Free Music Friday: The Intimidator Edition
Posted by eTMh at Friday, February 18th, 2011 at 11:00AM :: Email this article :: Print this article

Today's random edition title serves as the tribute to NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt who passed away exactly ten years ago now. I also just so happened to be listening to Mos Def's "Speed Law" when he rapped the line, "Driving on tracks like Dale Earnhardt," so I thought, why not? On to the free music!

Focus... :: The Avant Garde Project Special Edition

Focus... - The Avant Garde Project

[Last year, Focus... released this brilliant album of the producer takin advantage of mixing genres in a musical blender to spectacular results. The problem, however, was that folks slept on it like it's a Simmons Memoryfoam mattress. So Focus... decided to release this for FREE! And trust that if you haven't listen to it already, do so now and you won't regret it. Phonte, Jay Sol, and Marsha Ambrosious are some of the album's co-signers as they appear on the album also. Check it out!]

Halo :: Heat Writer II

[Here's the latest offering from 9th Wonder's Jamla crew. Halo gives you this mixtape cover which pays homage to Street Fighter II and all of its Nintendo nostalgic glory. Guest appearances includes Thee Tom Hardy, Rapsody, Big Remo, amongst others. The productions are done by 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Ka$h, Amp, amongst others. Here's a mixtape that you won't have to insert coins to play.]

J.Period, John Legend & The Roots :: Wake Up! Radio

[Fresh out of winning (not one, not two, but) three Grammys', John Legend & The Roots links up with legendary mixtape DJ J.Period to release "Wake Up! Radio." Just in case you thought The Roots will suddenly change after winning the awards, this mixtape will prove you dead wrong. No matter how much props they receive in the hip-hop world, as well as the mainstream, you can count on The Roots to bring real music. Guest appearances ranges from Q-Tip, Rakim, Nneka, Isaac Hayes, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and more. Wake up if you're still sleeping!]

The Regiment :: Back to Lyrics

[Coming outta Motown/Detroit, The Regiment's mission statement is to take hip-hop back to the time where the lyrics are just as important as the beats. How do I know? The title says so. This mixtape features The Regiment spitting raw lyrics over classic hip-hop beats, unlike rapping over hot-for-a-minute beats that'll be stale by the time the mixtape gets released. Check it out!]
