Random: Download My New Mixtape NOW!

Random, aka Mega Ran is ready to claim the title of hardest working man in hip-hop after releasing his new mixtape "TeacherRapperHero Vol 2: The 2 Week Notice" today.

Ran was known as everyone's favorite teacher-slash-rapper, but he quit the teaching profession this month, citing a need to "spread his wings."

Career suicide? Maybe. But Ran is determined to go down swinging.

Fresh off the runaway success, "Black Materia," which was based on the hit video game Final Fantasy VII, Ran returns to his roots as a conscious emcee on this one, speaking on the flaws of the education and justice systems, but maintains the fun and the video game references that have made him successful.

Guests include Philly legends Reef the Lost Cauze and Icon the Mic King, the AZ supergroup Writer's Guild (Roknowledge, RoQy TyRaiD, Mr. Miranda and Pennywise--rapping over Metroid nonetheless),int80 of Dual Core, and even award winning composer Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica and more) and is mixed by DN3, who also produces and rhymes on the project.

From Park Street PR:

Deeze - Gimme... (Music Video)

Deeze a.k.a Big Dutty Deeze is rapidly making a name for himself in the world of Hip-Hop. The story began on October 1st 2010 when he debuted with his mixtape 'The Pre-Turn' with the infamous UK mixtape giants UK Runnings. He then launched his own label Deeze Music as a launch pad for his own music and released two well received street albums; 'The Re-Turn' in November 2010 and 'The Re-Birth' on New Years Day 2011. This trio of releases now called 'The Re-Series' solidified Deeze in the UK rap scene as well as getting love from fans in the USA, Australia and Europe.

The buzz off these free download releases led to Deeze being asked to release an EP on one of the UK's longest running independent Hip-Hop labels Wolftown Recordings. The 'Late Nights, Early Mornings EP' was a collection of five tracks produced by Tricksta. This digitally released EP received positive feedback from music media and the promotional music video to the track 'Big Tingz' had over 12,000 views on You Tube, as well as featuring on over seventy-five different on-line magazine and blog websites including RWD, Rago Magazine, Stand Up UK, Urban Vault and more.

Since then Deeze has been busy collaborating on various projects including a feature on Tricksta's single 'Out Of Darkness' as well as featuring on three other tracks for Tricksta's forthcoming album 'Out Of Darkness Cometh Light' as well as recording a solo track and featuring on a track with Jadakiss and Konny Kon for Stealf's forthcoming album 'I Am Stealf'. Deeze has also been working with producer Juttla and will feature on a forthcoming release for Eastern Pressure Records. There is no doubting that Deeze is making waves and with a hard work ethic surely there is no stopping this talented emcee, and with rumours of a Stateside album release circlulating things really are hotting up for Deeze!

Now we get Deeze's brand new mixtape, his fifth release and second release with Tricksta's UK Runnings 'They Call Me Big Dutty'. With artwork resembling the computer game 'The Call Of Duty - Black Ops', this new mixtape is a selection of twelve banging tracks that any discerning Hip-Hop fan will adore. No Autotune, No corny lyrics, just straight up real bars delivered with passion and fire. This mixtape is the perfect release to keep us going until we get the Batman inspired EP release 'This Is Gotham' from Deeze Music. The futures bright, the futures Deeze.

Here is another side to Miami Beat Wave's production style that has rarely been exposed. MBW affiliate artist Warlok connects with local Miami artist Dela Candela for a thumping-face-grunting beat overflowing with arrant pimpology.

Hieroglypics' Co-Founder Casual Valiantly Returns w/ The Hierophant

From Todd Davis:

Hieroglypics' Co-Founder Casual Valiantly Returns w/ The Hierophant

Veteran Bay Area emcee, Jon "Casual" Owens, a founding member of the famed Hip-Hop collective Hieroglyphics, is back with his highly anticipated sixth solo LP, The Hierophant, a collaborative effort with the incomparable DJ Toure'.

The impressive fourteen track collection contains high profile appearances from Souls of Mischief's Tajai [The Elect helmed "Shrimp Fried Rice" (the only song on the set not laced by Toure')], Hiero alum Pep Love ["Take The Time"] and Thomas Pridgen ["Where Do I Go"], formerly of The Mars Volta, among others.

"A Hierophant is a person who deciphers arcane knowledge," the self-proclaimed Smash Rockwell describes in great detail, explaining the derivation of the record's unique title. Continuing, he further expresses, "I'm releasing this album to help fund my movie He STILL Think He Raw. Please support. With this, as well as my other albums -- I attempt to make classics."

