2009 a Banner Year for Sportn' Life Records

2010 is Poised to be Successful for the 7-year-old Label

SEATTLE, WA -Feb. 15, 2010- 2009 was a triumphant year for Sportn' Life Records and 2010 promises to be another successful year. 

Sportn' Life's success in 2009 started with D.Black's sophomore album release, Ali'Yah, which found itself on's Outstanding Albums of 2009 list.  A partnership with MYX Music Label helped put the album in the national spotlight, and it climbed the college hip hop charts, peaking at #4, holding that position for 5 weeks while also remaining in the top 20 for 10 weeks.  D.Black's single "Yesterday" was also a chart climber all over the country and the video made it's way to the Freshmen Competition on MTV-U and will appear on MTV television channels in February.  D.Black played the CMJ Music Conference in New York City and was featured on the region's NBC affiliate, KING 5 Television.

In 2009, D.Black and Fatal Lucciauno were both invited to perform at some of the city's most prestigious music community events such as Chase Jarvis's "Song's for eating & Drinking," "The New Guard" dinner series and City Arts Magazines "The Song Show."   Spaceman performed for the Seattle Sonics Tribute Show, he and D.Black also licensed music to the film "Sonicsgate"  D.Black, Fatal Lucciauno and Spaceman were all featured at the Capitol Hill Block Party; Spaceman & D.Black tore the house down at the popular music festival, Bumbershoot; and SK, Spaceman & Fatal Lucciauno played Reverbfest.

Coming up this year,Sportn' Life's entire label roster will perform show old school basement party style for $5.00 at the Comet Tavern on March 10th.  922 E. Pike St. Seattle, WA 98122. The event is 21 and up with ID.

March is a big month for the label, with D.Black releasing an EP and performing at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Spaceman has a couple of EP's in the works as well, one of which will be released this spring. Spaceman is also preparing for his debut full length release this year.

Fatal Lucciauno is at work on a couple of EP's, featuring new work from BeanOne.  Fatal is also in the studio working on a full length project with all Jake One production.

New artists SK and RnB singer Marissa will both be playing the regional circuit and releasing songs, viral video and more.  You can also expect to see a mix tape and digital EP from SK.
