Marathon of Dope's Speeddial 7 - "11" on 4/19/11
It’s been said time and time again that an artist really only learns the true essence of a record once it’s been taken on tour. In the case of Speed Dial 7’s latest full-length release 11, the record was almost entirely conceived and constructed on the road. While touring for his October release Short Rich Apocalypse, frontman, Tom De Geeter drew inspiration from the places he played, artists he met, and floors he slept on to cook up the spontaneous and energetic 11. Influenced greatly by an extensive 70s record collection he raided after a show in Innsbruck, the record has a mix of nostalgic samples, and Speed Dial 7’s signature throwback percussion. Guest artists are many and varied on 11. De Geeter calls upon old favorites like M Sayyid (Anti-Pop Consortium), Mike Ladd (Infesticons), Pip Skid, Birdapres, Nomad and Elissa P., and also extends his song to new artists including These Are Powers frontwoman, Anna Barie, three-time Scribble Jam winner, Skratch Bastid. Despite the patchwork of vocal contributions, 11 is threaded together with a spread of driving rhythm, eerie melodies, and Speed Dial 7’s iconic dark humor.

SPEEDDIAL 7 – BIO
Speed Dial 7 is Tom De Geeter’s one-man band. You may know De Geeter as one half of Zucchini Drive (2nd Rec/Hue/Marathon of Dope), one third of Cavemen Speak (Shadowanimals/Subversiv/ Hue), one fourth of Nuccini (2nd Rec), and one fifth of Gunporn (Shadowanimals/Subversiv). You do the math.
Originally from Kortrijk, Belgium, De Geeter has evolved from hardcore-kid to alternative rap teenager, to mental-patient adult and beyond. His sound has been influenced by world travels with Zucchini Drive, and by learning the ways of the sword. A meltingpot of inspiration always provides a surprise in the folds of Speed Dial 7. De Geeter puts his vocals on whatever he thinks will work, from sample-based foundations, to original melodies, to the guitar hooks of Mich Decruyenaere (from the legendary Hitch, Be), to the drumming of Pieter Blancke (from postrock-outfit Salvador, Be). You can expect to hear a mix of sixties psychedelic rock (Moving Sidewalks, Jimi Hendrix), folk (Stephen Stills, Manassas), and pioneers of the 80s (Afrika Bambaataa) in De Geeter’s next release. But it’s better not try expect anything in the Speed Dial 7 universe.
Toms’ first solo record “Short Rich Apocalypse” was out on the 15th of october 2010 on marathon of dope (digital) and on Vlas Vegas (vinyl) with an amazing lineup of featurings such as Mike Ladd, Infesticons (Big Dada), Rob Sonic (Def Jux), Bleubird, K-the-i???, M Sayyid (Anti-Pop Consortium), Anna Barie (These Are Powers), Nomad (Cavemen Speak), Marcus Graap (Zucchini Drive), Elissa P, KaeoFLUX, Passage (Restiform Bodies/Anticon), Birdapres and Pip Skid.
After touring Europe, the east coast and Canada, Speed Dial 7 comes back with an incredible new record called 11.
