down the M4 a small but noisy label called The Beats was stirring from a slumber.
Having witnessed that very SBTV performance, Mike Skinner felt finally there was a rapper in Elro who could live up to the standards of The Beats. As part of their new project The D.O.T. Mike was in the studio with Rob Harvey and after reaching out to Elro, a studio session was swiftly booked in. It soon became clear that "Bad News" produced by Mike, was a track finally worthy of The Beats seal of approval, and the label was re-born.
Iconic, shambolic and ahead of it's time The Beats was the record label founded by Mike Skinner and Ted Mayhem in 2004 that kick-started a revolution in the UK rap scene. Building on the success of Mike Skinner's own musical persona The Streets, The Beats record label gave birth to some major recording artists such as Example and Professor Green.
With the release of Greenball 3.5 on Fieldwerk Recordings, Jel has further established himself as one of the most solid producers of our time. Each song— crafted on a SP1200 and meticulously laced with live MPC drums, leading to an unmistakably distinct feel—features an industrially grimy sound yet the craftsmanship hints at a profoundly nimble dexterity on the pads.
Much like the other Greenball albums 3.5 slices through the muck and mire like a brooding symphony, but what separates this project from the others is the intensity in which the message is delivered. Songs like "Montro", "Shock Lock" and "Ignition Key" snap hard with crunchy boom-baps, and one would be hard-pressed to call them anything less than classic Jel. "Eclip", "Bloop Bit" and "94's" provide a nice melodic counterbalance to the hard edge, but even those smack with a certain sort of understated venom. Greenball 3.5 sits 13 tracks deep with each song moving hard and fast, which makes putting it on repeat a must.
*Included with the album is a digital download card as well as a slick 11×17 Jel SP1200 poster.

MP3: YG Hootie & A-Wax Ft. Gucci Mane - "Make Room"
Courtesy Audible Treats.
On May 29th, Los Angeles native and Brick Squad Monopoly rapper YG Hootie is teaming up with Bay Area rapper A-Wax, and together, the pair will release their collaborative album, Interstate Trafficking, via BSM/Illburn Records. Already, the rappers have released a video for album cut "LA To The Bay," and now, with a number of videos still forthcoming, YG & A-Wax are excited to release the album's official lead single, "Make Room," featuring Brick Squad head honcho Gucci Mane.
Gucci kicks things off, as he raps in his patented drawl, "I'm in the kitchen, whipping up, I'm leading all you ni**as/ I gotta say my grace, because I'm eating on you ni**as." A-Wax takes the second verse, with lines like, "My guns allergic to you ni**as/ Don't make it go achoo," while YG bats clean-up, rapping, "All your goons counterfeit; all my goons with the shit/ Pull up in that what-the-fuck, you can't make no sense of it." And with all the tough talk, the chorus, a repeating refrain of the three rapping "Make room for the goons" comes off as fitting as ever.
Before unleashing their new single online, YG & A-Wax also recently stopped by Shade45's Rude Jude radio show to debut the track, discuss the new album, and much more. Fans can watch that footage here, shot by Waka Flocka's in-house video team Blind Folk Films, and download the single below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dSiTzem6AQ .
