Biz 3: San Diego by way of Russellville, KY artist Ta' East has dropped another loosie entitled "Black Male," while anticipation for his debut EP Ok I'm Ready continues to build (more on that next week). Produced by long-time collaborator Cairo Mayeson, Ta' says of the track "This is a retrospective look into the mind of a young black man learning his truths through trial and error while responding to the white lashing of the progressive state of America."

[Tupac Shakur graffiti courtesy Wikimedia Commons]Editorial courtesy of Steve 'Flash' Juon: Last night I was reminiscing to some friends of mine how when I was growing up (and perhaps more to the point WHERE I was growing up) you couldn't just go to the store to buy rap albums, and since there were no websites let alone anything called Amazon (you'd barely even recognize what we called "the internet" in my teens - it was 100% text based) you couldn't order it online. Downloading music? The idea of even downloading someone's picture was inconceivable, let alone an album, and much like websites MP3's didn't exist.

No my friends, back in the late 1980's and early 1990's, if you wanted an album that stores around you wouldn't carry, you had only one reasonable option to solve your problem -- and that was called MAIL ORDER.

After that I hope it will be a REALLY long time before I ever write about, speak about, think about or address the subject. In many respects I regret that I ever did in the first place, but it still behooves me to wrap this up.

Something I never expected happened last week - a man who lost the popular vote won the electoral college. That's not unprecedented in U.S. history - in fact it happened as recently as 16 years ago. The difference between then and now is that I was not left nearly so dissatisfied by the result. I didn't agree with the platform or policies of George W. Bush, but I wasn't filled with this overwhelming sense of dread...
