"Break Bread" is an unapologetically political song and strong statement from newcomers Shunda K and Jwl. B, better known as Yo! Majesty. Shunda also seems to have some very strong Christian views, such as "If you're feelin' me, imagine a worldwide unity/All nations under he, our mission should bring light to all people." That may come off a little too preachy, and it may not help their cause that the production on the track is decidedly unorthodox - a mixture of exploding beats and noises akin to an electronic banging on pipes. Despite the possibility this could turn off many listeners, I find myself intrigued by Yo! Majesty, perhaps becaue I'm wondering how their pro-black, feminist and Christian views will all come together on an EP entitled "Kryptonite Pussy." Yes, I'm serious, and so apparently are they. Be on the lookout for their full-length album "Futuristically Speaking... Never Be Afraid" on Domino Records.
