Mixtape: Amoeba Music Group Presents "No Rookies Allowed"

From Nancy B:

Mixtape: Amoeba Music Group Presents "No Rookies Allowed"

* http://norookiesallowed.com/ *

Welcome to “No Rookies Allowed,” a mixtape that shines a light on talented artists on their independent grind. Manhattan’s Amoeba Music Group and ElmoSince87.com offer this as the first in a series of label-blog collaborations. Unsigned? Yes. Unskilled? No.

From the personal stories of the artists to the making of the tape, “No Rookies Allowed” is an interesting project all around. What started as an idea by a blogger named Elmo (yes, that’s his real name) evolved into discussions with a Wall St. trader who runs his own label, DG. They targeted a talent pool of up and coming artists from different backgrounds like Dee-1 and Anthem. Where else would you hear a middle school teacher-turned-rapper or an emcee that traded in a Wall St. career for his dreams, all in one place?

Blogs have done so much for hip-hop, but good music still goes unheard. Together, AMG and ElmoSince87 hope to bring some of that music to light. NRA is a great way to give a voice to more artists and take advantage of how viral music is becoming. This benefits the artists, blogs, and listeners. Most of all, it’s good for hip-hop.

MP3: Nottz & Asher Roth - "Gotta Get Up"

From Audible Treats:

MP3: Nottz & Asher Roth - "Gotta Get Up"

Latest Single From Rawth EP Features One-Half Of Chester French

The Song:

As the December 27th release of Nottz & Asher Roth's Rawth EP approaches, the unlikely duo continue to release tracks from the project to whet the appetites of fans. This latest track, "Gotta Get Up" features DA, one-half of Chester French, and kicks off with a flow of piano chords before Nottz' own signature bass and drums kick in. As DA sings "Gotta get up, gotta get out, gotta get home before the morning comes," Asher, in his patented laid back flow, spits tales of laziness and partying – and hoping to find a way to leave the party lifestyle behind.

Nottz & Asher Roth's Rawth EP will be available for free download on December 27th. Fans can also look forward to having the EP as a physical collectors item, as the EP will be available on limited edition vinyl in 2011.

Download "Gotta Get Up" for free here: http://media.audibletreats.com/Nottz_And_Asher_Roth-Gotta_Get_Up_Ft_DA_Of_Chester_French.mp3 .

The Background:

Since 1998, some of Virginia-born Nottz' biggest records to date include, Snoop Dogg Ft R.Kelly "That's That," Kanye West Ft Lil Wayne "Barry Bonds," and Scarface Ft Trey Songz "Girl You Know." Adding to those credits, he has collaborated with artists such as Notorious B.I.G, Swizz Beats, The Game, 50 Cent, Dwele, and Murs just to name a few. These past few years he has built fan base and earned his stripes as a respected and talented artist and, on October 19th 2010, he is set to release his self-produced debut, You Need This Music. All of Nottz' hard work has been, in his words, "to take over the world one day with my sound.