With more than seventeen years removed from the, now, 35 years young word-smith's classic debut, Fear Itself, there is absolutely no indication of "your favorite rapper's favorite rapper" slowing down anytime soon. In addition to the upcoming feature film, and its full-length musical accompaniment of the same name, there's also a joint project, The Return Of The Backpack, in the works with producer Jake One.

The Hierophant will be available on iTunes, and other select digital outlets, on Tuesday June 21st 2011.

From Mello Music Group:

Video: Has-Lo & Zilla Rocca "Cock Diesel"

Has-Lo released his critically acclaimed long player "In Case I Don't Make It" just before April rolled in, but that hasn't stopped him from hitting the studio to craft new joints.
Today, Has-Lo offers a track he and comrade Zilla Rocca put together called "Cock Diesel".  We got the audio download & video snippet.  The track is lyrical exercise with no shortage of wit:
"I read it. Listen to my old testament, make numbers off proverbs and cop better cribs"
Zilla Rocca (World Around Records) handles the production, replete with swirling strings, bells (though not of the cow variety), and powerful drums.  Add in a sound clip of the late Big Pun to the mix and you have a track that sounds like Humphrey Bogart wandering into the wrong hood...a problem.

PR: DJ Absurd - Flying Colors

From Matt @ Coalmine Records:

DJ Absurd - Flying Colors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - New Jersey native DJ Absurd gets set for the June 28th release of his debut producer compilation, Flying Colors through his newly formed Absurd Entertainment imprint under Diamond Music Group. The project boasts a consortium of both legendary and underground icons such as Craig G, Ransom, Armegeddon, Termanology, Pacewon, Jaz-O, Trife Da God (Trife Diesel), Big Lou, Copywrite and Blaq Poet, among others.

Absurd, who grew up during Hip-Hop's Golden Era, has been both a fan and an active participant of the culture ever since.  By the mid nineties, Absurd's passion for hip-hop would manifest into an ambition to become a disc jockey.  Absurd caught on quick, where he spent the greater half of the decade honing in on his technique, expanding his record archive and establishing his musical niche.   It was around the turn of the millennium where Absurd's skill set as a deejay evolved into the role of producer.  Influenced by beat smith legends such as The RZA, DJ Premier, Dr. Dre & Mobb Deep's Havoc, Absurd began to concoct his own production formula that would soon become sought after by much of the local New Jersey underground hip-hop scene.

Over the next several years, Absurd would go onto launch his own series of street albums titledThe Resume (Volumes 1-5) that exhibit his diverse production talent coupled with an impressive lineup of guest appearances that include Afu Ra, Killah Priest, Kaze, Cymarshall Law, Pumpkinhead, and REKS, in addition to some of the most aspiring talent in the Garden State.

By 2011, Absurd's tireless work ethic and production talent would achieve new heights, landing the scratch composition based intro track for The Undergods (Canibus & Keith Murray) acclaimed LP, In Gods We Trust (Rbc Records).  As the summer quick approaches, Absurd gets ready to drop some more heat with his opus Flying Colors, an EP that cleverly distinguishes itself from the typical producer based compilation albums.  The project's singles include the Jersey themed "Ain't Hard to Find", featuring Dead Poets & Pacewon, the album titled "Flying Colors", featuring the originator Jaz-O, underground word smith Copywrite and the soulful Mela Machinko (Pharoahe Monch) and finally, "Slap Nerds", the Craig G enlisted battle track that fires warning shots to those that tarnish the culture.

Flying Colors is undeniably stockpiled with tremendous talent and conceptually driven music.  Songs such as "Audio Evolution" skillfully breakdown the evolution of musical formats from its analog roots as vinyl to our digital future of MP3s and file sharing, while songs like "In My World" featuring the lyrical Termanology and Big Lou paint vivid pictures of the world in which they live, dissecting compelling imagery that accentuate a darker side of an otherwise colorful album.  When asked about his approach to making music in today's hip-hop generation driven by gimmicks and carbon copied singles, Absurd humbly states "I just follow my heart, and not what's hot at the moment".

With all of Absurd's accolades and involvements, he is quite deserving of being categorized as one of the next great producer deejays on the come-up.  Check out DJ Absurd every Monday evening from 10pm-12am through his "Ear 2 The Streets" radio program that broadcasts live from Kean University (Union, New Jersey).
