Review by Steve 'Flash' Juon

Artist: Qwote f/ Shaggy or Trina
Title: Don't Wanna Fight
Label: Slip-N-Slide/Jive Records

It seems I am constantly being tricked into listening to R&B tracks these days. Last week Universal Records got me with Dallas' "Thugs Cry," and this week Slip-N-Slide and Jive are to blame. It didn't occur to me that a label home to thugged out artists like Trick Daddy was looking for a crossover crooner, but the Haitian born and Miami bred Qwote definitely fits the bill. Even though they try like hell to give him an uptempo modern day beat on both versions of his single (one features the reggae stylings of Shaggy, the other the female attitude of Trina) I can't help but think of Air Supply. Qwote sings "I don't wanna fight, I don't wanna fuss girl" and I hear "I'm all out of love, what am I without you!" Whether they intended it or not, the song becomes instantly absurd thanks to the undeniable vocal similarity. Perhaps some clever mixtape king will mix the two together and give Qwote the popularity that Jive and Slip-N-Slide would so desperately like him to have.
