After the extremely well received release of his official debut album 'Life Music' at the end of last year, Grit Grammar returns with a brand new single for 2011 'Ill Rap' featuring Baron Samedi and Iron Braydz. This banger also produced by Baron Samedi (who produced the whole of 'Life Music') reunites the pair to capitalise on the musical chemistry that made Life Music such a success, and teams them up once again with undoubtedly one of the best lyricists in the UK, Iron Braydz, who also featured on Grits debut. 'Ill Rap' clearly show 3 MC's at the top of their game providing, fast super lyrical machine gun flows, over banging forward moving production.

Fresh from supporting Ill Bill & Vinnie Paz at the sold out London show at the Camden Underworld, Grit is continuing to expand his impressive resume after his most successful year to date where he received airplay on Choice FM from Jenny Francis & DJ 279, Radio 1xtra from Ace & Vis, Max, Charlie Sloth and DJ Target and BBC Radio 6 from Tom Robinson on his 'Introducing' show to name a few, as well as receiving incredible high acclaim for his album from the likes of 'Blues and Soul' magazine who called his album 'excellent', giving it a '10/10' review and calling it 'The best UK rap album of 2010'.
This single will not feature on any album and is being released as a FREE DOWNLOAD as a special gift to all Grits supporters, and to also provide some fresh music to the masses as Grits works tirelessly in the Studio with producer Jeporidse on his brand new album and EP.  The track is also accompanied by a video compiled and edited from achieve film footage by Baron Samedi, showcasing the MC and Producers further expanding skill set. Grit continues from where he left off to destroy the scene with another huge banger for 2011. 'ILL RAP', show me where your skills at!!!

New Collaborative Album With DJ Fresh Scheduled For July 19th Release

The Song:

Shady Nate & DJ Fresh recently released a video for the single, "Gimmie Da Loot," and took the opportunity to announce the forthcoming release of their new album, Still Based On A True Story. The project will be the second collaborative album between Nate and Fresh, a follow-up to 2007's Based On A True Story, and while the Bay Area pair have a handful of new videos planned, they're releasing this new single first, to hold fans over as the July 19th release date for Still Based On A True Story approaches.

"Real Ni**a Recipe," a song that also features fellow lyricist Jay Jonah, opens strong, with thick drumbeats providing a foundation for Nate's heady, graveled vocals. DJ Fresh fills things out on the beat with pitched and echoed synth flutters, just enough to keep things interesting but skeletal enough to keep the focus firmly on Nate's winding, quick-fire flow. And kudos to Fresh for playing the background so well; Nate didn't earn the nickname Gasman for no reason, after all, and uses his time here well, laying out the ingredients for keeping things kosher when on the hustle: "Recipe for mobbin'/ I'm just doin' my job and / When I say I'm on the run/ I ain't talking about joggin'."

Shady Nate's new album Still Based On A True Story comes out July 19, via Fresh In The Flesh/Shady Nation.

Toronto based singer songwriter Kae Sun turned to his native Ghana for inspiration for his new EP, Outside the Barcode. The return to his homeland after nine years of living in Canada renewed his drive for creating the raw and non-commoditized artistic experiences that shaped his passion for music.

Outside the Barcode is an authentic and reflective collection of songs that showcase Kae's growth as a songwriter, storyteller and guitarist. Recorded on 2-inch tape on a farm in Ontario the raw acoustic songs recall the sense of community and authenticity that inspired the tracks. Kae's focus was to create a more shared listening experience rather than dictating his audience's experiences.

"It's not about making music to get something out of people, but rather sharing experiences, capturing moments and communicating through music and lyrics," he says. The result is an EP that conjures the collaborative spirit and culture of sharing that Kae experienced in Ghana.

This new effort by the singer-songwriter builds on the success of his previous releases. Lion on a Leash (2009), the well-received follow up to his EP Ghost Town (2007) landed on the iTunes 2009 Rewind List and earned esteemed reviews from Exclaim, The Montreal Gazette, and topped many critic's lists for top indie release of the year. The success of Kae's work has led him to play venues and festivals across Canada, UK, Dubai and Ghana.

Outside The Barcode is available for free download as of June 29 via Kae's website.
