Review by Steve 'Flash' Juon Artist: Birdman f/ Drake, Lil Wayne Title: Money to Blow Label: Cash Money Records
"We gon' be alright if we put Drake on every hook." It's hard to argue with Weezy given how hot Drake is right now, nor can one argue with choosing Drumma Boy to produce it. DB builds up the instrumental during each verse gradually, starting with a simple synth over bap and drum clap, until you hear that trademark Drumma sound like a rocket taking off and the extra layers of percussion and melody come in. Now for the haters the track is unquestionably as vapid lyrically as the title implies (a profound Birdman verse is rare enough to be a blue diamond), the overplayed Autotune gimmick is all over this one, and Wayne's spotlight stealing verse is the shortest of all three. Despite all that I'm giving this one my stamp of approval. It's a well produced bit of pop rap fluff that's easy to listen to that's likely to do well in the mainstream.
