HIP-HOP POP GROUP GME LAUNCHES OUT OF SOUTH FLORIDA
NEW SINGLE “PHONE HOME” FEATURES SOUTHERN FUTURISTIC SWAG
Trouble Man, Che , Dokes, Tazz and Y-Jay are Florida’s newest native sons – GME, and they are turning up temperatures in the Sunshine State of Florida, dropping single after sizzling single.
Brothers Trouble Man, Che and Dokes, along with childhood friends Tazz and Y-Jay have just dropped “Phone Home,” a futuristic fantasy world of money, cars and clothes, featuring Che’s lyrical wordplay and Y-Jay’s infectious personality.
“We’re not down with the guns, violence, and drugs,” Che emphasizes. “People don’t always want to hear that hardcore violence. Hip-hop came from the streets, but the audience for hip-hop has expanded. We make our music for everyone.”
And it seems their fans feel the same way. Legendary Miami-based label, Togetherness Records, orchestrated a regional grassroots campaign around the group’s first song late last year, “Big Money,” which was distributed to high schools in South Florida and promoted via MySpace and Facebook. The music caught on because of its carefree party vibe, and was played by South Florida’s X102.3 radio station.
“GME’s music is recession proof,” adds Tazz. “It’s a break from the stress. If you don’t have money to go to the club, have a house party, move the couch to one side and get your dance on, right in the living room. That’s the kind of fun GME is all about. We’re coming with fresh sounds that can only be described as ‘southern futuristic swag.’ You gotta leave your troubles behind, be down with GME to rock with it.” And with these Florida boys with swagga to spare, GME just upped the game.
