Press Release: Just P - "Just Call Me P" @JustPUK

From Black Budget Entertainment:

Press Release: Just P - "Just Call Me P"

On Monday 30th April 2012, underground Hip Hop emcee & founder of Black Budget Entertainment, Just P (formerly known as BiGPSG), of NW London, England, will be officially releasing his first full length album: Just Call Me P, exclusively through for free.

The album, Just Call Me P, is the follow-up to the successful Whats A Prestyle EP (released by Just P, under the name BiG PSG, on 21st July 2011) and comprises of 21 completely original tracks with production from underground beat makers: Tritone, Politiks, Pro P, Gadget MJM, Dirty Stanz, Dead Man Walkn, Tricksta & Baron-Samedi.

In the build up to releasing Just Call Me P, Just P has: featured on the UKʼs number one urban broadcaster, SB.TV, in their famed Warm Up Sessions YouTube series; released numerous well received music videos via his own YouTube channel; gained radio play on independent radio stations; and performed at numerous Hip Hop events around the local NW London area.

With this release Just P intends to set himself apart from other emceeʼs currently on the UK Hip hop scene; demonstrate his abilities as a unique emcee; and further establish himself as an independent artist - while proving he can retain a listeners attention without the help of feature appearances.

As the title suggests, Just Call Me P is aimed to be the first official mark on the UK music scene made by the completely independent London native, and with Just P in control of everything from writing the lyrics to mastering the tracks, its safe to say that this is a true reflection of him as an artist.

Adam's World Weekly 4/30 - I'm An Interviewing Machine!

From Adam Bernard:

Adam's World Weekly 4/30 - I'm An Interviewing Machine!

Welcome to the new week everyone. I had a nice busy week of setting up six interviews, and prepping for five of them well in advance. Thankfully, unlike the previous week, I was actually able to score some much needed sleep, as well. There's no sleeping on all the great features I have for you in this week's update, though. I have three interviews for you this week - my Q&A w/ Greek/Australian pop singer Vassy, my very fun session w/ New Jersey hip-hop artist Justina, and an old clip I just noticed had been placed online, my sit down w/ Jesse Barnett of Stick To Your Guns. In addition to those features I have an in-depth review of Lights' recent Danbury, CT, show that takes a look at her evolution as an artist, a brand new Pop Shots, and a great Vid Pick from Kidd Russell.

If you dig any of these features please feel free to share this with a friend. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, and enjoy!
Vassy - She Wants To Make You Smile.

Vassy is quite the musical mixture, but that makes sense for a woman of Greek descent who was born and raised in Australia and now lives in Los Angeles. Pretty much everything about her has a litany of influences. Her debut album, Beautiful Day, has a vibe that’s one part Colbie Caillat, one part M.I.A., and with musical placements in shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Human Target (RIP!), as well as a new Victoria’s Secret campaign, that vibe is being spread far and wide.

With Beautiful Day due out tomorrow I caught up with Vassy to find out more about her music, the complications of recording while being deaf in one ear, and where all the happiness that’s so evident in her album comes from.

Review - Lights in Danbury, CT

The most welcome problem an artist can face is adjusting to success. When it hits, a fan base grows, but figuring out how to alter the previous relationship one had with their fans, make it work for the larger fan base, and keep all the original fans happy, is a challenge. It’s a challenge Lights is proving, on her current tour, she’s up to the task of handling.

Justina - New Jersey Hip-Hop's Latest Femme Fatale

If you’re a TV addict, chances are you’ve already heard the music of Justina, you just didn’t know it was her. Justina’s work has been featured on a plethora of shows, including VH1’s Mob Wives, MTV’s True Life, and NBC’s Smash. The New Jersey native has higher aspirations than simply being in the background, though, which is why this spring she’s releasing her first official mixtape, titled Route 80, and will be on select dates of this year’s Warped Tour.

Currently sporting a co-sign from Cam’ron, and having just dropped a video for her single “Bubblegum,” Justina is well on her way from going from the background to the limelight, which is why this week RapReviews caught up with the rapper/singer to find out more about her music, the emergence of white female rappers, and how she plans on handling potential critics. Justina also revealed a little bit about an oral fixation she just can’t get over.

Pop Shots - We're Skewing Old This Week

Welcome to your weekly dose of pop world musings. Covering all things pop culture, this week Pop Shots is hitting you with thoughts on everything from the passing of Dick Clark, to a virtual Grateful Dead experience, to Paul McCartney’s major faux paw. Don’t worry, there’s still some non-AARP related news in here, too, with shots on Kim Kardashian and the Billboard Music Awards, and since it’s Pop Shots you know everything is seasoned with a little bit of attitude.

Stick To Your Guns Stick to The Road

I just noticed my very fun interview with Stick To Your Guns' lead singer Jesse Barnett was posted a month ago on Substream's site. Apologies for the lateness in getting it to you! Enjoy!

It’s a mild winter day in Orange County, California, but Stick To Your Guns lead singer Jesse Barnett is huddled in the studio, hard at work on the band’s next album and preparing for the Substream/HK Army Tour. Well, the latter is only in theory. As you’ll see, Barnett knew he was going on tour, but it wasn’t until this interview that he knew which tour he’d be on.

Barnett and his bandmates, guitarist Chris Rawson, guitarist Ron Friesen, bassist Andrew Rose, and drummer George “Schmitty” Schmitz, spend the majority of their time touring, which is why when I caught up with Barnett I asked him about his tour essentials and some of the most inspiring moments he’s experienced while on the road. Barnett also revealed why he gets the occasional dirty look while exiting international flights.

In an internet exclusive, Barnett also discusses his extensive charity work, his thoughts on the public school system, and the band’s frequent lineup changes.
