RBC RECORDS & AFFILIATED LABELS SCORE TEN SLOTS IN THIS WEEKS BILLBOARD TOP 100 RAP ALBUMS CHART
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After 10 years in business and just over 400 releases under its belt, RBC Records has exerted its independent grip by having 10 albums appear in Billboard’s Top 100 Rap Chart in each of the past two weeks coming from labels RBC either owns or represents.
Scoring the highest chart position is the new album from West Coast legend Ice Cube’s titled “I Am The West” on Cube’s Lench Mob Records, clocking in at number 10 after debuting at number 6 last week. RBC continues to focus its online marketing efforts to extend this success and grow awareness.
Accounting for half of these Top 100 Rap chart positions is the independent Label juggernaut Strange Music with Tech N9ne’s Collabos album “The Gates Mixed Plate”. Alongside the most recent Krizz Kaliko album “Shock Treatment”, the Kansas City based label has shown its staying power with last years Tech N9ne solo album “KOD” & Collabos album “Sickology 101” continuing to chart on the Top 100. Not to mention Brotha Lynch Hung’s resurgence with his “Dinner & A Movie” album, which was released this March.
Additionally, after more than 6 months on the chart, E-40’s two albums "Revenue Retrievin: Day Shift & Night Shift" (via Heavy on Da Grind Ent.) continue to chart off the strength of the bubbling radio single “Bitch” featuring Too Short and his on-going “Independent Grind” tour with Tech N9ne.
Under it’s own record label banner, RBC Records charted with B.G.’s “Hollyhood”, the follow up to last years “Too Hood 2 Be Hollywood” and the reunion album from West Coast legends the Thug Lordz.
“This continued chart success is a true testament to the power of our independence,” says co-owner Brian Shafton, “showing how integral RBC has become within the independent format. Obviously, all of these releases are indie and we are legitimately competing with the majors and beating them when it comes to succeeding on a release.”
Serving as a general management/Marketing & Consulting firm, RBC Records represents over a dozen independent urban labels (Strange Music, Sick Wid It, Heavy On Da Grind, 8 Ways Ent., SMC, DJ Quik’s Mad Science, EP Records, etc.) across the country advising them on the independent game. In addition to representing its own roster of artists (B.G., Thug Lordz, B-Real, C-Murder and more) for its own label, RBC is a full service marketing firm that is contracted for high profile independent releases (Ice Cube, Tech N9ne and countless others).

Chuck D Featured in the Film "The Quiet Arrangement"
PE / SLAMjamz music video director and our good friend, David “C-Doc” Snyder, has written and directed his debut feature film, The Quiet Arrangement.
C-Doc is a very talented filmmaker who has directed over 100 SLAMjamz videos and every Public Enemy music video since 2005, so when he approached me to be in The Quiet Arrangement, I jumped at the opportunity.
Last year I had the pleasure of seeing the Pittsburgh premiere of the film and it’s got to be one of the best, most unique, refreshing films I’ve seen in years. The movie takes so many unexpected twists and turns that it blew my mind when I finally got to see it on the big screen.
The film has been in numerous film festivals, has won awards and critical acclaim, and just became available on DVD! If you want to see what I’m talking about, check out the trailer at www.quietarrangement.com
Also, C-Doc is giving away a big collection of bonus gifts that include music from the film and the original screenplay.
P.S.- The Quiet Arrangement is only being sold at www.quietarrangement.com, so if you know anyone else who might be interested in experiencing a great independent film, please forward this e-mail so they can take advantage of this offer, too!
Wandering Worx Entertainment Launches Canadian Record Label
Wandering Worx Entertainment is celebrating the launch of its new Canadian record label, Wandering Worx Music, with upcoming releases from hot new hip hop producer Rel!g!on.
Revelationz 1, Rel!g!on’s debut record, features the legendary Chuck D of Public Enemy, underground hip hop veteran Planet Asia, and Pittsburgh up-and-comer Jasiri X. The Wandering Worx-produced video for the record’s first single, Lucid, is currently in rotation on Much Music and features West Coast hip hop heavy-hitters Moka Only and E.D.G.E.
Wandering Worx co-founder Rodney Davidson is pleased with the reception the label’s first release has received so far.
“We’re ecstatic that Rel!g!on’s debut, and essentially the debut of our label, has received such attention already,” said Davidson, referring to favourable words in national publications Rap Reviews and Exclaim Magazine. “Our goal is to keep this positive momentum going with some exciting collaborations and the signing of more talented artists to the Wandering Worx label in the coming weeks.”
Davidson and partner Hayden Baptiste (pka Rel!g!on) will also collaborate with hit songwriter Jenson Vaughan, who has worked with Shaggy and Musiq Souldchild. The label will also work with talented Vancouver producer Chin Injeti, who has worked with Kanye West, Drake and 50 Cent, in addition to producing two tracks on Eminem’s latest album Recovery.
Based in Vancouver, BC, Wandering Worx Entertainment is home to Wandering Worx Music and Wandering Worx Films. The film production company has an extensive resume including working with director Andre C. Erin (Confined, Simple Things, Sam’s Lake), winning the 2003 Canwest Comedy Film Festival, and producing the Berkeley Film Festival Grand Prize-winning feature Kick Me Down, starring David Richmond-Peck (V, The Day The Earth Stood Still). Wandering Worx is currently producing a full-length, science fiction feature written by Nicholas Treeshin, tentatively titled The 40 Year Deal.
