Devo Spice Update - 8/2/2010

How’s everybody doing?  Good?  Probably better than I am, but I vented on the last episode of The Funny Music Podcast so I won’t bore you with my troubles right now.

Many people labor under the impression that rappers are unintelligent buffoons who can’t read.  While I can’t comment on the buffoon part, I do wish to spit in the face of the stereotype with proof that I can, in fact, read.  And now there is proof online.

Recently I did a narration for the science fiction podcast EscapePod.  The 30 minute episode is now posted over at EscapePod.org (http://escapepod.org/2010/07/29/ep251-unexpected-outcomes) for your free listening pleasure.  The story, written by Tim Pratt, takes an interesting twist on a topic that we are all too familiar with, but that’s all I’m going to say because I don’t want to ruin the story for you.

So if you’re not already a subscriber to EscapePod head over there and download at least this episode.  It’s a cool story.

--== MUSIC-RELATED NEWS: NEW SONGS OF THE MONTH ==--
This month over at DevoSpice.com we’re featuring I’m Not Your Personal IT Guy because I realized I hadn’t featured it before, and Blood Guts and Boobs, because I’m working on a new stage video for it and it’s been on my mind.  (Like boobs ever aren’t on my mind...)

As always these songs are available as a free download or stream, and you can always buy a higher quality version for just $.99.

Thanks to various people and various forms of technology most of my set from Nerdapalooza is now online.  The only thing missing is my first song, I’m Not Your Personal IT Guy, and the between-song banter which was greatly reduced at this show anyway because we were so far behind schedule.

If you haven’t yet checked out these videos this was the first show I did with Madison, one of the lovely performers from Cosplay Burlesque.  And she did a fantastic job.  You’ll see her in most of the videos, but she’s featured most prominently in Brain Food and The Geeks Come Out At Night.

If anyone has any other videos from Nerdapalooza please let me know.  I’m always looking for more footage I can use for promotional stuff.

--== BREATHING IN YOUR FACE NEWS: NASFiC ==--
This weekend I’ll be performing at NASFiC (this year’s is called ReConStruction) in Raleigh, NC.  Friday night there will be a round-robin FuMP concert featuring me, Rob Balder, Power Salad, Tom Smith, and Danny Birt.  We all also have solo concerts throughout the weekend.  Mine is Saturday evening at 6:00 PM.

More information, including a wildly inaccurate schedule, can be obtained here:
http://www.reconstructionsf.org/

The schedule grid appears to be fairly accurate, but the times are completely wrong for most of the panel descriptions as of the last time I checked.  Hopefully they’ll fix that soon.  And I’m also listed throughout the schedule as “Tom Rockwell.”  Don’t let that throw you.

->Later.....Spice
