"R U Down?" marks Chippy's newest material following the release of her eclectic, party-inducing EP, #MONEYDANCE101. Never one to do the expected, Chippy swaps her feisty hypersexuality for a more Lolita vibe with this track, offering a glimpse of what the firecracker from The Bay is like once the strobe lights dim. Ryan Hemsworth lends his talents to Chippy's latest track and infuses it with the hazy, ethereal, and whimsical sound that he has become known for. All trapness is not lost, however: while Chippy purrs romantically, Antwon comes through with a solid party rap verse that is reminiscent of Method Man's "All I Need."
June links up with fellow Memphis native Skewby to assist him on the MLK sampled One Day. "One Day" is one of the fan favorite's off his successful debut mixtape EVOL, which is available on Datpiff. EVOL has garnered almost 25,000 streams/downloads since it's 10/25 release.
On the morning of October 28th, Richie Cunning and John Coyne hit the SF streets at sunrise to shoot this video for Richie's song "City Boy" from the Late Night Special Mixtape. Later that day, the San Francisco Giants won the World Series... I'm just sayin.. RIchie Cunning, born in raised in San Francisco, flips the Journey classic into his own anthem.
"When I first heard the "spoken" beat, it immediately put me in a New York State of mind. As soon as the drums hit, It took me back to that classic East Coast sound that I grew up with as a kid. Being from Cali, I can recall a time when that whole East vs West conflict dominated the rap scene. When I think about it now, its funny but back then their were actually cats getting mad at the way me and my crew got down. They felt we were too caught up in the East Coast, rocking Timberlands and hoodies like we just hopped off the subway. It was no secret that we were fans of that rugged NYC sound. We repped it to the point that we defended it as if it were our own. When a lot of folks out west turned away from East Coast hip hop, we gravitated to it even more.
