Video: Illus f/ J-Live - "Magical"

lllus is one of Hip-Hop’s best kept secrets; an underground emcee and artist hailing from Connecticut, and he has toured the globe and worked with some of the greatest emcees of all time including Chuck D. (Public Enemy), Dilated Peoples, Blackalicious, R.A. the Rugged Man, and more.   A professional art teacher and world-famous illustrator, Illus is responsible for the official Public Enemy comic book series and has designed and illustrated album art and merchandise for legendary artists such as KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions, Freddie Foxxx, Statik Selektah, J-Live, Ill Bill, Apathy, Public Enemy and more.

In 2011, Illus released For Adam, a ten-track collection of songs that epitomize the very best of what Hip-Hop has to offer as an art form and culture; positivity, a hardcore sound, passionate delivery and meaningful lyrics and beats that penetrate the mind and soul and leave the audience feeling inspired. For Adam also featured an incredible collection of talented artists ranging from legends like Freddie Foxxx and Craig G. to newer game-changers like Homeboy Sandman and Eternia and was exclusively produced by JJ Brown

2012 promises to be an even better year for Illus, as he and his wife recently welcomed the birth of their first child and his new project, Family First, (due to be released on 5-29-2012) focuses on the shared love of that experience to create 12-tracks that mend meaningful, powerful, heart-felt lyrics to hardcore Hip-Hop production. Family First is a celebration of family and life both in the literal sense and that of the larger global Hip-Hop community and the connection we all have through our children and the spirit, heart, passion and soul of the culture.

On Family First, Illus collaborates lyrically and sonically with some of best emcees and producers in the business. Each emcee featured is also the producer of the track they appear on and this collaborative process is a first for any Hip-Hop project. Family First is also co-produced by Public Enemy luminary DJ Johnny Juice and the star-studded guest emcee/producer list includes; Apathy, Ill Bill, Blueprint, J-Live, Erin Barra, Headsnack, Phashara, Chuuwee, Esoteric and more.

E-40 Headlines Electronic Music Festival: First Annual Fractalize Festival in Belden Town, CA-July 6-8

From Nik @ Ballin PR:

E-40 Headlines Electronic Music Festival: First Annual Fractalize Festival in Belden Town, CA-July 6-8

San Francisco based electronic music promoters MalLabel Music and Hellefante have teamed up to create what is sure to be a legendary festival in the remote town of Belden Town, California this summer. The first annual Fractalize Festival will include a weekend of live music, DJs, vending and camping, with a wide array of headliner talent including Bay Area Rap Legend E-40, Rocker-T and Jah Warrior Shelter Hi-Fi, plus some very special surprise guests. This event has been in the making for many years as both MalLabel and Hellefante’s goal is to promote next level music in creative non-traditional environments. Leading the bass music scene in the Bay Area over the past few years, MalLabel hosts’ large-scale underground events with some of the biggest names in bass. Since early 2009, Hellefante has been serving the Bay Area with Dubstep, Drum & Bass, Grime, UK Funky to Garage, presenting some of the most respected producers and performers of our time.

The venue for this event is a new frontier for these two powerhouse production companies to transcend experiences they have co-created in the past. Belden Town Resort and Lodge is located "In the heart of the River Canyon" on the beautiful scenic byway of Highway 70, twenty-eight miles east of historical Quincy, California. The Lodge offers a great restaurant, where you may eat inside or out on our deck that overlooks the Feather River in all its natural beauty and sounds, along with a view of the amazing wildlife. Two stages will be placed on opposite sides of the venue to allow for both a large-scale concert environment and a smaller more intimate DJ stage setting on the beachfront portion of the property. This event will feature state of the art lighting and soundsystems as well as some very interesting thematic décor.
The Festival’s Saturday night headliner is none other than Yay-area's own E-40. MalLabel founder Mal says she chose him in part because she's a huge fan, but also "hip-hop has always been a huge part of bass music and
since Hyphy has become a staple in tons of DJs' playlists, E-40 seemed to us to be the perfect choice to blend with bass heavy dance music supporting his headlining."

Other Festival performers include a cavalcade of well-known DJs including; Mux Mool, DJG, Jantsen, Hellfire Machina, Stagga, Bil Bless, DJUNYA, The Widdler and many more to be announced in the coming weeks. There will also be a handful of surprise guests that will not even be announced until the event itself, a trademark of past MalLabel and Hellafante promoted club parties.
Advance tickets will be available starting Friday, May 4th, 2012, and will include 3 days of festival performances, events and activities. Tickets for all 3 days start at $120.00 and will only be available for a limited time before the festival itself. Check out www.fractalizefestival.com for more information and secure ticket purchases.

Video: I Am Many - "More Black"

CALLING ALL S.I.N.ERS!!!!! Strength In Numbers is the movement and I Am Many is the prime minister. The Brooklyn born emcees debut LP on Creative Juices Music is set to release 03/06/12. The 12 cut album entirely produced by Logik Proof is without filler, and unlike anything currently floating around the over saturated blogosphere of post traumatic, underachieving mediocrity. SIN is one banger after another of fresh, modern, raw hip hop dense with witty, subversive subject matter and breathtaking wordplay.
