From Kerosene Media:

New Big B Single: "Before I Leave This Place" f/ Everlast

BIG B ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM "GOOD TIMES & BAD ADVICE" FOR SEPTEMBER 14;

FIRST SINGLE “BEFORE I LEAVE THIS PLACE” FEATURING EVERLAST NOW STREAMING ONLINE

Los Angeles, CA - Genre-hopping recording artist Big B has announced a September 14th release date for his fifth studio album, Good Times & Bad Advice.  The first single, “Before I Leave This Place” featuring Everlast is currently streaming online at www.myspace.com/hooliganbigb  and is available on iTunes now. The album is the next step in Big B’s growing musical evolution as he mixes elements of rock, hip-hop, along with his trademark laid-back acoustics, to create a sound that embodies his feel-good lifestyle. In addition to Everlast, the album includes guest appearances by Pepper, Unwritten Law's Scott Russo, Glasses Malone and Cisco Adler.

It’s rare for an artist to cross genres as seamlessly as Big B has consistently done over the years and he only continues to break down the boundaries, being embraced in any genre or environment he steps into. BIG B has become known for his raw and honest style, likening him to a modern day Johnny Cash yet blending in his own elements, namely hip-hop, alternative rock, country and even a laid-back reggae vibe. Not just in his recording, but his touring companions have ranged from artists of all genres including Pepper, Pennywise, REHAB, Kottonmouth Kings, Tech N9ne, The Expendables and he is currently on the Strange Noize Tour with Hed(Pe) and Kutt Calhoun.

Continuing to expand his image to diverse audiences, BIG B has even entered into a partnership with Madison Square Garden to feature the album’s title track in the legendary venue’s entire summer advertising campaign. BIG B was also a regular cast member on the A&E hit television series INKED, focusing on his work at the Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company in Las Vegas alongside his friend and freestyle motocross icon Carey Hart. INKED became one of the most viewed television shows in A&E’s history and brought BIG B an entirely new fan base.

The video for “Before I Leave This Place” was recently shot and will be released in the coming weeks. Of working with Everlast on the track, Big B recently stated, “It was a true honor to record and shoot a video with an icon such as Everlast. He has greatly inspired me over the years and I truly respect him as an artist and a friend in this business we call music!”

Video: OKPTV Presents: David Banner & 9th Wonder - Death Of A Pop Star Interview Part 1

David Banner And 9th Wonder Sit Down With OkayPlayer To Discuss Their Upcoming Album

The Video:

As we continue to approach the highly anticipated release of Death Of A Pop Star, OkayPlayer.com's OKPTV met up with the project's collaborators, the Grammy Award-winning duo David Banner and 9th Wonder, to bring us the first half of an interview, shot while the two were recently in New York for their Peter Rosenberg-presented An Evening With... event. Upon the opening moments of the video, fan's biggest curiosities are put to rest, as the two address their surprising partnership and how it came about. Though a difference in personality is clear, their chemistry is undeniable. Among other topics discussed, are the many common grounds shared by Banner and 9th. The creative duo also touch on their next single, "Be With You" featuring Marsha Ambrosius and Ludacris, as well as their behind the scenes arguments over some of the project's creative decisions.

Look for David Banner and 9th Wonder's collaborative album, Death Of A Pop Star, this summer via Big Face Entertainment.

Check out David Banner & 9th Wonder's "Slow Down" Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKLOeDJcQv4 .

The Background:

9th Wonder has a history of teaming with legendary emcees and crafting dream projects that have resulted in both critical and commercial success. A producer from North Carolina, 9th Wonder started his career as the main producer for the hip-hop group, Little Brother. Leaving Little Brother after their second album together, The Minstrel Show, 9th Wonder has since become a producer and emcee in his own right. Working with MURS, Nas, Beyonce, Jay-Z and more, 9th Wonder has made a name for himself in the hip-hop world. Also known as his rapper alterego, 9thmatic, 9th Wonder is a modern-day hip-hop renaissance man. Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, David Banner has made a name for himself on the hip-hop scene since 2000. Since then, he has released four studio albums and even became a celebrated producer like producing smash hits like T.I.'s "Rubberband Man," and having smash hits of his own like "Get Like Me". David Banner's most recent successes include writing, producing, and arranging (with guidance from Jimmy Smith and The G Team at Chalt Day) the new non-hip hop Gatorade theme song "Evolve," performed by Kermit Quinn. Teaming up with 9th Wonder may seem like an unusual collaboration but as the two talented artists come together, their initial album will leave a deep impression on fans. Death of A Pop Star drops summer 2010 via David Banner's own Big Face Entertainment.

Devo Spice Update for 7/13/2010

From Devo Spice:

Devo Spice Update for 7/13/2010

Hey everyone,

I've crawled out from under the boxes I've been packing to give you a quick update.

--== SUDDEN DEATH SALE ENDING ==--
This is your last call for cheap Sudden Death CDs and cassettes.  The sale ends Thursday afternoon, right before I get on the road for Nerdapalooza.  Basically I'm just going to reset the prices in the database and then get on the road.  So if you want to pick up some cheap CDs ($4.99) and cassettes ($2.99) be sure to get your orders in before Thursday afternoon.

