Hell Razah And Nature Sounds Release New Heaven Razah Single, Announce Contest For Filmmakers, Music Lovers And Movie Buffs Alike
"Those steeples on those churches weren't built for nothin'. They are designed to launch." So begins Hell Razah's new single, "Negro Angelitos" (Black Angels), a haunting ballad off of his new record, Heaven Razah, out now via Nature Sounds. Having landed in the hospital in April with a serious health emergency, Razah has re-fashioned himself as a modern day hip-hop prophet, spitting spiritual wisdom about the apocalypse, the presence of demons, mortality, and the afterlife.
The song's chorus mirrors Razah's own rise from a place of darkness. Produced by Dev-1, "Negro Angelitos" is grounded in a spooky electric piano and progresses to include a reinforcing string melody, thunder claps and, because it was recorded before Razah's stint in the hospiital, an eerily prophetic chorus. "Look deep into my eyes, can you see my soul? Man fell from heaven 'till there's one hell hole. From this hell we excel and we rise again. Look deep into my eyes again. Black Angels."
On his new track "Cinematic," Hell Razah channels fellow Wu-Tang swordsman GZA (think "Labels" & "Publicity") while name-dropping a slew of 70s black cinema classics. Nature Sounds will be giving away a free copy of Razah's new album Heaven Razah to the first 5 people to successfully name all the films mentioned in the track, and a special prize pack ($100 value!) will be awarded to the best mash-up video made using the track and vinatage blaxploitation footage. So whether you're an aspiring filmmaker or just a movie buff, enter to win some free stuff! Download the track for free here: http://www.naturesounds.bandcamp.com, and send all entries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
There has been a LOT going on lately. For starters I had two records drop this past week. The first one was a joint I did with Brooklyn NY DJ/Producer, Dj Eleven (The Rub, BrooklynRadio.net). I've known Dj Eleven for about 5 years now. When we first met, he didn't know I was an emcee, and I had no idea he made beats. We would run into each other in different cities over the years, and became real cool peoples. Early this year we decided to cook up some music together. This is the first of a few records you will hear from me and Dj Eleven.

Back in August I released a Digital Single via I-Tunes for 2 songs: "Bad Bad Man / Strange Day" via So Flo Ent.
Bad Bad Man featured ATL's own Ekundayo and Stat Quo and received a GREAT response. Shouts to all the Dj's, Blogs, and people that supported the record. I still say my "Bad Bad Man" Record is > Than a 5 Hour Energy Drink. So if you need that pick me up, just press play and BOOM!
Now it's time to hit you off with the B-Side "Strange Day." On this record I tell a story of the inevitable hold ups in life, and some of the things that happen in one crazy day in the ATL.

Hollywood, CA — Lyrical dynamo Chris Young the Rapper releases his first single, “Stoned" via the world wide web. This comes 10 days before the release of his highly anticipated mixtape, The 1991 EP.
"The record is a ode to the golden era of hip hop. When beats had soul and the rhymes meant something," said Cisco Adler, who produced the set of songs and heads up Young's label Bananabeat Records.
“Stoned,” returns the listener to the glory days of hip hop. Del The Funky Homosapien, innovator and legend, is featured on the track in classic form. Del, who most recently worked with the likes of powerhouse producer Dan "the Automator" Nakamura and the alternative hip hop group, Gorillaz, served as a huge inspiration to Young for 1991.
“The song has horns that put you in the mode of classic 90’s breakbeats with lyrics from Del and I that are very colorful and visual,” Young said.
Following up the release of his successful, Valuepack Mixtape, 1991 cements Young as a powerful hip hop presence. In addition to Del the Funky Homosapien, Young has worked with heavyweights like Cobra Starship, Shwayze, and Tabi Bonney.
Sometimes I say an Artist Of The Week feature has been a long time comin, and when it comes to L.I.F.E. Long that phrase couldn’t be more fitting. I first met L.I.F.E. Long in the very early 2000’s through Dyalekt, who introduced us when we bumped into each other on the street. L.I.F.E. Long hit me with a copy of the 2000 Writers Guild EP, The Writers Guild! (which I still have, red paper insert and all) and I continued to follow his career, as well as the major moves his crew, Stronghold, were making in New York City’s underground hip-hop scene. We saw each other at shows every now and then and kept in touch.
Now a heck of a lot more is on L.I.F.E. Long’s plate, so we sat down to discuss the multitude of albums and collaborations that he’s been working on, his thoughts on the development of New York’s underground hip-hop scene, and why he thinks the L.I.F.E. Long of today would really get along with the L.I.F.E. Long of ten years ago.
