From Kerosene Media:

Slaine (La Coka Nostra) to Appear on ABC Drama

Boston rapper Slaine, of the rap super group, La Coka Nostra, has been cast in an upcoming episode of the ABC television drama 'Body Of Proof', alongside Dana Delany (Desperate Housewives) and John Carroll Lynch (Gran Torino, Shutter Island). The episode will be broadcast on the series’ first season, which is scheduled to air on Tuesday, March 29th, 2011 at 10pm EST.

“As a lot of people know I have branched out from hip-hop to acting and this will be my first venture into network television. I’m really looking forward to working on this, as it’s a great show with a fantastic cast. I look at everything I do from music to acting, as a means to expand my reach as a storyteller,” commented Slaine. “On the music side of things I’m currently clearing samples and putting the finishing touches on my upcoming solo album ‘A World With No Skies’, which will be out in early 2011.”

ABC’s “Body Of Proof” is the story of Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) a brilliant neurosurgeon whose world is turned upside down when an accident puts an end to her time in the operating room.  In her new career as a Medical Examiner, she is determined to solve the puzzle of who or what killed the victims. Along the way, Megan finds their lives and the lessons they hold can be applied to her own personal journey of redemption and forgiveness.

“Body Of Proof” stars Dana Delany as Dr. Megan Hunt, Jeri Ryan as Dr. Kate Murphy, John Carroll Lynch as Detective Bud Morris, Nicholas Bishop as Peter Dunlop, Sonja Sohn as Detective Samantha Baker, Geoffrey Arend as Dr. Ethan Gross, and Windell D. Middlebrooks as Dr. Curtis Brumfield. The series is created by Christopher Murphey and executive-produced by Murphey, Matthew Gross, and Sunil Nayar. “Body of Proof” is produced by Gross Entertainment and ABC Studios.

Slaine recently released his video for the track ’99 Bottles’, which was directed by Danny Boy O'Connor from House of Pain/La Coka Nostra, online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIJ88VWlo3c . The track is the first single from his new solo album, "A World With No Skies", which is available for pre-order online at http://bit.ly/gw6n0v .

Slaine is currently offering fans a free download of his new mixtape “The Devil Never Dies” available online at http://subnoize.fm/devilneverdies .

MP3: Soulbrotha - "The Niger Delta"

From Soulbrotha:

MP3: Soulbrotha - "The Niger Delta"

This song in particular is very dear to me because of where I'm from and what my people in that part of the world are currently going through. There's been a lot of uproar and attention to environmental disasters arising from the Gulf Oil Spill that came about this summer and towards the latter part of the year but what has gone unspoken is disasters of this ilk that occur on a more frequent basis in parts of the world particularly Africa that don't even register a blip on the radar.

The good folks at DJBooth.net have featured the song in its own column and have left room for your listening pleasure, comments, thoughts and reviews.

I hope you enjoy listening and are inspired in some way to focus on what really matters.

Free Music Friday: Shuddup, it's Saturday, Fool! Edition

As I woke up on my drool-filled laptop, I realized, "OH snap~! I forgot to send in the FMF on the second F! But don't fret, instead of letting these free music go to waste, I'll give it to y'all today to bump for your weekend. One love to all the FMF readers, your listening is indeed appreciated.

B.o.B ;: No Genre

[As we all know, B.o.B proved himself as the hottest newcomer in rap this year, although it was a very long time coming. To show that he isn't just lazy in celebrating his newfound success, "No Genre" shows B.o.B as a cat who stays on his hustle. "No Genre" features appearances from CyHi Da Prince, Young Dro, Bun B, and T.I.]

Das Racist :: Sit Down, Man

[Yeah, this is a mixtape I criminally slept on. "Sit Down, Man" was released for a while, yet folks are still introduced to the styles of Das Racist to a great approval. They already earned a spot on Rolling Stones' Single of the Year and while Das Racist is one of the funniest rap group names I heard in a while, yet they're not joking. Just joking, they are joking. Just joking, they're not joking. Hahahaha jk?]

Evidence :: I Don't Need Love

[Evidence and the Beatles. What do they have in common? While you think of any comparision, check out this new freEP from Evidence as he mashes his rhymes together with Beatles joints. This also happens to be released on the 40th anniversary of the Beatles' break-up. Wow, 40 years already, huh? R.I.P. John Lennon and George Harrison.]

Low Budget Crew :: Low Budget Christmas (2nd Edition)

[You might remember that I put this up on FMF last year. However, this one is the second edition where there are additional vocal tracks sprinkled in for your holiday jingle. If you haven't heard it yet, then don't be a Scrooge and d/l it for your holiday cheer.]

Rapsody :: Return of the B-Girl

[Don't you ever say female rappers are dead, unless their name is Nicki Minaj. Rapsody is determined to show that females can rock as hard as men, or even better, in this new Star wars-influcenced "Return of the B-Girl" mixtape. With 9th serving as the Obi-Wan, Rapsody takes you to the galaxy far, far away with her ridiculous rhymes on display.]

The Artifacts Are Back!

The Artifacts were a thing of the past — a part of underground hip-hop history. Known for their two albums, 1994’s Between a Rock and a Hard Place and 1997’s That’s Them (and their biggest hit, “Wrong Side of Da Tracks”), the Newark-based duo split up in 1998. El Da Sensei and Tame One (the latter pictured above) continued their careers as solo artists.

The breakup wasn’t bitter; they just decided to record separately. A little over two years ago, however, at the Rock Steady Crew’s 31st anniversary party, they found themselves together on stage again, and they really liked it.
