Today, Hieroglyphics' own Casual is excited to release his latest album, He Still Think He Raw, available via the crew's long-running label, Hiero Imperium. The album is produced entirely by DJ Fresh & The Whole Shabang, and today, to celebrate the album release, Casual is excited to release a video for recent single, "Sushi" featuring Mr. Town.
Today, Fly Moon Royalty is excited to release their new EP, Dimensions. The five-track EP, which was preceded by lead single "My Heart Keeps Pumping" and the era-specific follow-up "The Birthday Song," is available for free download via the Seattle-based electrosoul duo's Bandcamp page.
Fly Moon Royalty prides itself on the deeper meaning behind their music and song titles, and this EP is no different. The title, Dimensions, stands for and conveys multiple messages for the duo for Seattle. "'Dimensions' speaks on two things," explains Fly Moon Royalty. "First, the various different places, directions, and depth we can go with our music. And the second thing is time, as in, our sound can cross different time periods."
The music on Dimensions reflects that ability to cross different times periods directly, as, according to Fly Moon Royalty, a number of the tracks actually pull from different eras of the group's musical journey. "It's mix-bag of rogue songs that needed a home," explains the duo. "One song was recorded years ago before Fly Moon Royalty was even a group, for example, but even though they were all created at different times, they're all still very much representative of Fly Moon Royalty."
And therefore, despite being released so soon after their debut, rather than serve as a logical extension or progression from Fly Moon Royalty, Dimensions serves as something more unique -- a look at not only where Fly Moon Royalty has been, but also where they're going. "Some of the songs were recorded a long time ago," says Fly Moon. "But the newer ones are most definitely a step forward in writing, recording and mixing."
PR: DJ Nu-Mark Releases Second 10" in Broken Sunlight Series
DJ Nu-Mark explains the magic behind the new tracks. "On ‘Tonight,’ I remember feeling kinda bad that I told J-Live to re-write the lyrics to the song because he’s just one of those artists that you have great chemistry with. In the end he came back with a true depiction of the heart aches, money struggles and financial woes that most people face in today's economy. What goes up must come down eventually. With ‘Feel the Way About It,’ I can't help but think there's a bit of a disconnect between the Middle School and New School Hip Hop. I really wanted to incorporate upcoming MC's in the Broken Sunlight Series. Tiron & Ayomari made “Feel the Way About It” dynamic and heartfelt revealing their process of moving from one girl to the next or simply staying in the relationship.”
As a member of the critically acclaimed, gold-selling Hip-Hop outfit, Jurassic 5, DJ Nu-Mark graced the group with precision production and cutting edge stage routines. He’s also appeared on countless TV Shows with J5, including David Letterman, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel and Craig Ferguson. After more than three years of brainstorming, experimenting and collaborating, he has finished his debut solo album Broken Sunlight, which reveals his influences and innovations into a jaw dropping collection of heartfelt music.
Broken Sunlight also mirrors the marketing behind the album. Instead of releasing all of the songs at once, Nu-Mark plans to post two songs per month for seven months. “At the end of the cycle, I’m going to release the full album with instrumentals, accapelas, and a documentary style DVD of my collaborations in the studio and on the road”.
Fenced In Entertainment presents: Mr 704 new single "Fast Cars" featuring J Spears and produced by K Figz. Music Video produced by Carolina Maine & Mr 704, Directed by Nick McGill of McGill Original Films and A/D Soleternity.
New ScholarMan Project "The Lasting" Now Available!
ScholarMan returns with a new instrumental project, “The Lasting” that features over 20 beats ranging from hip-hop to alternative sounds. Read what he had to say about the digital album below. Link follows.
The Lasting is a collection of beats that I have created over the past year or so. Some of these beats actually had lyrics recorded to them but were never released. I have included a range of sounds on this project – everything from boom-bap hip-hop to alternative melodies. The inspiration and fuel behind the title is simply achieving a level of respect and notoriety that is lasting instead of gaining temporary, trivial attention. In a nutshell, The Lasting creates the legacy.
Block Starz Music Launches Summer Release Schedule With "The Manual Procedures"
Block Starz Music in association with Money First Music Group has released The Manual Procedures, now available on iTunes, by Trenton, New Jersey emcee Boom Blake as the lead off to the German-American digital imprint's summer schedule.
Block Starz released two street singles and music videos from The Manual Procedures, the radio-friendly "Got It On Lock" and raucous street anthem “Conquer Rap”, in the fall of 2011 and grabbed the attention of major urban outlets like All Hip Hop, World Star Hip Hop, and XXL Magazine. Boom Blake, who has shared stages and collaborated with the likes of Cassidy, J.R. Writer, Styles P, and Beanie Sigel, is now filming third music video for the 13-track album's official first single, the hard-hitting “Wilt Chamberlain”, which takes its name from the legendary Hall of Fame NBA center.
"A procedure manual is simply a step by step directional guide on how to get something done," says Boom Blake of his Block Starz Music solo debut, which will be followed by new releases by 24-year-old Sacramento, CA hip-hop artist Lady Remedy, Hispanic rap trio Block Movement, hardcore Alabama rap group Loced Out Ent., and a compilation of various indie artists from the Carolinas.
"I went through a really rough patch, going to court over charges, losing friends to either jail, the streets, and random acts of crime, lost my job and was back into the streets for a bit -- really negative things that could prevent me from doing music. Luckily, I found somethings that switched my attitude and got me focused back on track and to getting this money. So, the concept of The Manual Procedures is me explaining to others on how I bounced back, so others can do it just like I did."
Block Starz Music and Money First Music Group have scheduled an aggressive campaign for The Manual Procedures, which will include a combination of online marketing, street promotion, and local cable advertising spots on Black Entertainment Television and VH1.