--== NERDAPALOOZA ==--
Nerdapalooza is this weekend in Orlando, FL and I'm freakin' psyched.  My set is Saturday afternoon at 3:25 right before the lunch break.  That's assuming this thing stays on schedule which I highly doubt it will, but that's cool.

Other FuMP artists performing include Positive Attitude (Sat 11:20 AM), Schaffer The Darklord (Sat 6:55 PM, yes he's a FuMP artist, he just hasn't posted anything yet), Worm Quartet (Sun 1:30 PM), and The Great Luke Ski (Sun 3:15).

For all the gory details go to http://nerdapalooza.org

--== THE HIP HOP SHOP INTERVIEW ==--
If you missed the interview I did Sunday night on The Hip Hop Shop you can now listen to it online here: http://www.rapreviews.com/news/View.php?ArticleID=2647

OK, back to packing.

Trek Life to Release "Everything Changed Nothing" on July 27th

From Audible Treats:

Trek Life To Release New Album Everything Changed Nothing On July 27th

So Supreme" To Be Lead Single Off Forthcoming Oddisee-Produced Album

(July 13, 2010 – Brooklyn, NY) California bred emcee Trek Life is excited to announce the release of his latest album, Everything Changed Nothing. Produced entirely by Oddisee, the album will be released July 27th via Mello Music Group.

The album is the culmination of years of collaboration between Trek and producer Oddisee that began with the remixes of Price I've Paid, Trek's debut LP. Undaunted by the thousands of miles separating them, the pair have crafted yet another example of how a producer and an artist with the right chemistry can maintain a winning streak. "We both knew exactly what we were trying to do from the beginning," explains Trek. "Oddisee is a producer in every sense of the world. He had a direction and it was my job to manifest it lyrically." Oddisee's sonic backdrop invoked a verbal assault from Trek that remains raw, and unapologetic throughout the album as Trek sheds light on the "ugly nature of the world" with his gritty but poignant lyricism.

"So Supreme", the album's lead single has generated a powerful buzz. The track was featured on ESPN recently for the network's coverage of the Stanley Cup and NBA Playoffs. The track was a perfect fit for video clips that thrive on ideas of competition and perseverance; with a hard-hitting beat and aggressive rhymes complimenting the action on screen. In regards to Trek's original intent of the track, he says, "This song is really just re-establishing my footing as an emcee. Strictly raw rhymes." Certainly having the lead single of your new album catch the attention of the world's premier sports broadcasting network is a good early indication of the album's merit.

The album's title stems from the emcee's role as a father. Speaking affectionately of his daughter, Trek says, "I was thinking how much she means to me and how she's literally everything I ever wanted, but the reality is life, in general, goes on." The album speaks to the real life of nearly everyone. The personal struggles, trials and tribulations quite simply don't act as roadblocks to the freight train that is life. It’s a sobering fact that Trek seems to have a good handle on. On tracks like "So LA" and the soul-scorching "Jump Out There" Trek makes clear his reality-to-fantasy ratio is stacked well in favor of the former. Gritty tracks of urban reality cross-pollinate with songs that deal with romantic desire such as the Bootsy Collins inspired "I'd Rather Be".

Much as rock groups had classic line-ups lending to their defining sound, many of hip-hop's classic recordings were a result of the pairing of producers and emcees that simply shared an undeniable chemistry. From the legendary DJ Premier and GURU of Gangstarr to Pete Rock and CL Smooth, duos with a history of building towards developing a distinct sound have often won out in the long run. Oddisee and Trek Life carry on the tradition of keeping a close-knit group dynamic together resulting in the production of a coherent and consistent effort.

Trek Life's Everything Changed Nothing, produced entirely by Oddisee, drops July 27th via Mello Music group.

With a growing global fan-base that has resulted from consistently touring the United States, the UK, and Europe, Trek Life is planning on releasing 3 projects in 2010 with J.Bizness (Rhymes Within Reason EP), Oddisee (Everything Changed Nothing), and Babu (Fire Outside), all through Mello Music Group. Paired with each of these albums, there will be a Digital 12, featuring clean, dirty, and instrumental versions of each album's lead single for free download. MP3: CookBook & Uno Mas - "When You Rock & Roll" f/ Evidence

From Audible Treats:

MP3: CookBook & Uno Mas - "When You Rock & Roll" f/ Evidence

Following Video, Cookbook & Uno Mas Release MP3 For Their Latest Single

The Song:

In "When You Rock & Roll," emcees Cookbook, Uno Mas, and Evidence take turns giving heartfelt renditions of their own struggles with life as an artist; the ups-and-downs, successes and failures that come with being a musician staying true to their art. The song begins with a sample, "How much can you get for your soul?" While the subject is one that others have tackled before, the emcees avoid clichés by being honest. They don't pretend to be above the influence of money, as Evidence raps "I know both sides of the fence" over the beats vocal chops, instrumental loops, and thick drums.

"When You Rock & Roll" is featured on Cookbook & Uno Mas' C&U Music Factory, out nowvia AudioSketchBook / End Of Earth Records.
