Review by Steve 'Flash' Juon
Artist: Mu Dills f/ Lil' Kim
Label: Monee Green Entertainment
When looking to make a name for yourself on your first big single, it's hard to go wrong featuring Lil' Kim on your track. Keeb Green laces up a beat reminiscent of the earliest era of The Neptunes, and Kim plays the provocative sex kitten as well as she ever has in her career. "I need my money up front, I don't do rainchecks/Money over niggaz, that's what I call safe sex/It's the Q-U-double-E, N-B-double-E/champagne bottle shape, oh so lovely." As for the New Jersey native Dills, I'm still undecided. His flow strikes me as a cross between Plies and Red Cafe, and while I don't hate it, I'm not passionate about it either. This song is perfect for the clubs and will probably rattle a few trunks this summer, which undoubtedly is what Mu Dills was hoping for, so on that level "Raincheck" is a success - I'm just waiting to see where he goes next.
