Artist: Fabolous f/ Jeremih
Title: It's My Time
Label: Desert Storm/Def Jam

If you're struck by the fact that "It's My Time" sounds like DJ Khaled's "Go Hard" featuring Kanye West and T-Pain, it's not a coincidence. Both songs are produced by The Runners. The biggest difference between the two may be that newcomer Jeremih playing the T-Pain role, with a little more vocal doubling and a tad less AutoTune. Fabolous puts his place in hip-hop down firmly by saying "niggaz don't measure up and try to blame the Pyrex" while calling their raps "so full of trickery/nursery, rhymin, hickory-dickory" before comparing himself to "Biggie, Busta [and] Puffy." That's worked in Fab's favor in the past - he's New York, cult favorite and pop crossover all at the same time - and should work well here too. The only ones to suffer by this single are The Runners, who create another winner on the track but run the danger of becoming self-parodying before long.
