If I've learned one thing in my life it's that some people don't know when to keep their damn mouth shut. I offer the following unsolicited advice in completely uncensored fashion.
1.) If you work in a job in the entertainment industry, don't show up at a party full of people who either ardently follow or professionally cover the entertainment industry.
2.) If you do show up at said party, don't proceed to consume inordinate amounts of alcohol, to the point you are waving around your drink and shouting at everyone around.
3.) If you do show up at said party, and you do drink large amounts of alcohol, don't start talking about your employer or the people you work with and reveal company secrets.
4.) If you show up at said party, drink large amounts of alcohol, and reveal confidential information about your employer or fellow employees, DON'T EXPECT YOUR JOB TO BE SECURE WHEN THE PARTY IS OVER.
The old saying "loose lips sink ships" apply. To that end I've been to far too many industry functions in my life where people seem far too pleased to drink enough to spill their guts to anybody in sight, even when doing so in a social setting with a large number of people who may or may not have cameras and cell phones guarantees them NO expectation of privacy, particularly in public places. I don't want to hear it and if you really thought about it YOU don't want to say it, but you get a few drinks in your and that filter in your brain goes away. If that's you and you read my list above, feel free to stop yourself anywhere from 1-3 long before you get to #4.
