Review by Susan 'susiQ' Kim

Artist: Yung Ralph
Title: I Work Hard
Label: Universal Republic

The most recent up and coming artist hailing from Atlanta is Yung Ralph who releases yet another single from his debut album, “Most Unexpected” which is set to release in late February 2008.  On the Universal Republic label, Yung Ralph follows the first single “Look like Money” with “I Work Hard, an album highlight and features the clean, explicit, and instrumental edits.  Fortunately, the track strays away from the predictable “crunk” ATL sound and instead is infused with a slower, soulful beat accompanied by horns and female vocals.  It’s a candid, yet sincere revelation of working relentlessly during tough times as Yung Ralph enlightens his audience to maintain strong work ethics in order to achieve the ultimate happiness, both emotionally and financially.  Reminiscing about his youth, Yung Ralph shows his appreciation for his family and the hardships faced while growing up.  Praising his mother he says, “I watched my mom work really hard.  She took good care of us, but of course, I always wanted more.”
