Fellow Virginia Natives And Long-Time Collaborators Revisit D.M.P. Days With New Track

The Song:

Coming off the recent success of his collaborative EP with Asher Roth, RAWTH, released in late 2010, and the release of his debut solo album, You Need This Music, before that, the Virginia-based Nottz is back in the studio doing what he does best. Earlier this year Nottz brought fans a track with Compton rapper A-WOLL, and now Nottz is releasing a new collaborative track "Temptation", with fellow Virginia native and long-time collaborator Ivory Keyes. Nottz and Keyes' friendship stems from their young days as group members of D.M.P., and with this new track Nottz shows off his signature style, as he layers pounding drums, thick, rolling bass, and guitar plucks to compliment Keyes' street oriented bars.

Check out the song here: http://media.audibletreats.com/Ivory_Keyes-Temptation_Ft_And_Prod_Nottz.mp3 .

The Background:

Since 1998, some of Virginia-born Nottz' biggest records to date include, Snoop Dogg Ft R.Kelly "That's That," Kanye West Ft Lil Wayne "Barry Bonds," and Scarface Ft Trey Songz "Girl You Know." Adding to those credits, he has collaborated with artists such as Notorious B.I.G, Swizz Beats, The Game, 50 Cent, Dwele, and Murs just to name a few. These past few years he has built fan base and earned his stripes as a respected and talented artist and, on October 19th 2010, he is set to release his self-produced debut, You Need This Music. All of Nottz' hard work has been, in his words, "to take over the world one day with my sound."

PR: LATE Presents Final Penalty - "The Payscale"

From Park Street PR:

LATE Presents Final Penalty - "The Payscale"

Final Penalty are a rap duo from Central Illinois. Brothers Chef B and Mr. Cutlass formed the group Final Penalty and Hazmat Productionz to record a collection of tracks a few years ago, and ever since have been making a buzz not only in the USA but also in Europe. They have a fresh new style to the underground rap scene which is considered to be ahead of their time. Chef B is the producer and known as the brain behind the Hazmat Label, and together the duo combine solid rap skills with dope beats to create a different style of rap which at the time has no genre.

With four underground albums already released in 2010 shows the work ethic and determination of the Final Penalty is hard. After Wolftown Recordings CEO LATE discovered Final Penalty they began to chop it up before LATE hooking up this Tricksta produced EP for Wolftown. 'The Pay Scale' is a deep, dark, mysterious and banging EP that reality rap fans will love and adore. LATE features on the first track 'Stand Up, Man Up' which is already getting love from the Hip-Hop media both sides of the pond. This is a great release and is some refreshingly original in an era when everyone is trying to be a pop star.

(via RCRD LBL)

Coming off a busy 2010 with relentless touring and the release of "Triggers", the global-beat influence bass duo Sub Swara are staying plenty busy unleashing their new mash-up of Cee-Lo Green's "F*ck You" with their track "Fire It Up". The group says "Cee-Lo’s ‘F*ck You’ was last year’s heartbreak anthem, and while we were putting together Triggers Mixtape Vol. 2, we couldn’t resist mashing it up with the instrumental of our tune, ‘Fire it Up’. We debuted it at LA’s illustrious Low End Theory night, and it’s been a blast every time we’ve weaved it into our sets since."

Also, don't forget to get Sub Swara's latest reworking of Glitch Mob's "Starve The Ego, Feed The Soul"

The duo is also set to be back on the road this month, touring Colorado.

"it sounds like this time their beat vacation took them on an intergalactic spaceship ride, with giant rhythms and chirps that sound warped in from the outer reaches of the universe but retain a distinctly warm, human quality.
-The FADER
"Brooklyn bass duo Sub Swara will scramble your insides with low-end by any means necessary. Their music refuses to sit still or be easily described, frantically crossing the lines between instrumental hip-hop, dubstep, house, dub, dancehall, trip-hop and South Asian field recordings. But their motives are clear: boom, pound, move feet, rattle brains."
-Village Voice
"The outfit now specializes in a whatever-makes-you-bang style of bass music that's fresh and compelling, and doesn't pay much mind to the lines of electronic sub-genres. "Steam" from Sub Swara's latest album, Triggers. This flits from ominous, exotic hand-drumming into a more traditional techno beat, then goes all dubstep on your ass. Dhruva and Sharma make this stuff with the help of real instruments -- they recorded the drums for this song in India -- so it's not surprising that their sound goes beyond what you expect to hear in "electronic" music.
-SF Weekly

SUB SWARA
Brooklyn-based Sub Swara writes, produces and performs genre-bending bass music that parallels the diversity of their hometown.  Consisting of Dhruva and Dave Sharma, Sub Swara's musical genome brings together a wide assortment of DNA - dub to hip-hop, dancehall to punk rock, and all the global sounds in between.  With sets crafted for both dancefloor intensity and cerebral curiosity, Sub Swara combines electronic production, live instrumentation, and 3000% of recommended energy levels to create an ecstatic, human experience.

Originally started a club night, Sub Swara has always focused on melding bass music of all creeds and cultures.  Over 3 years, the night became one of the most popular and respected club nights in NYC, hosting artists such as Mary Ann Hobbs, The Glitch Mob, Bassnectar, The Bug, and Poirier.  Sub Swara released their 2008 debut album, Coup d'Yah, to  widespread acclaim; critics and tastemakers from Pitchfork, to XLR8R, BBC Radio 1 and the FADER all lauded its seamless melding of varied rhythms, intricate global instrumentation and production both deep and dancefloor-centric. Sub Swara's remix of Balkan Beatbox's "Balkumbia" was featured in the Fader/Nike mixtape series for the 2010 World Cup, Pitch Perfect.

Sub Swara's second album, Triggers (Low Motion Records), continues the group's exploration of different spaces in bass music, and draws from a completely unique sound pallete that marries both live (much of the percussion is actually played by Sub Swara, in addition to other instruments by guest artists) and electronic elements.

With vocalists such as Dead Prez, Lyrics Born, Kendra Foster of Parliament Funkadelic and the up and coming hip hop act, Freddie Mills featured on Triggers, the collaborations are largely hip hop and soul-based, while the vocals in Coup d'Yah were largely dancehall. The instrumental collaborations feature the afrobeat horns of Antibalas, beatboxer Shamik, and a host of master session musicians from around the world.
