"Life's easy, Death is hard..."

Dealing with the lost of a loved one is a pain that's hard to describe. Even those who've felt it before may not fully understand how it affects them. David "Disco D" Shayman really made a profound impact on my life, even after his passing. His presence in this world was expressed in many different forms. He was a DJ, Producer, Son, Mentor, Businessman, Leader, Entrepreneur, Trendsetter and Pioneer but to me he simply was a great friend. Four years ago, he committed suicide and I have never fully recovered from this incident. Truthfully, I don't think I ever will.

Friendship is also a term that many may find difficult to articulate. True friends are very rare characters who appear ion the story of your life, and thankfully Disco D was written within a chapter of mines. I only knew him for a short period of time, but those moments were some of the most critical of my life thus far. His was the brightest fire, extinguished far before it's time but I refuse his life to be remembered as a mere ember. I wrote this song to help raise awareness for people like him. For the families and friends he left behind. For the lives that can be saved.

Often in death, we think about the "What if's". What if I had saw the signs? What if I had intervened? What if I heard the cries for help? It's questions like these plague and torment us but I've learned that you must be aware of these questions in life. So with that being said, I ask you to please help me continue and honor my friends legacy by helping to save the life of someone you know. Someone who may be a total stranger. Anyone who may suffer the same fate as David did. Please be aware.

If you would like to help support the cause of Suicide Prevention I have selected a charity to which you can donate called the "American Foundation of Suicide Prevention". I am in no way, shape or form affiliated with this organization and I won't receive a cent. I just believe that they understand this devastating problem which afflicts many people within our communities and are doing many things to help prevent these type of tragedies.

David "Disco D" Shayman. Until we meet again.

Nottz Teams With Compton MC For Latest Collaborative Track

The Single:

While Grammy Award-winning producer/rapper Nottz continues to ride high on the 2010 release of his debut solo album, You Need This Music, 2011 figures to be another busy year for the Virginia-based artist. Starting off the new year on a high note, Nottz is releasing a new collaborative track, with Compton, California rapper A-WOLL. The two originally linked in 2010 - A-WOLL cites Nottz as his favorite producer - and the resulting effort is "Active," a fusion of A-WOLL's street oriented raps with Nottz bass heavy boom-bap, which will appear on A-WOLL's debut album, To Whom It May Concern, scheduled for a 2011 release.

Nottz' You Need This Music is available now via Raw Koncept Media Group.

Hieroglyphics Announce Six City West Coast Mini-Tour

Hiero Crew Partners With Capcom, Embarks On Late-January West Coast Run

(January 12, 2011 – Brooklyn, NY) The Legendary Hieroglyphics Crew is excited to announce a six-date west coast tour, which will be sponsored by Capcom's Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video game. All Hiero members – Del The Funky Homosapien, Souls of Mischief, Pep Love, Casual, Domino and DJ Toure – will be hitting the road for the show dates, which will kick off Friday, January 21st in San Diego, CA and wrap up 10 days later in Modesto, CA, while making stops in Flagstaff, AZ, Los Angeles, CA, Santa Clara, CA, and Petaluma, CA along the way.

Following a year that saw the release of the Hieroglyphics x GoldCoin Capsule Collection, an art collaboration with W.A.I.L., a clothing collaboration with Akomplice, and the crew's first Oakland performance in a decade, the Hiero crew is excited to kick off the new year with a string of shows and new releases. "We're looking forward to celebrating the past, with this being the 20 year anniversary of Del's I Wish My Brother George Was Here, and also to give fans a preview of what we have coming up; the whole crew is planning a variety of new projects for 2011," remarks Tajai. "And, in a time of impersonal communication, it'll be fun to interact with the fans face-to-face."

After recording the song and shooting the accompanying video for "Battle Drum" for the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 video game last year, Hiero will continue their collaboration with the gaming company in 2011. The video game will be released on February 15th and leading up to the release, Capcom will serve as official sponsor for the mini-tour. "We're thankful that Capcom is giving us this platform and allowing us to get out on the road," says Tajai. The tour will feature a special segment dedicated to the video game with a performance of "Battle Drum," and there will also be a special party in celebration of the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 game, which will round out the six-date tour.
