From Alan Page: Rap Vet Releases Solo Debut 15 Years in the Making IF YOU'RE TIRED OF ONE DIMENSIONAL RAPPERS, WELCOME TO THE "NEW GOLDEN ERA" OF DIMENSIONS After forming a group with a pre-dead prez stic.man in Tallahassee and returning to his hometown Washington DC to form a powerhouse underground collective known as the Infinite Loop (the first unsigned DC hip-hop group to secure national media coverage, in the now-defunct Blaze Magazine), Hip-hop artist Dimensions (real name: Anthony Fields) has finally released his solo debut, a 21 track opus entitled "Slanguage: A Brain Cell.e.bration". Exemplifying the proverb "the last shall be first", Dimensions is set to release his solo album after other members of the Infinite Loop have gone on to some notoriety, including Black Indian (the first male hip-hop soloist to ink a major label deal, years before Wale, with MCA) and Omar Retnu (who produced R&B star Raheem Devaughn's early independent releases and is the touring bassist/bandleader in The L's, a band that backs Foreign Exchange (fronted by Phonte of Little Brother) on tour). Following the dissolution of Infinite Loop, Dimensions formed a hip-hop trio dubbed The Package with fellow former Loop members Noyeek the Grizzly Bear and DJ/producer Theory. The group has become an Internet sensation, garnering over 115,000 views on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/itsthepackage and generating almost 2,000 downloads for their digital-only release, "Double R: Remixes and Rarities" in two months. Their debut single, "Making Waves", was promoted via a video (directed by Peter Rosenberg of Hot 97) that has generated over 20,000 views online. "Making Waves" was also remixed by internationally respected producer Kev Brown (who has worked with such hip-hop stars as Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, and formerly belonged to DJ Jazzy Jeff's production team, A Touch of Jazz). Dimensions' buzz single, "Rep Yo Hood" explains part of the reason for the long wait for his solo debut, namely Dimensions' status as a working single father of four sons (all of whom attend private school on academic scholarship thanks to his stern discipline). "Rep Yo Hood" (sometimes subtitled Fatherhood) is a powerful ode to parental responsibility to his fellow black men and a direct challenge to brothers who want to engage in street activities ("repping" their neighborhood) instead of taking care of their responsibilities at home. This must-hear song deserves to be heard throughout the black community and the world at large. "Rep Yo Hood" serves as the lead-off single from Dimensions' debut album and is attached to this message.
